I actually like this version a bit more than DX. Of the Demake becomes its own game with more content I think it can make a case for best Pac-Man CE in my opinion of course.
Oh! The high score table initials are all Pac-Man and other Namco name references, I think! For most of them, on Normal it's their Japanese names, and on Extra, it's their English ones. So for example, on Normal the #3 score after you take first place is AKA, as in Akabei, and on Extra it's BLI, or Blinky. A few are not, such as 10th place - it is NAMCOT spelled over the two score tables.
I got the clue after seeing PIN (Pinky) and SUE (Sue) on both score tables (since I believe those are two Ghost names that do not change between regions).
Glad to see someone else play and appreciate this game! I'm a little dissapointed there's no online leaderboards.
This did start as a rom but it was developed by M2 and was actually supposed to be released on the 3DS as it's own game! 5 years later NAMCO gave them the ok and thus it was released on this compilation.
If anyone knows a way to share highscores I'd be interested in some competition!

ZonicTHedgehog yeah it is. Though i had to keep using the rewind feature just to get a a couple of them (that being the no miss achievements, which i guess you were trying to get given the intro XD)

Namcot is basically what Namco used for their home console marketing/games. Not quite sure why that is but yeah, it’s pretty neat!

@@ZonicTHedgehog To add onto that, these archives are actually the western equivalent of a collection called the Namcot Collection, which released in Japan on the same day as these did. This is the entire reason why the Namco Museum Archives are all home console ports of arcade titles, in contrast to the usual Namco Museum fare of arcade ports and the like. (The Pac-Man CE demake is included as a bonus if you purchase all 10 games in the Namcot Collection released thus far, as well as in the physical release, so I imagine the Gaplus demake they have in Namco Museum Archives Vol.2 will be offered in a future content update for that collection.)
This is the only game that shines on Namco Museum Archives Vol. 1.

Is this demake truly an NES rom, or just made to be presented that way? Like could someone extract an NES rom file of the game from this collection and then play it on an NES emulator?
It's a real nes game you can find the ROM on the internet archive

Pac-Man Championship Edition on the NES looks like a great port for the NES. I wouldn't call it a Demake it's just a port for the NES you wouldn't call Double Dragon 1 and 2 for the NES a Demake because the arcade of Double Dragon 1 + 2 is superior it would be called a NES Port of Double Dragon for the NES.
Pacman Championship Edition originally released on Xbox 360, not on old Arcades, so, it's is a demake
I thought it was a waste of money! $20 for NES games! I thought I was getting the arcade ROMs!
It's terrible because all the arcade emulations had to be NES ports
Well, be glad we've got actual NES demakes of Pac-Man Championship Edition (shown here) and Gaplus, all done by M2 themselves. The latter has the actual arcade sound effects.
Also, I forgot to tell you that there are some NES only games like Mappy-Land.
