Hi Myron, I hoping my question finds you,
I have an 86 jx and I'm getting fuel into the evap charcoal canister from the carburetor? I forget the name of the electronic plunger valve located on the front top part of the carb, but that's how the gas is flowing into the charcoal canister.
It will run perfect for 20-30 sec. Then run horrible or dye.
Hope this made sense, I've been researching online and haven't found a fix??
      Thank You Doug.

Surprised you advocate a 2.0 or 2.5 liter swap over the 1.6. I went 1.6 L 16V because I had read from others the opposite. Maybe if or when I blow this one up, I’ll look for something beefier.
Oh, and your tip on buying a donor vehicle rather than parts is an excellent one. I bought a rusted out, low-ish mileage Tracker with a for a grand, pulled the engine, harness, ECU and a few other small parts out of it. I sold it to a pick and pull for $455. My swap was a breeze.

Thank you for the informative history lesson. I may disagree with the Dodge-Aisin relationship. The first 5.9 3-speed Autos were Mopar 727 Torqueflights, then they went to the Mopar 4-speed overdrive trans. None of these would put up with a Cummins' torque and didn't last. Aisin transmissions (far superior) did not appear in Dodge (Ram) trucks until the last 10 years.

I consider it a step above a Weber. Which I also despise. I am not the normal off-roader. All you Samurai guys make the same mistake. BIG TIRES, BIG GEAR BOX CHANGES.. The little jeep is a 85 hp work horse... Suzukis are probably the most desired vehicle in all of Africa, due to their RELIABILITY.... "FOR WHAT IT IS".... Suzuki cam back to America in the 2000's with the Kachsi (car) something like that, and a Nissan truck with a 'badge change', Suzuki's mistake is... they were trying to compete with Honda - Accord, and Toyota - Camry..... SUZUKI,,, THAT IS NOT YOUR WHEEL HOUSE....... Making cute little jeeps is.... Toyota and Honda WILL NOT ENTER THAT MARKET.... Ive owned 2 Geo Trackers. one, my daughter loved so much she begged me for it. She drove it to high school... ALL THE KIDS LOVED IT.... and guess what old guy... that was ALL STOCK with STOCK WHEELS AND TIRES.... So.. in closing. Suzuki should build that Jimny in Mexico, and build the Jimny truck concept in Mexico. BRIBE US POLITICIANS.... because you can easily do that. Suzuki should CONCENTRATE ON SMALL LOW POWERED JEEPY things... You MONSTER TIRE guys will just have to work out your inadequacies in some other way.

I think you should have made it clearer for those that don't know, the Samurai is the Jimny, it was badged as the Samurai for the US market, I have a 98 Jimny licensed for the road in the US, in order to do this it must be 25 years or older unless you have money and connections, I know of 2 brand new ones licensed here.

It is worthwhile upgrading to the 26 spline front axles if sticking to stock sized tyres and not a huge suspension lift? Do you recommend a parts supplier for this?
