for me Friends of Mineral Town is the pinnacle of harvest moon... it has all of the classic feels, loved and well-known characters, dozens of festivals and activities, a load of farm expansions... great memories. Wonderful life was just too realistic for me. I just wanted a whimsical farm simulator like 64 and FoMT expanded A LOT on that.
I bought a brand new mint condition green GBA lite (with adjustable backlight) and a *NEVER OPENED NEVER PLAYED STILL IN THE BOX MINT CONDDITION* Friends of mineral town copy. I actually cant put it down.. that was 2 months ago..
My favourite is harvest moon DS for sure. I love the goal of finding all the harvest sprites and all the villagers have their own personalities so it's not a chore to befriend them. And I love the excavation site and the mines in this game. Plus, the US version has poker and blackjack
Personally, my most fave is Tale of Two Towns because I love cooking and having a cooking competition every week really made me bias towards it. However, in terms of nostalgia, overall gameplay, characters, memorable soundtrack and graphics, Friends of Mineral Town or More Friends of Mineral Town is the best. When people ask me which HM/SoS they should play first to really get into the series, I recommend FoMT/MFoMT immediately because it was also the game which introduced me to this. :)
Man I remember when I first played it. I chose bluebell first cuz I just love animals. I really mad at myself when I accidentally deleted it and my most recent saved file was Year4 fall7 where I still dont have my daughter.
Animal parade and another wonderful life will always have a special place in my heart. Especially animal parade. Another wonderful life was my very first introduction to harvest moon when I checked the game out at a video rental place. I loved and played every harvest moon since.
Animal parade is one of my all time favorite games. It was the first of the series I played, with A new Beginning being the second which didnt feel the same to me. I would love for a remaster of AP with new additions!
YES SAME! Animal Parade is the BEST harvest moon game. It doesnt get a lot of attention since its played on the wii, but god! it has everything in a harvest moon game and more! I wish they would recreate it that way people will get to play it! It's absolutely the best!
As someone who has played 90% of HM games I’d say Animal Parade deserves to be in the top 5. But unfortunately a lot of people haven’t played so it never is unless its under top 10 instead. Animal Parade in my opinion is tied for first with A wonder Life. It allows you to have 2 children instead of one, and has 10 bachelors/ bachelorettes each to choose from.
I want to play it now 😢 where did u play it? I recently played hero of leaf valley and i like it but there’s not many bachelorettes and not much festivals but i like the cutscenes and the dialogues
I just remembered about this series when i was thinking about my gameboy advance i had when i was about 5-6. Suddenly had a flashback about a game, where i never had a damn idea of what i was doing the whole time i was playing, but would still play anyway. All i remember is the plants, the cows, the cozy house, the frickin rain and the sound effects of the rain that somehow has left one of the strongest impressions about this game. Sure enough i found myself looking for that game on youtube and here i am, decades later. Miss those days when i had it all and was so innocent. So much has changed obviously but nostalgia hitting real hard right now.
Real gaming leaves strong impressions ; when years later, completely out of context, you think: "I was just having fun, I didn't know I was making memories" you know that the game was good. This is something that casual shooters like Fortnite will NEVER be able to offer.
I started with AWL, absolutely nothing compares to the beauty and the feelings evoked in that game. I go back to it every couple of years to play through and it has aged so well. I have been aching for a game that accomplishes the same feeling and joy that AWL has evoked in me, and I have never been able to find it. Such a shame that Harvest Moon has let their brand die out. I remember being so painfully disappointed when they released Magical Melody after AWL... like you had something good going for you there and you killed it!
Agreed. It's such a beautiful game, and was my first HM game as a child. But it can be somewhat depressing at times. Like when the elderly woman dies after year 1. That actually made me cry when I was little because I felt sorry for her husband. ;-;
Tail of two towns Magical melody Harvest moon ds Harvest moon a new beginning And #1 is the original snes Harvest moon. Its has an ending. 2.5 years to see what you can earn in that time
Harvest Moon Animal Parade by far the best harvestmoon game! There are so much things you can do in the game. And there continues to be more aand more cut scenes eve after finishing the game and getting married. (i. e other bachelors and bachelorettes hearvt event, getting married, having cutscenes with their kids, other people having cut scenes with their kids, etc. theres so much combinations and events that can happen with everyones interaction). The storys amazing, and its increibly magical. Hands down the best harvest moon game. I've played almost all of them and I can say this ones right. It doesnt get a lot of attention when it should! So should HM Tree of tranquility!
There are a LOT of these. Pretty cool to find out that the only 2 I played are some of the best they made. HM 64 and BtN Ps1. Really liked both very much.
Harvest moon a wonderful life was my and my sisters first harvest moon game ever, and we loved it a lot even though we didn’t know what to do in it😅 now that I’m 23 I wanna play and know the storyline
Natsume harvest moon is sucks, but the only thing i like in that game is the time, i already do all the job, gift and talk to people and it still 2 pm lol Sorry about my english
I’ve only played The Lost Valley, sorry I’m so inexperienced but I definitely want to play these! Thanks for widening my vision of these beautiful games, now I see how different The Lost Valley is! :)
Hearing the BGM really bring you back, especially Back to Nature & Wonderful Life. Simple and repeating yet match the season, place & character. Truly masterpiece.
Trio of towns is my fave. The least one I like is Sunshine island, loved the bachelors but, it was to slow for me. I love all the rune factory spin offs of harvest moon! Except for tides of destiny.
Trio of Towns is definitely my favorite! I don't know if you can see it, but my profile picture is actually a picture of Wayne from Trio of Towns that I drew a while back. I've played other games like Tale of Two Towns, Animal Parade, A New Beginning, and the original Story of Seasons. But nothing has been able to top Trio of Towns, at least in my opinion.
I LOVE ALL THE RUNE FACTORY SPIN OFFS TOO! I've played from 1 to 5 and I love them all! :,3 And my favourite Harvest Moon game (I recenlty bought Animal Parade and really can't wait to play it >w
I’ve only played one which I I never knew the name of, DS Cute and The Tale of Two Towns. So the first one I played it as a child and didn’t really know what to do, but I Loved it! And I loved the blacksmith jr (I think it was MFoMT) and between DScute and TToTT, DScute is by far the best. So many random events, so many details and secrets, and you also get to interact with the folks from Mineral Town
Super late comment, but I wish you would have mentioned the time progression in WL/AWL. That was one of my favorite parts of the game that’s pretty unique to HM. Also, the way your family works and how much variability there is when raising your child.
i'm surprised there aren't many people saying grand bazaar! i was literally ADDICTED when i was a kid, even though i really had no idea what i was doing
Still here in 2022 omg i loved harvest moon 64, the music was so good to listen to while playing and the characters are so cute if they can bring HM 64 into nintendo switch, that'd be amazing Also loveddd FoM and Wonderful life, music and gameplay wow so much memories playing these games
See, I love Stardew Valley because it's honestly just Harvest Moon but more. And I love the idea of a casual farming life sim that I can play a little each day. But there's almost TOO much to do in Stardew. Like, I'm always so focused on doing everything I can, that it gets tiring to play. Gotta work on the mines, gotta get enough ore and coal to upgrade my tools, gotta get that museum filled, gotta do the community center stuff (also meaning I gotta focus on what I have and need to keep which in and of itself can be a pain in the ass), but also gotta keep people happy and remember birthdays, and focus on marrying someone, and I gotta still plant and water my crops to make money, and then I gotta say hi to all of my animals otherwise they get mad at me and I don't get any produce from them, oh and don't forget the seasonal events you gotta participate in, and the fact that your crops die the instant the season changes so you gotta keep track of when not to plant new stuff, and I also gotta kill monsters to get the adventurer guild stuff done, and I gotta try to get the legendary fish, and just finish the basic fish collection.... And it just starts feeling like work. Like a JOB. I also recently purchased Gleaner Heights. Similar type of thing where it's trying to be Harvest Moon on modern consoles with a bit of a 'Stranger Things' vibe to the world. It's lacking a lot of stuff. It's no where near as feature-packed as Stardew, but.....it's also a lot less stressful to play. I can load it up, do my farm stuff, and go to bed. And I don't worry about if I missed out on something. But, the downside is that I don't feel like I'm part of the WORLD. Like, I just kinda do my planting, watering, and selling, then go to bed until the next day where I repeat the process. I don't feel like I have any reason to talk to anyone, or explore. I just do some basic stuff to keep my money going up, and repeat. So, I've been looking for a Harvest Moon to play. Thinking maybe playing an ACTUAL Harvest Moon game would fit my need. Something that's more involved than Gleaner Heights, but less hectic than Stardew Valley. Thing is, I don't know a damn thing about actual Harvest Moon. From the little I've seen and played, the games feel super clunky when it comes to the menus, inventory, and UI. So it's hard for me to get into them when a huge chunk of the game is obnoxious to use. Stardew is a massive pain in my ass, but at least it's easy to play. So, here I am, looking up videos about which Harvest Moon games are worth trying, to see if I can find one to play.
The 1st Harvest Moon game that I played is HARVEST MOON BOYS N GIRLS ... I jst loved it 💛 ... It still makes me want to cry remembering the good old days 😭😭😭
I actually liked Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility the most! Of course A Wonderful life has a special place in my heart, being it was the first Harvest Moon game I played.
played many harvest moon, wonderful life is the best for me, the feeling for character and music is amazing. You can die old age and many secret scene for example if you open the door from opposite side at the same time the girl from the bar open the door it will trigger lovely scene. The most sad thing for me when Takakura final words on the beach about mc when he died
another version i like called " innocent life" same developer as harvest moon. The difference that mc is a robot and mission to save the village from volcano. There is many unique tech that useful for farming too. character feel is great too. sadly cant marry lmao cause mc is robot
Harvest Moon 64 is my favorite game of all time (tied with Majora's Mask), and it feels good to see it recognized at the top of the list :) Childhood memories are so strong playing that game, and I get just as much enjoyment out of it now!
While back to nature is the one who introduced me to the series and make me fall in love with harvest moon games. My favorite harvest moon game is had to be hero of leaf valley. It's a unique one, with many "boss events" and multiple endings. It's not a perfect harvest moon game but i could play it again and again. Also rune factory 3 is a pretty good game too, but so far that's the only rf game that I've played
I'm playing sunshine islands and there are so many things to do. Omg, your stamina is not enough and ahhhhh, it's a bit difficult but i am determined to finish it! The old ones are always the good ones. I've played mineral town, grand bazaar, and tale of two towns so far haha
You can play harvest moon Island of happiness too and have you tried rune factory: a fantasy harvest moon?? It's awesome but Rune factory3 is my fav so far. Try playing animal parade, tree of tranquility and harvest moon a new beginning.
@@justtosuffer4604 i haven't yet! They say sunshine islandsis better than island of happiness tho, which is why i played it instead. There are so many to play xD I'll get right on it when i finish. I have always been curious abut rune factory o.o what do you do there?? Is it like harvest moon?
Harvest moon boy and girl was the most nostalgic HM for me. I played it before on my psp up until my psp broke hahaha. Wasn't able to play it for a long time and wasn't able to get married. I also lost my horse back then xD.. I played the game again on my phone using an emulator and was able to accomplish my goals in the game :))
HM 64 was my first game in the series, it was my last year of elementary school, it was winter and I was sick with the flu, google "The best games of the n64" and in the list of 100 games I found that name so weird with a child running and a dog that followed him, at first he did not understand it, but after making so many mistakes I could find his charm, for some reason he transported me to another life, a "quiet" life in which the only fear I had was that some animal dies or a crop withers ... But it was also a precious life in which nature surrounded me and people were very good, with few worries ... After overcoming three years and getting everything the game I had proposed, my computer was infected with a virus and the only option was to eliminate everything ... At that time I had nothing to keep my games, not a Pendrive, not an empty CD, nothing ... And at that time I knew mediafire or those things ... Then one night before they eliminated my progress, I said goodbye to my wife, my son, my animals and my friends ... I wanted to start all over again, but it would not make sense anymore.
The very first Harvest Moon that I played was the Friends of Mineral Town. I even cried when I lost all my saved files and had to restart all over again😭. But yeah, that was the start of my harvest moon addiction. I've played several versions now and so far, I can't get enough of Hero of Leaf Valley.
Yess! I was so happy to see HM 64 in the number one spot. My first harvest moon and I now own a phyical copy of every game in the series and every pre-order stuffed animal! Just earned my like and subscription.
Animal Parade is my favorite harvest moon game. I see its may others in the comment section also. My first harvest moon was AWL, and I love the game, but I cant say its my favorite. I really want to get magical melodies one of these days. Should order it online.
Harvest Moon Back to Nature/Boy and Girl holds a special place in my heart because its my first Harvest Moon game. My favourite though is Innocent Life and Hero of Leaf Valley
64 was my first and to me will always be the best. Wonderful life comes in second, lol. Actually all of these are favorites of mine as well as Animal Parade.
A wonderful life is great for a few reasons: it's relaxing soundtrack, especially the one you were playing in the video. And, the subtle start of the changing of seasons, which started changing even before the calendar said it was the next season! I believe even in the rain, there was a bit of fogginess to it, too. This game was ahead of it's time man, and I hope Marvelous makes a remake of it, too! I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat!
I love the simplicity of fomt.... Back to nature is complicated because in the first few days i tried so hard to make my way through town even while looking at the map, plus
My 2 favourites are tree of tranquility then back to nature. I got right into tale of two towns for awhile as well. I don't see how you can say the gba game is better than the ps1 game and found a wonderful life really boring but hey, to each their own :)
my number 2 is Trio of Towns because having 3 towns based on different cultures give us an interesting cast of characters to enjoy. and then there's the amount of content. seriously there's just so much. my number 1 is A New Beginning. the expansive customization really makes it shine.
Harvest moon ps1 will always be number 1. So many days of bartering with my best friend to take turns playing it to see who could get the farthest. It had a sad ending tho
A Wonderful Life has always been my personal favorite I was always hoping they'd bring back the bulls and roosters but HM is a shell of its former self currently Yeah there's story of seasons but I'll always long for the older stuff
I never thought I'd be searching for top 5 harvest moon games today.
So am I
Games are happy, simple happy games ...
Same I wanted to re-play harvest moon games 😂
yeah
ToadRules same I need a new game 😭
for me Friends of Mineral Town is the pinnacle of harvest moon... it has all of the classic feels, loved and well-known characters, dozens of festivals and activities, a load of farm expansions... great memories. Wonderful life was just too realistic for me. I just wanted a whimsical farm simulator like 64 and FoMT expanded A LOT on that.
I AGREE !! I LOVE GBA Harvest moon 😚 FoMT The best
Quique Leal Yeahhhh same here! Don't forget MFoMT too! It has more features compared to FoMT just like it name~ 😊
Couldn't agree more!!! I play the game to relax but a wonderful life is too realistic so it make me bored and stressed
It was the same to me, until i played the HMDS, which felt like a better version of FoMT
We have a remake for switch on October 17
Mineral town is best town
I played it for HOURS! Even pretty late at night, hidding from my parents jajaja the best for me!
I can't install it anymore what happened. (T-T)
I dont play it,but I am going to buy his remake,I hope that it is fun
I bought a brand new mint condition green GBA lite (with adjustable backlight) and a *NEVER OPENED NEVER PLAYED STILL IN THE BOX MINT CONDDITION* Friends of mineral town copy.
I actually cant put it down.. that was 2 months ago..
Why
My favourite is harvest moon DS
Why?
Because its the only one I've played!
Luxourious Gaming same here! It’s so fun! But it kill me inside when the game broke two harvest sprites before getting the goddess back :(
Same. ^^
I laughed way harder than I should
Lmao, I played it too and I think it's good-tbh just because Skye is there lol
You can play it on android phone ^^

I still remember enjoying this game when I was a little kid despite not knowing how to really play it...

A Wonderful Life and Another Wonderful life are by far the best (My Opinion)
Madison Croft agreed
Them and 64. I'd say 64 is really hard to beat for that number one spot though.
Actually AWL and Another AWL is the worst in my opinion... engine is totally bad. This should have title "top 5 random harvest moon games".
so what are your favorites then?
Animal Parade, Tree of Trianquality, N64, Back to Nature. That's my TOP 4 for sure.
My favourite is harvest moon DS for sure. I love the goal of finding all the harvest sprites and all the villagers have their own personalities so it's not a chore to befriend them. And I love the excavation site and the mines in this game. Plus, the US version has poker and blackjack
Yes! Harvest Moon DS is still pretty great, I loved trying to get through the mines as a kid!
Try hero of leaf valley, it had the same complexity for the gameplay
Personally, my most fave is Tale of Two Towns because I love cooking and having a cooking competition every week really made me bias towards it.

The best for me is Harvest Moon hero of leaf valley.
The graphics are amazing and the goal of the story is unique.
Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, A Wonderful Life, Rune Factories and Magical Melody is the BEST game in my preference.
Animal parade and tree of tranquility are very similar but for me tree of tranquility was better
Harvest Moon 64, ahhh, the memories. Played it so much as a kid. PERFECTION
a wonderful life was my harvest moon game amd no other harvest moon game had captured my interest beside the runefactory series.
I still think my favorite is tree of tranquility, mainly because I love walking around the big island and seeing everything along the way.
I started with AWL, absolutely nothing compares to the beauty and the feelings evoked in that game. I go back to it every couple of years to play through and it has aged so well. I have been aching for a game that accomplishes the same feeling and joy that AWL has evoked in me, and I have never been able to find it. Such a shame that Harvest Moon has let their brand die out. Agreed. It's such a beautiful game, and was my first HM game as a child. But it can be somewhat depressing at times. Like when the elderly woman dies after year 1. That actually made me cry when I was little because I felt sorry for her husband. ;-;
Great job! I always like it when these lists include Magical Melody, which is my favorite.
I LOVE Friends of Mineral Town. That game really blew my mind as a kid. It felt so endless. Mineral Town is just iconic even though it's so simple.
My favorite is definitely A Wonderful Life, although it can be rather somber at times (such as the old lady dying).
Grand Bazaar and Innocent life: A futuristic Harvest moon have always been my favorites.
Tail of two towns
Magical melody
Harvest moon ds
Harvest moon a new beginning
And #1 is the original snes Harvest moon. Its has an ending. 2.5 years to see what you can earn in that time
Magical melody was so soo good, I wish they just took that style and ran with it. LUCKY
I wish they mix the gameplay of back to nature and magical melody
I never see anyone talk about magical melody, it’s the best.
Xo Nelly Xo Like seriously, it’s the epitome of nostalgia! It was actually *magical* for me
best game hands down
I wish they made more 2d harvest moon games like "friends of mineral town" it just doesn't fit with 3d
Who’s here in 2022 looking back on the good old days missing harvest moon I think I was 5 when it came out

Friends of mineral town was Harvest Moon at it's prime
Thanks for this video it’s very interesting for one who does not know much about those games.
Love how this video got recommended when *Story of Seasons: Mineral Town* is announced
played many harvest moon, wonderful life is the best for me, the feeling for character and music is amazing.
I literally lived my life in forget-me-not valley, love it with all of my heart 😢💖
A Wonderful Life was my first game. And it holds a special place in my heart ❤️
As another sequel. How about 'Harvest Moon- End Game' . You could kill off the characters you never liked. x
Why does this only have 8 like this is a great vid I'm sharing your channel wherever I can
Ironically, I got all three of these games from various family members the same Christmas I got my PSP so I feel ya on the nostalgia part 😅
What about the best game of all?
Harvest Moon for the Super Nintendo.
Meh. Too rough around the edges.
Feels nice to look back whilst i'm playing Story of Season : Friends of Mineral Town
Im also playing. Its super fun. So sad many will skip it due to graphics. But it looks miles better on the TV then in the trailers.
64 was my first and to me will always be the best. Wonderful life comes in second, lol. Actually all of these are favorites of mine as well as Animal Parade.
Animal parade on wii is my favourite. The story, gameplay, characters, mini events and graphics in my opinion are unrivalled by later games
I only played the 64 one and the original gameboy one. The other ones look cool too. I remember getting to year 7 on my original game.
Yup, A Wonderful Life feel different but great! Too shame my PS2 give out before I finish it..
Back To Nature, Boy and Girl is the best of all
My first HM was HM: Friends Of Mineral Town
Great one to start out with!
My favorites are A Wonderful Life, Animal Parade, and Tree of Tranquility! 😁
I just got into the series with A Wonderful Life SE on the PS4
Jesus... I'm more addicted than I was with God of War!

Yess
Ikr
1.wonderful life
2.mineral towns
3. Grand bazaar.
Why many HM player dosent like grand bazaar by the way? I feel grand bazaar so underrated
Nice list!
Harvest moon ps1 will always be number 1. So many days of bartering with my best friend to take turns playing it to see who could get the farthest. It had a sad ending tho
I always like the Harvest Moon Save the homeland, it really accompanied me go through my bored and unhappy teenager times
DS is very underrated
Harvest moon is timeless
My Top 5
Stardew Valley>Hero of Leaf Valley>A New Beginning>Harvest Moon 64>Back to Nature
A Wonderful Life has always been my personal favorite
I was always hoping they'd bring back the bulls and roosters but HM is a shell of its former self currently
Yeah there's story of seasons but I'll always long for the older stuff
A wonderful life was my absolute fave! Oh the nostalgia!
Hearing the Harvest moon boy and girl theme song was so nostalgic man.
I forgot the game that I've played when I was a kid and I was so addicted to that game. Maybe it was harvest moon boy and girl
Honestly AWL and Magical Melody were my favorites. AWL for the breeding mechanics for the animals, and MM for everything else.
I generally prefer the look of the pixel style versions, like DS. just looks cuter and more timeless to me.
Im playing harvest moon btn again because of this. Im reliving my childhood memories 😍🥰
That's awesome!
I remembered playing this as a kid.. great game
