About AVATAR:
On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is poisonous, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na'vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world.

“That is one big damn tree” I must admit, the things Quaritch says is pretty funny

Me when playing elden ring
I like how the gunship pilot smiles every time he gets a compliment from Quaritch
That’s a really cool detail.
For the Omatikaya clan, the day the RDA flew in and destroyed Hometree was the most important day of their lives.
But for Colonel Quaritch... It was Tuesday.
Yeah. Most important day for Quaritch was probably the day he got triple skewered like a Kebab.

@@tyler-hp7oq actually she did, rewatch the movie war scene and you will see. She used her bow and take down gunship by shooting right into the pilot.
The reason her dad told people to get to the banshees is because while riding a banshee the na vis arrows are amplified by the speed they are going making the arrows like cannon balls

Watching some scenes on these 4K videos and it makes you see the CGI even better and really shows how much more impressive it was than any other movie of its time , no one even came close until “The Way of Water” released and took the cake from its older brother , the scene where Neytiri tries to stay with her father . Go watch in slow motion and feast your eyes on that CGI , It’s incredible !!!!
I thought these movies owed a lot to 2005’s KING KONG, which had some groundbreaking CGI fight sequences (Kong v. Ugly Reptiles).
This scene shook me to my core when I rewatched it in theatre
Quaritch is such a boss. It's nice to watch a sci-fi flick where the humans are the aliens raining down destruction for once.
Fr, as much as I know we’re the bad guys here, I love seeing the night human technology
When people think of aliens they also think of spaceships and high tech. These aliens still use bow and arrow. The humans are the more advanced ones.
I never thought of it that way! Their copters are basically UFOs to the natives of this planet. And when you watch an alien invasion movie and the ships seem bulletproof or have a shield, like their arrows don’t work on these invading machines
@sierrajohnson717 Exactly and the way the characters are written. The higher up humans are evil they don't care about the planet or its nature population. Yet the planets natives fought in self defence and even accepted Jake and other human defectors among them.
@@sierrajohnson717 Even if it doesn't make any sense, we need a sci-fi movie were aliens attack a far more developed planet

Humanity literally crosses between planets at near lightspeed, at the top of a ten-thousand year old corpse pile that is civilisation, and then loses because some tall blue people get the privilege of a biological USB cable. One of the poorest attempts at anti-capitalist / anti-industrialist theming I've seen.

HUMAN POWER!!!
Humen: Hey guys, can we mine your resources as long as you stay out?
Na'Vi: No.
Humen: But we won't destroy your tree. We just plan to mine the resources underneath it.
Na'Vi: No.
Humen: We only want you out of the tree so that when things go wrong, none of you get hurt or worsen the situation.
Na'Vi: No.
Humen: Do you guys even need Unobtainium?
Na'Vi: No.
Humen: So can you at least let us have it and find use for it that might be beneficial for us?
Na'Vi: No.
Humen: Well, we tried. attacks
Na'Vi: NOOOOOOO
The tree is basically their ancestral home and thus a huge part of their cultural identity, history and heritage, not just the place where they happen to live. It’s like asking modern Romans if it’s okay that they leave their ancient city so that you can destroy it, because there’s a precious metal beneath it. “We want to have what’s in the ground beneath your ancient city, will you please move so that we can destroy your city and build a mine?”
That’s why the Omaticaya didn’t want to leave, and why they acted so aggressively towards the first actions of mining by humans. It’s more difficult to understand for us, because to us it’s just an alien forest, but it’s the same thing as a foreign army invading and bulldozing your entire country plus sacred sites and historical places because they want to have what’s in the ground there, but at least they politely asked first whether or not they could bulldoze your country.
How can you mine the metals under the tree without destroying the tree itself? Even if dig under the tree without cutting it it would collapse under its own weight since right under the tree are its roots. Also by digging under the tree without cutting it will kill it since that's where the roots are that bring nutrients to it, without the roots the tree will die. You literally make no sense. Lastly you know that the entirety of Pandora is full of unobtanium? It's not just the Hometree that's full of unobtanium, humans only chose to attack the Omatikaya because Hometree is closest source to Hell's gate, the human base. So by your logic humans could just move their base elsewhere and make mines somewhere where the land isn't occupied by the Na'vi, remember it's a whole planet that has unobtanium not just a small part of one of the many rainforests of Pandora.

Soooo, Trudy's big breaking point that causes her to turn against her species is chopping down a tree?
More like her breaking point was killing innocents.
This Tree was the Home and symbol of a whole clan. It's not chopping down a tree, it's destroying a people and their whole Life.
but from her perspective, it's just a tree; heavily guarded by savages that were just about to murder her comrades. They even used gas to scatter them first, which didn't seem lethal. She knows how desperate the mission is, she knew it would require some measure of violence, but can't fathom using the weapons they brought to drive off a hostile force
@@nm-cp4ck I know you're just baiting us for a response but I'll fill in the blanks for everyone else:
At this point Trudy doesn't associate herself with the rest of the RDA or Colonel Quaritch's mercenaries; rather she's nearly on the side of Dr Grace and her teams beliefs that humanity shouldn't be bothering the Na'vi at all. In the deleted scenes Trudy is the one rushing Jake to finish his SITREPs so she can deliver them to the Colonel, reminding him that all they need to do is stall for more time.
This scene isn't her just chopping down a tree, it's essentially the same as firebombing neighbourhoods filled with innocent people that you know can't matchup against you. She isn't there for the money or the violence like the others are.

The only thing I could not figure out till date - Nitiri becomes a sharp shooter where her bows always penetrate through glass and kills the pilot , but why didn't their bows break glasses on the day when they came to blast the tree ?
Whatever scifi form of windshield they have on their aircraft, cameron is the one that decided the limit of what the glass can take. These bows are more like the old ballista siege engines which have around 75kJ of kinetic energy which would rip armored glass like paper, and thats even more than a 20mm round. Here they are firing from the ground at an off angle, but in the later scenes they were flying down at them at high speed + straight angle of approach which further increases the kinetic energy
angle matters a lot with arrows tbh, shooting from below wont work due to how the glass is positioned, the arrows will slide right off, you can see them chipping the glass but unable to penetrate as its slant makes them slide past, thats why all pilot kills are from above, the arrowhead can actively make contact without sliding
@@BitrateBilly Yup this is how you write good sci-fi elements, it's grounded in physics and reality
@@seedee3d according to the movie, their arrows are twice as big as human arrows, they would never reach the kinetic energy of a firearm that cannot shoot through glass in certain calibers. No one solves the arrow itself, is it made of wood, feathers, strings and the shaft of the arrow? I haven't seen furnaces for casting metal, I doubt that they know how to refine steel to achieve a hardness that won't bend or break, because a stone or wood block probably won't shoot through 3-5 cm thick armored glass resistant to shrapnel from grenades and projectiles. According to reality, they wouldn't even be able to hit the target in flight, the energy itself would be incredibly reduced by just a slight wind, and there are helicopters flying there that blow well there, so no, according to reality, there wouldn't even be such a clash, first people would bomb their entire army, if they used different gases to paralyze them, I personally would launch rockets from orbit and just obliterate the whole area with flying rocks.
