The "shimmering" I mention is-barely noticeable because of a post bilinear filter Vegas uses when scaling clips. The best idea of what it looks like is at 10:24 if you want to get a rough idea what "pixel shimmering" is.
I mean this is probably my GOTY. Not sure why, I've just been obsessed with actually getting good at Pacman. Like a bucket list kind of thing. Pacman is a completely different game once you get really good at it. But, that's not really a benefit of the collection. I always enjoy seeing your chill takes on games in comments or social media! Really goes to show that just cuz you're lonely don't mean you gotta be grumpy haha
Oh hey, I recognize that Jonii person. :P But yeah, I have to say I agree with most of your criticism here, especially in regards to the input delay, which I felt pretty hard on 1995's Arrangement. The breakdown of some of the more technical details was great to see broken down, especially because I'm not as much of an expert a lot of those details. Still been quite enjoying busting out Pac-Mania every now and again though. Good stuff!
i have yet to see any delay on the XBOX version, maybe its a different build? i've tried the PC one also. no issues there. maybe the ps and nintendo have them. great video on ms pac man by the way. later -1
Since I didn't see this mentioned in the video, Super Pac-Man in Museum+ uses the faster Japanese ROM as opposed to the English ROM. In the Japanese version, when you're powered up by a Super Pellet, you move much, much faster when holding down the Speed button, which only makes the control delay/latency even more obvious. Pac-Mania, which also has some pretty bad latency on its own, feels even worse to play in Museum+.
Honestly I'm surprised they aren't doing Ms. Pac-man as DLC like they did with the previous Pac-Man Museum. Selling it as it's own cheap DLC meant they only had to pay royalties on the DLC's cost, not the cost of the entire collection.
@@someone6531 I mentioned that in my comment. They got around that with the previous collection by selling Mrs. Pac-Man as DLC, so instead of paying royalties on the sales of the collection, they only had to pay on sales of the DLC itself
Pac-in-Time is actually a sprite swap of a dos game called Furry of the Furries. The type of game is often called "European platformers" since most games of this type were made in Europe for early computers like the amiga, the commodore or the spectrum.
Yes... But the goal of Fury of the Furries ISN'T to find all the pallets like the Super Nintendo version (which have really worst physics... ) the DOS, Amiga and Macintosh version are the best version of that game in my opinion.
(16:00) Tbf there actually is a game list, you access by pressing the plus button in the arcade and it will appear on the side. Tho they do never actually tell you about it lol.
The game absolutely sucks until world 2, then it’s better but still not great, and the Japanese version is the worst one and the US version is more forgiving from what I have seen
I've played on both Pacman Battle Royale machine models irl. That is a great reason to buy it, if you needed justification. But no custom design for it kinda sucks quite a bit
8:45 this is actually misinformation. Unity was used for the arcade menu, and porting the 3D/Modern games over. The games that are emulated aren't "emulated through Unity"
2:49: "Next time someone tells you that this games an Isometric game, you give them a big ol' kiss...I mean you tell them your wrong." That sounds like an Romantic entanglement waiting to go wrong.
Nice review! I was looking into getting this game and you go into great detail about things. But as a gamedev, the game being developed in Unity isn't part of the problem. These issues can still happen in any other engine if they're not addressed by the dev team. Things like budget, time constraints, team size, skill level, etc. play a role as well. This misinformation can be harmful for devs as it may deter people from experiencing great games made in the engine due to said info.
No deal without Ms. /Jr. / Plus / Baby / Mr. & Mrs. (pinball) / Professor Pac-Man. I get it, weird rights issues, but those Bally Midway Pac sequels were an essential part of arcades in the early 80s (even the weird ones)... ESPECIALLY Ms. PacMan... which is superior in every way to PacMan and which stuck around in laundromats, bars and rest stops LONG after OG Pacman and the arcade scene went away. It's a damn shame.
Great video! Goes much more on the details than the other reviews. There are some stuff you forgot to mention that are wrong with this collection. 1. The coin system : I feel like the coins draining when inserting a coin was such a bad addition imo. It's bothering me when I'm trying to get perfect patterns over and over by trying again. 2. The roms themselves: You kinda mentioned it while talking about Pac in Time, but it feels like they have chosen the worst roms possible. For example: Super Pac-Man has the harder japanese rom. Pac-Mania is the japanese rom which, while containing more levels, is noticeably slower in its first part... A quick rom edit would've perfected the game by mixing both. Also where the hell are the options and stage select screens on these roms???? On collections such as Namco Museum Megamix, the emulator's engine handeled menus that gave you the choice to either start the game or begin at the desired stage, while having built-in screen settings and sound testing. They could've at least used the Pac-Man 25th version, that allowed you to continue if you still had credits. Arcade games were unforgiving and not having basic abilities like this feel lackluster. Even the stage selection on Pac-Mania is missing, and it was available on the original arcade! Disappointing collection sadly.
The PS1 games remain my favorites of the Museum series. They just got the whole package right, and really stood out amongst pretty much all other game collections thanks to those actual explorable museums. Glad you mentioned them near the end, they're just cool. :)
I’m so glad there is a discussion regarding the latency on this game, especially the Xbox port. I played the Xbox port via gamepass and genuinely could not believe how much latency those games have. The OG Pac-Man imo is just unplayable on the Xbox version and I quickly went to Pac-Man 99 for my fix
They'd have to edit out the characters and unlockable games Midway created and since the characters appear in pre-rendered cutscenes, that would be impossible. Just emulate the games if you have a means of doing so.
Gamedev here, Unity is NOT at fault for any issues in this collection, that is all down to the developer. Addressing Unity as the source of these issues is pretty harmful for younger gamedevs and its a common mistake I see people make. Any issues here caused by what the developer programmed, not the engine that the developers used. If they had done this on any other engine I'm sure these problems would still persist.
He wasn't blaming unity, he was blaming the game devs for using unity when they could have made an engine that they would know how to work with. Rather than an engine that isn't 100% suited for doing this specific task.
I feel like you missed the point of the video if this is your takeaway... This video was about the fact that namco took the easy route instead of using the inhouse emulator they already have 🤓
I would love to see a Pac-Man World remake collection like what they did with Crash, including all the 3 Pac-Man World games + Pac-Man World Rally, sadly, this will never happen.
I played this collection and got confused when I saw 2 pacman arrangements, one that I remember loving and the other being a weird 3d flash looking game Oh I played it on xbox, the only games that had major lag issues were pac in time and pac mania And that was on xbox one
Thank you for noticing the input lag. I couldn't believe youtubers were reviewing this game and just completely ignoring it acting like the game wasn't a total ripoff
Not only that, you have no dip switches where you can adjust the lives, no speed hack for Pac-Man, plus pacmania has a stage select and continue feature removed
What I was most excited for was Pac-Man Arrangement for consoles (I played this one on the psp collection), and two of the obscure Pac-Man Wii Exclusive games for other obscure Wii Collections (essentially collection-ception lol)
Got it on the Xbox Gamepass, and even tho I really enjoy me some Pac Man, it kinda felt underwhelming? I dunno what I was expecting, as it is just a Pac Man Collection. But I think the way the game just puts you into that preset arcade area, and those 500 coins just being there at the start, threw me off a little. Might just be my impression tho.
The PC version I played seemed pretty good. I went back to test the input lag after you mentioned it and I couldn't notice any. It's worth noting the game DOES have a simple games list, just press plus on your controller while in the arcade. The main problem for me was the vsync. The Vsync option only applies to the arcade, and it is EXTREMELY noticeable on games like Pac N Roll & Battle Royale. There's even screen-tearing on Pac-In-Time, like how???
i suggest you to disable v-sync in every game and enable it just from your control panel, then if you have a gsync-freesync display you should limit fps to "your refresh rate-3" (for example for a 144hz i will set the limit to 141), sorry for bad english
I'm glad other people other than myself are noticing the input delay on some of these games. I think it's at its worst in Super Pac-Man, Pac & Pal, and especially Pac-Mania and Pac-Land. In Pac-Mania, I immediately notice it when Pac-Man takes too long to output a jump... and I know I won't survive the later rounds with that shit. And in Pac-Land, I swear it's impossible to jump over this long body of water where you're required to repeatedly tap the "Move right" button or stick. (I have the Switch version btw) I don't notice it as much in the other games, though. I'm a little dubious on Pac-Man Arrangement '96, but I've been able to play it well.
You're better off getting the Arcade Archives ports of Super Pac-Man, and Pac-Land. WAY more options with gameplay and I know for a fact that at least that version of Pac-Land's input delay is lower.
@@uhhh_adam I might've noticed that, actually. I guess I also adapted to it as well since I'm very familiar with the game's mazes at this point, heh. That said, I swear it seems like I'm getting some dropped input in Pac-Man Arrangement '96. Sometimes Pac-Man will miss a turn despite the fact that I was pressing the stick in that turn well in advance. It happens sporadically as well.
I wish they expanded on the arcade part, but that's just me. The selection is great, and the achievements has spurred me to wanting to get good at pac man so badly. I just wish they would also give more attention to the other arrangement titles like dig dug and galaga arrangement which is some of namcos best arcade games. Also wish they would give some of the pac man world games some love.
I remember Pac in Time being a lot better after the first world. Each world has its own level style... it's a combination puzzle/platformer, and some worlds are mostly logic puzzles and others are mostly platform jump-and-shoot. I remember the puzzle element of the levels being what really made the game fun because you had to beat the level a certain way and it took time to figure it out.
Fun Facts :(1) Pac Motos is Based on Motos Arrangement released through Namco Museum Vol 2 in Japan on the PSP. (2) Pac Man Arrangement for the PSP has a Plus Version on that game as well. Featuring skins from Ms. Pac Man, Garobda, Mappy, ToyPop, DigDug II, and The Tower of Duraga(which also got an anime series). (3) Pac Man Battle Royale has almost 5 to 7 Casino Counterparts where people battle for money. (4) Pac Man Championship Edition had a World Championship back when it first came out brought to you by Quiznos, and there was a Pac Man Documentary that aired on the History Channel going into the background of the event and or the developnent of the game.
I’ve gotten used to the input delay and both of the arrangement games as well as the remix games from the Namco collection on wii were what sold me the most. I just hope they do add more customizations for games like with input delays and dip switch settings as an update. I also hope that they add DLC of the other Pac-Man Namco Remix games, get some of the royalties over with and add Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Man Jr. games in the future. Maybe then they could add co-op back again in the newer 3D Pac-Man Arrangement with Ms. Pac-Man. Also the fact that excluding Pac-Man Championship DX instead of having both versions instead of the regular lesser one is a crime. It’s a longshot that Pac-Man: Adventures In Time (NOT to be confused with Pac-In-Time), New Adventures, and the World trilogy would ever be included, but if it would ever happen, it would up the price, but still be worth it. tldr; I’m having a lot of fun just playing my childhood and getting used to the delay, but I hope they fix stuff and add more as DLC aside from royalties with AtGames.
I hope this game sells well enough to warrant all that period.. and if we get dlc, I hope it’s not JUST ms. Pac man because as much as I would buy it to support her I have it for my gamecube twice on a namco museum collection and in pac man world 2
New SilokHawk upload, let's go! ^^ I love hearing your takes on things, will definitely watch later after I take care of some planning. You cover a lot of niche topics that are very interesting.
Pac’n’roll actually has quite a few differences from pac’n’roll remix, the story is gone, there is no ghost world, but the final world is expanded upon from the final level stage in pac’n’roll remix
Playing it now and I love it :-D. But...Pac-Panick is driving me nuts to complete. But I feel Namco could have included a few more Pac-Man games from the past (excluding those they are in legal BS with); - Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures = Easy one to include and as it was the sequel to Pac-Land, it fits. - Professor Pac-Man = An arcade obscure game in the franchise but again, easy to include. - Some more of the Namco Museum Remix games from the Wii would have been fun to have included.
Honestly the only other things this collection really needs aside from no more input lag is having Ms. Pac-Man back, as well as Pac-Man Jr., Maze Madness, Adventures of Time, and maybe Championship Edition DX+. Aside from those though, idk what else you’d add apart from the Pac-Man World games, but those IMO deserve their own game. Online multiplayer would be nice too. Also bring back the multiplayer for Pac-Man Arrangement CS!
I’d like multiplayer for arrangement console in the future but I don’t think it will be for museum plus. I can only imagine how much work that would be for a regular patch. Sorry if I sound pessimistic.
Tbh I didn’t notice too much input delay but games like super pac man can be pretty tough when you’re trying to quickly go into maze sections while going fast.
I really hope they fix a number of these problems in a patch, though mostly performance and technical hiccups. I recently got this on Switch for about half price and during the one time I played Pac-Mania, there was an audio glitch during my first play though, which didn't stop until I quit out of that game. This would've been a great collection if it wasn't for all these issues. It could've even been a better collection than its predecessor we got over 10 years ago for Pac-Man's 30th anniversary. But I guess it really comes down to how much all of this is a bother to you. This collection and Sonic Origins both deserved to be better than what they turned out, but at least Namco had the decency to not remove all of their previous digital releases of Pac-Man that are already featured in this one.
Wasn't aware of input delay in this collection, might rethink on buying this game or wait for it to go on sale, since that definitely makes or breaks fast-paced games like this for me. Read some Steam reviews and it seems it isn't just exclusive to Switch or Xbox either, so take of that what you will.
*URGENT DAMAGE CONTROL: Pac-Man World Re-PAC is laughing at me right now. Next time I keep my mouth shut.* For those naive people who keep commenting "Duh, there should have been the entire Pac-Man World trilogy," let me tell you something right now. For Bandai Namco, the World series was a complete mistake. That can be translated into the sales failure that the second installment obtained in Japan at the time, that even Namco was disappointed in the development team in a legal document. And not to mention the third installment that was not even launched there. From the first installment, we barely had a relaunch for the PlayStation Network store in 2013, and from then on nothing more. And taking into account that Ms. Pac-Man and the Pac-Family are more than present there and the legal dispute that Ms. Pac currently have (thanks for nothing, ATGames), reediting the game to remove her would also imply REDOING THE CINEMATICS COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH. (And to add salt to the wound, they didn't even bother to do it like they did with Pac-Attack and Pac-In-Time, the latter of which makes it questionable that this one will make it in, but hey, at least it wasn't the infamous Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures.) It's really a shame because I would have liked to replay some World series entry as well, at least the first one, but as long as the conflict with the idiots at ATGames isn't resolved, chances are we'll all die old without getting a remastered trilogy. It makes it more than clear to us that Bandai Namco wants to force us to forget that the World series exists. But hey, we're going to get the Klonoa games remastered, so something is something. But as much as it goes around, practically the fate of Pac-Man fans is cast.
Oh, something that i forgot. Take into account that I did not mention the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures series, which although it was an attempt to return Pac-Man to the platforms with everything to win, which even had its own TV series, ended up being more that a financial disaster.
3D platformers aren't popular in Japan to begin with. Even 3D Mario sells poorly over there compared to the 2D entries, which is why 3D Land and 3D World were designed the way they were to cater to it's home region, much to the dismay of western fans.
Sadly, it seems unless Bandai Namco can actually resolve the legal BS, It's no wonder why this collection seems to be doing so poorly and why Klonoa's upcoming remasters are going to overshadow this game pretty soon.
Never knew why Ms. Pac-Man wasn't in Museum+ until now I guess maybe that can also be a reason why we might not get a Pac-Man World collection right now because she's in the first and third game
Pacman CEDX + the all you can eat pack. should've been included but it's definitely an amazing experience with all other titles included, the original championship edition is a very good bonus
Someone who has the Xbox version here: I got the game via Xbox gamepass a while back, played it for half an hour or so, enjoyed it. Looking back at it after this review, and I can really see the problems with input lag (which like you said, in a game like pac-man can be an absolute hell) and the other flaws with it. It’s fine experience and the relatively low price does make up for the lower quality a bit, but there are better ways to spend £20.
Dig Dug will forever be my favorite Bandai Namco game, it’s simplistic yet complex. Hard yet frustrating. Addicting too. It blows PAC-Man out the window. But I adore PAC-Man Championship Edition 2.
To me, Mappy is the best game Namco has ever created. In my opinion, Mappy puts both Dig Dug and Pacman to shame. Mappy is really fun, with lot of great gameplay mechanics. It's simple, yet it has a lot going for it, especially the strategy behind it. It also has one of the catchiest themes in video game history. Mappy is the best game ever in my opinion. I wish Namco makes a new Mappy game.
@@retrofan4963 I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried Mappy, but I’ll be heading to my retro arcade for it. Or just find a switch game. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@harpuavids No problem. You can recently get Mappy on the Switch. The original Arcade version of Mappy is ported to Arcade Archives in the Switch eshop service. And the NES version of Mappy is included in Namco Museum Archives Vol.1, which you can also get on the Switch. Here's a Gameplay sample of the original Arcade version of Mappy if you're curious how it plays. Let me know if you can see the link here. ua-cam.com/video/3D8sQCeGF1w/v-deo.html
I have no clue why I bought the physical Switch version of this game. Also yeah, this game should've been better overall. I found it weird that they only included a couple of Namco Museum Remix mini games. I would think they would've been better off just including all. But as we see with the settings, they clearly didn't want to take the time to do that. $20 really is a good deal for these games, but even though little graphical changes don't bother me too much, the lag sure was noticeable for me. I hope there will be an update to fix some of that stuff one day.
It is 2022, and fan-emulation is still billions of lightyears ahead of any commercial product. Sadly this will never change, as getting good at emulation is pricey, while fans who make emulators have years upon years of doing nothing BUT improve that one project. It's a sad truth, but no emulator that publically releases will ever be as good as fan emulation, especially for older consoles. Hell, even PS3 is getting there and that was always considered undoable, or close to at least
I was about to ask "What about Pac-Man World?" but that short spiel about Ms. Pac-Man answered it for me since she appears in that game... And it's a bugger too, because they we can see that they clearly have a functioning model of Pac-Man so they could have made a HD remake of that game. It is, in my opinion at least, a CLASSIC platformer from the era! EDIT: And not long after watching this video... what gets announced?
Jonii recommends SilokHawk's New Super Luigi U video in his Year of Luigi video And SilokHawk recommends Jonii's Ms. Pac-Man video in his Pac-Man Museum+ video 👍🏻
they had to use the japanese rom because the western release uses references to "Ms. Pac-Man" and namco does not own the rights to that character anymore
Pac-Man 256 is great! I got it on steam a while back and it's got some good replay value and progression, like you said. Shame about the rest of the fit & finish.
13:12 What makes it even worse with using the Japanese version of Pac-In-Time is that this version is EVEN HARDER than the American version so expect lots of instant KO moments and more frustration. I still enjoy this collection but I didn't like Pac-In-Time.
thanks for being honest, this was a good assessment and you really hit the spots many other folks will overlook and become apologists for. like, if there was already a better collection, a newer worse one is just silly :P
The battle royal is the only reason I bought it hahaha. There’s an Apple Arcade version call party royal but none of my friends want to subscribe to Apple Arcade. Wish I could just buy it
Ms. Pac-man is actually in pac-man museum plus, in pac-man arrangement (psp) in the credits (I'm not sure if she comes up in multiplayer or if she is pac-mom there)
A few times you call out some comments as being "who cares" tier, like the pixel details and the input lag, but I think stuff like that is extra important to call out in a review. I struggle to notice things like that, so I often rely on people who are sensitive to it to let me know what's good and what's not, because unless it's something you're exceedingly passionate about, it'll go over your head (like it does mine). Things like poor pixel presentation and input lag are the sort of things that most people DO notice, but don't understand, so they just have a vague feeling of "this feels bad and I can't explain why". There is an explanation; it's this! It's little things like that that they might not understand, but do exist and are real problems. If something like that doesn't bother you, then you can just ignore the statement and judge the game as if that wasn't a problem, but I like to know the depths of what makes something a poor port. I want to be playing games in the best way possible. Dan Videogames from GigaBoots is also a tech enthusiast and understands a lot about input lag and visual fidelity. I recommend him and his channel to anyone who wants someone who can help them deep dive and understand the technical aspects of video games. And I highly encourage SilokHawk to continue including stuff like that in his reviews; it's very important, even if a lot of people will just ignore it.
I don't see shimmering on the 360 version. One thing I don't like is the fact there's no full screen scaling though, I need to use the TV's zoom features for every game except C.E.
I'd never heard of Pac in Time before. The footage reminds me of those games you got bundled with your flip-phone in the mid-noughties, which are kind of lost to history these days.
I actually just recently received the playstation 4 version of this game and overall it is absolutely worth owning already I've already completed Pac-Man arrangement both the 1996 and 2005 versions and those where both very enjoyable for me to fully playthrough them both just to see what they had to offer also I just discovered that in terms of the 1996 version of Pac-Man arrangement viewing the model of the cabinet used Turns out to actually be a namco classic collection volume 2 cabinet witch I found that to be very interesting and I can't get over how adorableilly wholesome the style for the 2005 version of the game was from the moment I started that game I was immediately charmed by how adorable Pac-Man and the ghosts looked also during the credits sequence of that game I noticed that they forgot to remove ms Pac-Man I saw her during one of the pictures and was shocked to see that at least one of the titles still included her dispite all of the other games that featured appearances from her where completely changed I also got this compilation mainly because of Super Pac-Man Pac-Land Pac and Pal and also Pac mania overall this compilation was definitely worth adding to my collection of Pac-Man game's
Fair enough review. I do agree there's a lot of little things they could have improved on. It is silly for the latency to be there (albeit I can't say I've experienced many control issues myself - I use the Joycon "D-Pad"), and there could have been more options for the arcade games. I still have a lot of fun with the collection, overall, though, because there IS a lot of bang for your buck in this pack. The newer games are great additions that hold a lot of value, and the missions are great incentives to replay games you'd otherwise not touch or only play for a few minutes. And of course, $20 for 14 games and this additional content is a no-brainer regardless of the stated issues (Heck, I was ready to spend $40 on this before they revealed the price). All that said, I do have a few gripes with certain lines in this review still: -What you said about game engines in your newer video makes sense, but you still used the other phrase game devs frown upon - that being "too lazy." Even for something as small as the Pac-Man Battle Royale cabinet, that's still something you shouldn't say in any game dev context unless maybe it's of your own game and you *were* too lazy to do something. --This one isn't necessarily on you, as I don't expect everyone to know the whole Ms. Pac-Man story, but I'm still stating this - Bandai Namco does own Ms. Pac-Man, but what AtGames owns is the royalty share from developers GCC. They refuse to give AtGames any of that money, so they skirt around using Ms. Pac-Man. And Namco did work with Bally Midway on Ms. Pac-Man. -You mention that there's no option to just have a game list so you can select a game through that. But if you just pressed Start in the arcade, such a menu will indeed appear. Given the details you delve into here, it's a bit surprising that is overlooked.
Maybe one day they can have a patch to fix some of these issues? It seems like a solid collection and I would definitely play if they ironed out some of the problems mentioned.
The "shimmering" I mention is-barely noticeable because of a post bilinear filter Vegas uses when scaling clips.

Pac-Man gets released so much at least if something happens to the Original Pac-Man will still have versions of it LOL
There is a “game list” feature. You hit either X (on switch) or start
"I don't think any game as old as Pacman, is as good as Pacman"
idk man pong kinda slaps
(16:00) Tbf there actually is a game list, you access by pressing the plus button in the arcade and it will appear on the side. Tho they do never actually tell you about it lol.

You Know You Could Of Just Killed Pac-Man A Few Times. That’s What I Did. Pac In Time Sucks.
Same I unlocked pac in time just a few hours and I bought this game at launch other than that this game is superior
The game absolutely sucks until world 2, then it’s better but still not great, and the Japanese version is the worst one and the US version is more forgiving from what I have seen
@@JonahBoing I meant pac man museum plus is superior not pac in time

Fun fact: Ms. Pac-Man still appears in Pac-Man Arrangement (2005) in the end credits which I find funny because of how hard they tried to hide her
I've played on both Pacman Battle Royale machine models irl.
That is a great reason to buy it, if you needed justification. But no custom design for it kinda sucks quite a bit
I've only ever seen the table top version
Honestly this inclusion would and could make it a good pick for PC-based multicades or something of the nature

8:45 this is actually misinformation. Unity was used for the arcade menu, and porting the 3D/Modern games over. The games that are emulated aren't "emulated through Unity"

2:49: "Next time someone tells you that this games an Isometric game, you give them a big ol' kiss...I mean you tell them your wrong."
That sounds like an Romantic entanglement waiting to go wrong.
🤓"It's not isometric, it's cavalier."
I'm only kidding, of course.
Only if they’re dumb
Not at all what he said
I've also noticed that the arcade room has some strange collision issues when placing certain objects near each other.
Thank you for teaching me about cavalier shapes, I have now ascended to a higher level of geometrical knowledge.
I'm still calling isometric for the giggles.
Also I kinda hoped for a way to use the “Fast” version of Pac-Man, which is really really fun.
Baby Pac-man would be tough to port since there's that whole pinball part of the game.
For example:
Super Pac-Man has the harder japanese rom.
Two big downsides to this collection: No online multiplayer despite having 5 multiplayer games AND emulation sound issues
I think its best for this game to not have online mutiplayer. Like who's going to be playing this game after many months?
The PS1 games remain my favorites of the Museum series. They just got the whole package right, and really stood out amongst pretty much all other game collections thanks to those actual explorable museums. Glad you mentioned them near the end, they're just cool. :)
What's your thoughts on Mappy?
@@retrofan4963 It's a cute little retro game!
@@CharemTheShadox I agree. Mappy is actually my favorite game of all time :)

Every version has it
Isnt´s aceptable this input lag, the games are unplayable...
I wish they included the world games since I love 3D platform games and I would love to try ‘em out
impossible
They'd have to edit out the characters and unlockable games Midway created and since the characters appear in pre-rendered cutscenes, that would be impossible.
Just emulate the games if you have a means of doing so.
@@PipeGuy64Bit Is that the reason there isn't anymore Pac-Man world games?
@@PipeGuy64Bit That was a huge missed opportunity, but honestly, I get it.
hey
Wow, I remember playing Pac-Man Battle Royale once a long time ago. I’m surprised to see it here.
Yes
But he never blamed unity. He just said that unity probably wasn't the best choice for arcade game emulation
Did you even watch the whole video?
He wasn't blaming unity, he was blaming the game devs for using unity when they could have made an engine that they would know how to work with. Rather than an engine that isn't 100% suited for doing this specific task.
I feel like you missed the point of the video if this is your takeaway...
This video was about the fact that namco took the easy route instead of using the inhouse emulator they already have 🤓
Honestly, I wish Bandai Namco would just up and rerelease Pac-Man World the moment they get the rights to Ms. Pac Man back.
Why can't they just buy the rights?

And that was on xbox one
Thank you for noticing the input lag. I couldn't believe youtubers were reviewing this game and just completely ignoring it acting like the game wasn't a total ripoff

The reason why switch games are more is because cartridges are more expensive to develop than disks.
Disable free sync and see if you notice input lag
Definitely more excited for Klonoa 1+2 remasters from Bandai Namco next month
I'm glad other people other than myself are noticing the input delay on some of these games. I think it's at its worst in Super Pac-Man, Pac & Pal, and especially Pac-Mania and Pac-Land. In Pac-Mania, I immediately notice it when Pac-Man takes too long to output a jump... and I know I won't survive the later rounds with that shit. And in Pac-Land, I swear it's impossible to jump over this long body of water where you're required to repeatedly tap the "Move right" button or stick. (I have the Switch version btw)
I don't notice it as much in the other games, though.
Try going through a boost and turning while boosting. You'll notice it
@@uhhh_adam I might've noticed that, actually.
You can actually bring up a normal game list by pressing the +/menu/options button in the arcade.
HEY COMMENTERS, DON'T START DEBATING ABOUT THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.
depending on which side you're on, this might have just backfired on you
Fun Facts :(1) Pac Motos is Based on Motos Arrangement released through Namco Museum Vol 2 in Japan on the PSP.
For anyone who hasn't noticed, they finally updated it. It's playable now
What did the update improve?
But I feel Namco could have included a few more Pac-Man games from the past (excluding those they are in legal BS with);
- Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures = Easy one to include and as it was the sequel to Pac-Land, it fits.
- Professor Pac-Man = An arcade obscure game in the franchise but again, easy to include.
- Some more of the Namco Museum Remix games from the Wii would have been fun to have included.
You made me remember the pac man show again -.-
Honestly the only other things this collection really needs aside from no more input lag is having Ms.
When that Cleopactra Background music kicked in, man I just about transcended!
Pac Man Royale. I remember that and wanted a console release for years since.
Next time I keep my mouth shut.*
For those naive people who keep commenting "Duh, there should have been the entire Pac-Man World trilogy," let me tell you something right now.
(And to add salt to the wound, they didn't even bother to do it like they did with Pac-Attack and Pac-In-Time, the latter of which makes it questionable that this one will make it in, but hey, at least it wasn't the infamous Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures.)
It's really a shame because I would have liked to replay some World series entry as well, at least the first one, but as long as the conflict with the idiots at ATGames isn't resolved, chances are we'll all die old without getting a remastered trilogy.
@@SuperMarioFan123311 Well, that explains too much things...
Never knew why Ms. Pac-Man wasn't in Museum+ until now
I guess maybe that can also be a reason why we might not get a Pac-Man World collection right now because she's in the first and third game

Pacman CEDX + the all you can eat pack. should've been included but it's definitely an amazing experience with all other titles included, the original championship edition is a very good bonus
Someone who has the Xbox version here:
I got the game via Xbox gamepass a while back, played it for half an hour or so, enjoyed it.
Looking back at it after this review, and I can really see the problems with input lag (which like you said, in a game like pac-man can be an absolute hell) and the other flaws with it. It’s fine experience and the relatively low price does make up for the lower quality a bit, but there are better ways to spend £20.
Wonder how the input lag situation is on the Steam version since I wanna play it on my Deck (since that would be my Switch Pro at this point).

I just really want to see Pac-man world 2 again

I'd never heard of Pac in Time before. The footage reminds me of those games you got bundled with your flip-phone in the mid-noughties, which are kind of lost to history these days.
I actually just recently received the playstation 4 version of this game and overall it is absolutely worth owning already I've already completed Pac-Man arrangement both the 1996 and 2005 versions and those where both very enjoyable for me to fully playthrough them both just to see what they had to offer also I just discovered that in terms of the 1996 version of Pac-Man arrangement viewing the model of the cabinet used
Turns out to actually be a namco classic collection volume 2 cabinet witch I found that to be very interesting and I can't get over how adorableilly wholesome the style for the 2005 version of the game was from the moment I started that game I was immediately charmed by how adorable Pac-Man and the ghosts looked also during the credits sequence of that game I noticed that they forgot to remove ms Pac-Man
I saw her during one of the pictures and was shocked to see that at least one of the titles still included her dispite all of the other games that featured appearances from her where completely changed I also got this compilation mainly because of Super Pac-Man Pac-Land
Pac and Pal and also Pac mania overall this compilation was definitely worth adding to my collection of Pac-Man game's
All that said, I do have a few gripes with certain lines in this review still:
-What you said about game engines in your newer video makes sense, but you still used the other phrase game devs frown upon - that being "too lazy." Even for something as small as the Pac-Man Battle Royale cabinet, that's still something you shouldn't say in any game dev context unless maybe it's of your own game and you *were* too lazy to do something.
Thanks for typing all of my thoughts for me.
They missed an opportunity for Pac-Ma’am
Maybe one day they can have a patch to fix some of these issues? It seems like a solid collection and I would definitely play if they ironed out some of the problems mentioned.
I personally am having a blast with this game but for everyone else’s sake: Let’s hope so.🤞
“If there’s any game that hurts from latency it’s Pac Man”
*laughs in DDR*
I appreciated the extra amount of detail in this review! Super helpful!
