I don't. Landon Cassil has been in NASCAR for nearly *15 years* & has never come close to winning a race in *any* series... ever. Literally Landon's signature moment in NASCAR is his poor attempt of a Bobby Hamilton Jr. impersonation at Memphis... That's _literally_ it.
Austin Dillion flat out drove his tail off for that win...plus on older tires, holding off a teammate and past champions. Well earned! Fun fact: I met Austin at PIR this year, to turn around and bump into Eric in the infield during Saturday Qualifying!! Didn't take a picture with AD, but had to with Eric
People will say the package allowed Austin to win since you "couldn't pass the leader", but stages 1 and 2 had a lot of side-by-side battles for the lead
Kyle Busch becomes a giant, metal lawnmower and goes from around 17th up to the top 5, and ends up finishing 4th after lots of late-race cautions. *Confusion 100*
Austin Dillon's first win that wasn't a fluke 2017 Coke 600 Johnson runs out of gas with 2 laps to go. 2018 Daytona 500 Wrecks Almorola on the last lap.
Was there and oh my. I’ve been to a lot of Texas races over the years and this was a damn good Texas race. 3 car battle for the lead at one point, multiple leaders and lead changes, chaos, unpredictability and an Austin Dillon win somehow. I *LOVED* it. Also it was hot as hell and I’m burnt and tired af lol
I can't believe I'm saying this but guys I'm losing faith in playoff hopes in 7-time champion, but at least we didn't lose a spot but lost 32 Pts, but hopefully we can recover...... I hope.........also this win for Dillon was most earned than the 600 in '17 and the 500 in '18 🤞 fingers crossed anyone?
His cars are fast this year and he's actually running well. That's a major difference compared to the last two years. He made the playoffs in 2018 with worse cars. I would bet on him making the playoffs. The bad luck has to end eventually
As soon as Blaney won stage 2 I was like "wow, Blaney's doing really good today. Can't wait to see what happens to him with like 20 laps to go that makes him finish in like 15th."
Outside of Sunday when I didn't go, I've gone to Cup races at Texas since 2007, because it's an hour from home. The 2 best races I ever saw there (cup-wise) were both 2007 races. Pre-COT era.
Thomas Apple Hamlin, harvick, Busch, truex, and Elliott, might’ve been more, but I can only remember 5. Hamlin at Daytona, Elliott at Dega, I think and the big three everywhere else. I might be wrong on this, but idk
Eric: "Jimmie Johnson with a top 30 finish" Whoop dee doo. Out of 40 cars, he get a top 30 finish. Will Eric be equally as excited if JJ48 finishes 39th?!? "He wasn't dead last!! Good finish for Jimmie!!"
He was congratulating the 48 team for not giving up, they were dead last at one point in the race and fought back to finish 26th with a damaged car. Thats pretty impressive
The green flag pit stop strategy was fun to see. I like that the stage cautions split the race into 1/3 to allow this to happen. Despite the long green flag runs the cars tend to stay close together which made for great racing! Really felt like the drivers could race for position on track rather than the "race off pit road" and lots of restarts. I wish they could replicate this at most tracks. It felt like an actual race for once!
I have to say, this year’s Texas race was pretty amazing! I wasn’t expecting Austin Dillon to win the Texas race along with Tyler Reddick being behind him during the final lap of the race! That’s wall I call a Richard Childress Racing team right there! First Cole Custer won the Kentucky race and now we have Austin Dillon winning the Texas race! Who’s next, Matt Dibenedetto, Tyler Reddick? Who knows. But anyways, this year.’should Texas race is amazing! 😃👍
What happened to cassil anyway he still had a deal with the team for the year and they said they intended to honor it but haven't seen him in a car yet
"They did it with tire strategy" is a bit unfair. They both held off 2 of the most aggressive drivers in the field, one of which hasn't won a race in a very long time now.
I loved this race. You had the Blaney, Almirola battle. You had the Blaney Kyle Busch battle, you had the Hamlin Blaney Busch battle. Plus the Keselowski Hamlin Blaney Battle and the RCR cars
This race wasn’t that bad. Dillon won. Good fantasy points for me. Keselowski in top 10. I have seen people saying that this race wasn’t good. They’re wrong
First 2 stages was clean racing. super hot tho. i was there. my friend wasnt feeling good, so we left at the end of stage 2. and we miss all the action in the 3rd stage. Blaney should have won. Blaney had the car to beat today.
7:55 On this point, I disagree. In most of the 1.5 mile races, the guys who pit first always get a better advantage. I have been very frustrated with Todd Gordon because he keeps Blaney out for too long, & then the guy behind him pits first and takes the lead or closes the gap. The same thing happens to other drivers. I was happy that Gordon got smart and pitted Blaney early, but of course they just HAD to take 4 tires. That was the questionable call. They should've done 2 tires or fuel only. They had the right idea, but executed it poorly
Crazy take: Texas should lose a race to COTA, but COTA should be a shared weekend with F1 and potentially INDY, if possible. That would make for a great weekend of racing.
I just hate how cautions work during green flag pitting. Blaney, Almirola, Hamlin, and Matty D were having such a great race, but then they a caution comes out and they’re all in like 20th. Happened at Kentucky too. It’s really infuriating to watch.
Happens in Indycar to there was a race they had last year at COTA Will Power was dominating like Blaney did today and the caution came out late and everyone had made there pitstops except Power Dixon and Rossi and Colton Herta ended up winning his 1st Indycar win just part of racing everyone has been bit by it at one point or another
At first I saw bryon, Bowman, and Johnson all doing great and I thought to myself “wow Hendrick cars are having a great race today they did a great job” and I felt all proud and smart because I thought “Wow I’m gonna realized something in a race before I watch out of the groove” (I’m not the biggest fan in the world so actually noticing a pattern in the race felt good). Today was the most entertaining race in awhile they were a bunch of great battles. Also I am a Harvick fan and the second I saw them bring the tire changers out I was yelling at Rodney. and then I saw them run to the left side and I was just left crying inside
I hate to see it, but Jimmie is done. Unless he starts consistently finishing top 5-10 every week from here on out, theres no chance. It really sucks that this is his last year. Wish he would just give it one more go under more normal circumstances
