I find it beautifully done how the old man on the boat was the only one willing to kill her with the knife. Really shows his years of experience, finally understanding lust is a very negative thing.

To classify lust as something negative per se just shows how some religious beliefs nurture unhealthy attitudes towards our basic emotions. As long as one's lust doesn't hurt anyone else, it can be a very good (and healthy) thing.
For some people this isn't just a regular mermaid, this is a siren, sirens use their beauty and their voices(singing) to lure sailors/pirates into the waters to then eat them.

Mermaids differ from culture to culture so there is no right way to depict a mermaid. The modern western concept of the mermaid actually comes from sirens, who were originally not even depicted as half fish but half bird.

Gemma Ward just has a face that looks very otherworldly, she was a perfect casting choice for the 'main mermaid'.

I come back to this scene every so often because its just beautiful! The thing that sticks out to me the most is her voice, she isnt a high pitched disney mermaid, shes an alto, a deep sexy voice that sets her apart from other depictions of sirens and mermaids! The irony of all of this, is I really like to think that she did end up giving Scrum a kiss - because he somehow survives despite being literally in the hands of one of them and then he's like "I'm in love!" - I think this would have been more implied if they had kept the deleted scene (I think it's on the Bluray) where Jack is in the water and a mermaid comes up to him, recognizes him, then slaps him and swims away and Jack has that look like "I deserved that" - that the mermaids do end up having romances with some sailors that they choose.

im not sure if its intended, but i like how the sirens singing voice was very slightly fuzzy in a way, it makes them feel non-human and as if they're trying to blend in by mimicking human sound. which kind of makes sense

I was in a pirates of the caribbeans amusement park and we could drive a boat inside a dark ship which had the same evironment and vibe as in this video. I can tell you it was scary because i thought there were jumpscares, imagine how you would feel if those sirens would show up with that singing...damn.

an usher or ticketing lady is a gimmick in the movie theatres in my country, they are on par with catwalk models and flight attendant.
they also get paid well.
movie theatres are always inside a mall in my country, those who don't already died out.
this is also why malls are still crowded in my country.
i never late so i always come 30 minutes early...and she did came 15 minutes early.
she keep her phone down during our first date.
and the barista played a proposal song in the sound system,
i stayed cool and she just smiled.
she doesn't have high education but she is smart and well mannered.

The original sirens of Greek mythology were not mermaids. They were depicted as part bird part woman. Which makes sense because birds sing, while sea creatures don't. It was only later that sirens were made to look like mermaids.
Or rather, mermaids were made to act like sirens.
