Couldn't agree more Duckey. Showing those kids how to wrench with their hands and troubleshoot, a skill that will be highly sought after in the coming decades.
I was thinking the same thing. I grew up on an apple orchard and my grandfather and dad ran a car dealership. I didn’t know what to do first when I got out of school: play in my tree house or fiddle with old rusty cars.
Super cute daughter. She doesn’t know that her dad is a super hero mechanic, but she does appreciate old stuff that could be fixed up. That’s awesome / made my day 🙂
I'm almost certain your dog was a mechanic in previous life. He seems very interested in all the projects you do and watches on with great interest. Precious dog.. 😊😊🐕🐕
Marty this Suzuki has your name written all over it. When you pulled onto your property it knew that it had come home to Papa and was about to start a new happy life 😉 Anytime the Missus gives you a hard time, you are hereby authorized to tell her that you are simply making the content your subscribers want to see...so get on the boat with the rest of us 🤣 Another sweet video Marty. Thank you!
When i was a kid, i had a childhood like this, such great memories. I was driving old tractors at the age of 6 and learnt to drive the old landrover at 8. Life on a farm was great.
It might be worth replacing the rubber mounts for the transfer case, they are known to break under heavy load! The drivetrain is going to thank you if you put on 4 of the same tires
My first car was a suzuki like this, just another color. On 4x4 it was climbing everywhere on the mountains around my home town. I had a lot of fun with it. You have quite good helping hands growing up there. 👍
That is so great that you're having your kids out there with you. They may be playing but they're also learning at the same time. Thank you for sharing this with us.😊
Never to young to pass along your wealth of knowledge. I don't mean to be disrespectful but it seems theres a lot of other peoples left overs laying around your country and for us it's a good thing lots of cool videos.
I had a sj410 in the 90s drove it across spain south to north the ferry back home to UK fully loaded only ever had to replace the points great work pity that they rusted away so quickly only reason i got rid of mine Blessings to you and yours
Excellent video Marty T :) nice rescue on this Suski 4 ×4 vechile my one lady Cousin Nancey had 1994 In black color body and interior left hand drive only different! She bought her new and still going strong too ! She had motor rebuilt , carb , Alternator, Starter, Choke cable knob , Clutch plate , bearings , transmission all done , transfer case , drive shafts , axles, exhaust , Rad recore to , Heater core , tires , brake all it , emergency brake cable to and bit on electrical too ! She got tons kms on hers !
Classic🎉 good on you getting the girls out for an adventure. I've been watching your videos for a while now, love the creative off grid lifestyle that you culture. I live vicariously through you.
Hi Marty and family, I always look for your uploads, so interesting and different. Great to see you with your children, they love to get involved with their wonderful parents. Many thanks from Nr Liverpool UK.
The general rule for a question in the title of a UA-cam video is that the answer is "No". Marty T is a consistent exception! I'm confident Marty will get it going. OK, I'm sitting down with a beer and looking forward to this.
These little devils seem to soldier on, pity they suffer from corrosion. Engine complete with Lucas alternator, sounded very sweet. Great to see your young ones so interested and involved. Lifelong happy memories for them and you.
I am so glad you mentioned a scrapyard - your videos seemed to imply that everybody in NZ dumped their old vehicles in the forest somewhere for you to retrieve and get running. Your wife must be a saint to put up with the stream of things you resurrect. The skill shown would be epic in a garage but so much work seems to be done in the jungle or in the garden with minimal tools.
This may be my favorite you tube show Your constant explanations are excellent! They are a lot of what makes the show great. My father was also an amazing explainer, perhaps that is one reason why I love this channel. I’ve resurrected many of cars over the years and one John Deere backhoe, a 410 b, that was my favorite
grate cheap 4x4 had 4 of them over the years and still use 03 year today thats 20years old , think this will be the last one , they r a great cheap small 4x4 small track job , well done bringing back to life
Those little Suzuki Samurai’s were built for North America not far from me. I always liked them. Nice revival. Looks like you are having some nice spring weather!
Hai Marty , I'm still driving my 4 X 4 Opel frontera 1997 during my visit to the farm , I replaced my long shaft bearing once ...! It's easy at the soft soil it won't stuck .. regards from Kuala Lumpur
I grew up on a small farm in New Zealand I love watching this bloke reminds me of home it’s exactly like this over there had one of those cars they go anywhere!😅
as soon as I click on one of Marty's videos I hit the thumbs up first. cuz I know from watching him for a couple of years that his videos are worthy of the double thumbs up 👍👍
The Suzuki SJ410! Had a pair of these back in the early 2000's. Proper little rot boxes, but would get you anywhere & everywhere off-road. 1000cc Billy goats🐐
Thanks for sharing. You're so clever. I loved it when your daughter said "yeah it's nice" haha. It's good to see that you're teaching them to appreciate the old things, too. I loved seeing the Billy lids playing with the gerni, my kids love it too haha. On a side note, I'd love to see a diff rebuild.
Great Video Marty T I owned a SJ413 which my ex wife managed to roll and ding every panel, it was my pride and joy! they are fantastic 4X4's it's amazing that a guy would leave it parked up for 12 years when it was clearly a runner, thanks for sharing
I've been a fan of your channel for a while now. I just recently bought a Samurai that I've been loving and then you post this! Keep up the great work.
I had a Suzuki Caribbean in Thailand in the late 80's. A great vehicle! I drove all over the country without issues! later I changed the engine to a 1.8 Toyota engine and boy that did the trick! So much so that I had to install a roll cage!!
This was fun and interesting. It’s wonderful getting to see your family spending time together, learning as they go. Spending time with dad. How wonderful! Thanks for sharing! 😃
Several years ago I bought a 1950 jeep pickup truck from a neighboring Fire Department. Everything looked clean and dry underneath so I assumed the diffs were full. Ha! Burned up the rear diff on the first short drive! I always check now first thing!
Suzuki Samurai. Maruti GYPSY in India. These are simply fantastic little things. Our Police Services and Armed Forces and Forestry Services all swear by them. So do I, I ve had 5 of these over the last 26 years. And have just graduated to the Samurai’s equally accomplished Grandson, the little Suzuki Jimny.
I had a Sammy, 465,000 miles 2 motors, 2 transmissions, one transfer case and one rear driveshaft, it was a great value . It was blazingly slow, handled like a dump truck with 6 flat tires. Drove across the country twice over 20 years. Good little vehicle!
I love your ambition and choice if projects. I did the same, not to the same extent, but I resurrected many many cars and an old John Deere 410b backhoe The backhoe was Definitely my favorite
Fun times with the kids, they sure are growing fast. A few years ago my son thought he'd be clever and wash his nice Impreza with my water blaster. He too used the dirt blaster, until the beautiful white pearl paint started coming off- oh no
I owned two of these back-to-back in the 90's as a second car. They were great for what they were, cheap transportation and fun mountain trail scrabbling. But the ride....oh, my. Terrible. I was glad when I could finally afford something better. But no real bad things to say about them. I'm afraid my standard now is too lofty to go back to that level. Nice blast from the past, though. Good memories of fun mountain climbing times. Thanks for that!
A buddy of mine had one. Another friend in college had one as well. Suzuki made good engines but little else. These things weren't very good on the road and were downright unsafe at speeds greater than 50 -- mainly due to having to make quick lane changes if necessary. But you're right: if you kept these things either as a local neighborhood or a farm/ranch vehicle, they were fine.
That A12 brings back memories of a 1200 I had. The idle was the same. From memory there was a slow run emulsion tube, with very small openings, that would frequently block causing it. I only stopped fixing that when I sold the car.
Great fun with an old wreck. And perhaps very soon it won’t be so wrecked! Well, Toby needs a drive… but I think his sister might beat him to it! Really enjoyed this one, thanks. Les in UK🇬🇧
my brother had one on his ranch. we used it to check the fence line and check the herd and such. damm nice little truck.. id rather have one of these than a side by side any day of the week...
Another enjoyable video. Your children were sure having a great time. It does my heart good just to see a family happy having a great time. May God bless you and your family in Jesus name, amen.
Haven't seen your videos in a few months. Great project. Price of those Samarai's are through the roof in California. Your boys are doing well in France !!
oh man what a joy seeing Dad and the kids working together, their childhood memories will be great, makes me miss my kids now that they're grown up and gone 😔 but I do get to spoil the grandkids every now and then, the Suzuki was just waiting.. hoping for this moment.
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼…………………………………………………………..You are one of the bravest people I know. Blowing out those jets with compressed air outside on gravel! Bravo sir, NO FEAR! LOL
When you pulled off, Toby was thinking about how long till he turns eight lol. Live on a small holding so had my first drive in what you call and Ute, with the same engine at 15 years old, was a blast.
Install propane kit, 4.16 to 1 transfercase gears, weld the rear, locrite locker in front press on some chromoly birfield rings on front axles, and a set of revolving shackles front and rear for a few inch lift and its already a little monster… those stock carbs REALLY REALLY SUCK TO TAKE APART AND GET WORKING AGAIN.. throw them away and go for another option or go propane. It always runs and never fails on propane😎 Edit: had to come to say i also run 5.13 gears in rear ends from a geo tracker or suzuki sidekick and it take two front ends to do front and rear on sami, the tracker/sidekick rear ends are larger so you must find two fronts to slam in… or if you take a rear samurai housing apart and cut the axle tubes off and do the same to tracker rear and weld the samurai axle tubes to the tracker rear housing amd then you now have a hybrid rear end and can run the larger stronger gear set in the rear. You can also use tracker or sidekick drive shaft yokes, they take the same size u-joint but have a larger flange and larger bolts so they stop coming loose and shearing off… the list goes on and on, these little things can be made to do a lot and never break a thing. Tracker 1.6 8 valve and transmission works great too but need toyota axles so the pinion is in center for driveshaft… samurai rear is offset and tracker sidekick toyota are in the center on the rear axle… so much can be done a so much fun to be had while doing it… also if you dont offroad this thing just put the 5.13 gears in the rear ends and you will be able to use 5th gear on the highway stock is 3.73 on samurai rear ends and 2.27-1 on the transfer case, so the 5.13 gears really help.
Love watching the kids get involved with your projects. They have a couple great parents me thinks. Good thing the dog is there as well to tell you what youre doing wrong.
I had two SJ410 Suzukis, and had a lot of adventures with them, both in 4WD club trips and trials, and private adventures. One was a long wheelbase ute that had been fitted with a Mitsubishi 1800 motor and gearbox, which went very well. I fitted a Mitsubishi 1600 to the short wheelbase one and added independent wheel brakes on the back axle, beadlock rims, a roll cage, cut the guards to allow bigger tyres etc. It was a fun and capable little truck. The only modification needed to the Mitsubishi motors was to add float bowl vent extension tubes to the carburettors so fuel didn't spill at high lean angles.. apart from that they ran well standard. Despite the larger motors and some enthusiastic driving, the transfer cases, driveshafts, diffs and axles survived (to my surprise!) although I did have to replace u-joints occasionally... If you keep the 410, I have wheel brake brackets and master cylinders, a reconditioned Mitsubishi 1760 motor I was going to put in the SWB truck but never did, pre-rolled hoops to convert standard steel wheels to beadlocks, and a few parts, here in Otaki. If any of that could be useful to you, let me know...
@@MartyT A friend had a pair of Suzuki diffs, complete with housings and brakes. Not sure whether 410 or 413. I will ask. Otherwise Dan Cowper at Turakina near Wanganui used to wreck Suzuki 4WDs and may have something.
What an awesome childhood you are providing for your kids. Great work as always Marty.
Man I had a sidekick 4x4 same colour..Those things are the bees knees, so fun to drive

Yes a thumbs up from me for entertaining, memories, and fun times with your kiddo
those little suzukis are unstoppable 4x4 machines, so handy around a farm.
I loved hanging out with my father while he worked on cars, or small engines and electronics. Your children are learning so much from you. ❤❤❤
Super cute daughter. She doesn’t know that her dad is a super hero mechanic, but she does appreciate old stuff that could be fixed up. That’s awesome / made my day 🙂
Awesome Marty, this car very familiar in my country...... Indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Your kids are a delight. I smiled when your son and the puppy were looking over the fender into the engine. Good memories for them.
Always a good day when we see Marty get something to run.
I'm almost certain your dog was a mechanic in previous life. He seems very interested in all the projects you do and watches on with great interest. Precious dog.. 😊😊🐕🐕
The kids are so engaged with what you’re doing. Really cool. The trucks not bad for sitting for 12 years
Your kids are just the best! Love how they are happily getting involved in your projects!

Second that - drill through them and put a bolt through, they’re weak off road 👍
Being an early 1l model this will have the factory bolt through mounts, they're unbreakable and a much better design than the later models. :)
I love the manual long handled trailer winch. No battery to go dead, no motor to short out. Fantastic
My first car was a suzuki like this, just another color. On 4x4 it was climbing everywhere on the mountains around my home town. I had a lot of fun with it.

Another good video Marty. Love that your kids get to share in the adventure. Your son's a chip off the old block.
Careful Marty, that Lichen was structural. Another great fliver comes into the domain of Marty T and Co. Great video Marty thumbs up.
The old Suzuki sounds pretty good!! Might make a pretty good transportation unit for the property!
Kids with tools in their hands, GOLD 👍

I been watching from Day1!! 🎉 Always like you're calm ,lowkey approach!!😂😂😂! Hello from Florida!!

Those were always pretty decent vehicles. I almost bought one back in the day. Glad you got it running. Great project vehicle
Several years ago I bought a 1950 jeep pickup truck from a neighboring Fire Department. Everything looked clean and dry underneath so I assumed the diffs were full. Ha! Burned up the rear diff on the first short drive! I always check now first thing!
Your channel reached a new higher level with the addition of your new camera lady who did quite well. So enjoyed this episode.
Seeing yoou interacting with your children is wonderful!
Marty ; I’ve told you this before : You’re a rich man buddy. All that talent and those beautiful kids.
Rich man I say. 👍🏼
great video getting the kids involved so when older they know how to fix it
22:34
I used to have an SJ413... managed to get it in to all sorts of odd places. basic but bombproof little machines.
I love the way you just talk to the kids, none of this baby talk, they will learn more, learn much quicker and not be so giddy.
Suzuki Samurai. Maruti GYPSY in India. These are simply fantastic little things. Our Police Services and Armed Forces and Forestry Services all swear by them. Thanks Marty, always love your videos here in the States. And your cute little helpers are about helping Dad! Doesn't get better than that! Love it!
I love your ambition and choice if projects.
I did the same, not to the same extent, but I resurrected many many cars and an old John Deere 410b backhoe
The backhoe was Definitely my favorite
That's a lot of rust... I love it and would take it home as well
You live in a beautiful utopia. Your videos always gives me hope.
Another one saved love how you walk us through your process really helps learning how one should go about things with any vehicle
Always a great watch what a great score on the wagon
About as simple and basic a vehicle as one can get. Would love to own one to run errands in the neighborhood.
Fun times with the kids, they sure are growing fast. A few years ago my son thought he'd be clever and wash his nice Impreza with my water blaster. He too used the dirt blaster, until the beautiful white pearl paint started coming off- oh no

Fascinating to watch you work Marty. Great video!
You can bring all sorts of things back to life. The one thing beyond your ability is an electric winch. Good video as always.
Nothing wrong with a hand winch, good exercise and less to go wrong ;)
0:54 Medieval people are getting nervous now. Oh no not the rack 😂 awesome vid as always marty
LOVE how you include the kids in everything. Best way to say I love you AND teach them. Girl's a pretty good video hand already!
