This race is the 2020’s edition of the 2008 Brickyard 400.
Dead tires
Angry drivers
Hard hits
Pit road wrecks
Hamlin gave the lead away, what else is there left to say?
Brickyard started a fire!
Teams gambled on camber. Not Goodyear’s fault this time
2008 race had way more tire failures, this race was no where near as bad.
Ross Chastain in 17th for spire is EXTREMELY impressive to me.
It’s a ganassi car when he races for spire
It wasn’t this time, it was spire equipment
Justin Haley for spire won at Daytona
There was only 27 cars that finished
JoeyLfan 22 yeah but that was a fluke spire does not provide that type of equipment and it was daytona
Kenseth: I’m gonna pass Harvick with these 10 lap newer tires
Dirty Air: *No*
Nascar: Finally whe can race i with no-
Lightning: YOU BETTER WATCH YOUR MOUTH!!!!!
Rain: Allow me to introduce myself
Watch it rain at boring Kentucky on Saturday lmao
Denny Hamlin tried to Wall Pop in real life, and it failed
He should have tried it at Phoenix
He did it in one of the I racing things
McDowell got a 7th place finish at a non restrictor plate race, his 2nd of the season. Let that sink in just a little bit.
He is a legitimately good / consistent driver. If he drove the 14 car I could see him being in the top 10 of points
He's always been a good driver just never had great equipment
On that restart, I thought Kenseth had it won
Because he had fresher tires then Harvick
Young Padawan, with this rules package at this race track, all you really need is clean air
Dirty air, dirty air
CUSTER
The fact the he wasn't able to close the gap proves what a piece of shit the package is.
hunterPRO1 S Don’t blame the package, blame the track.
I think it's time we put Goodyear on the Groovy Gauge. I give Goodyear a 0.
Anf they had no practice to test tires and car out
Fun Fact: Stenhouse has wrecked in the last three races at Indy, 2 coming on pit road
Sucks to suck lol
The pit road ones weren’t really his fault
Eric: cries in kenseth fan
Shoutout to Michael McDowell for getting his second top ten in three races
Who else wanted Matt to win more than anything else at the end?
Me
Wait which maatt
Most definitely! Not a Kenneth fan per say, but I am tired of the Harvick / Hamlin show
CNFan64 Matt Kenseth
StevenMartines I’ve been a Kenseth fan my whole life and was hoping he could finally get a Brickyard 400 win to win one of each crown jewel races
Imagine if Matt had won that race.
areasevenpro the world would've been at peace
It would have been 200 percent on groovy gave lol
Matt Kenseth drove like a champion last night.
@@HappyKarl095 Well, he is a former champion. Although, I get what you mean.
Eric would've had a heart attack
I was so hard to watch as a DiBenedetto fan to see his car wreck on the last lap
That wasnt on matt. He was to austins inside and austin just forced matt into the grass and took both of them out. Once again, austin dillon ran out of talent
As a Johnson fan I needed that
Austin's fault. He ran Matt into that grass.
As Dibenedetto fan, he clearly went for hole that wasn’t there. Plus Austin isn’t supposed to give him any room. Matt had a top ten threw away. Also being a Stenhouse fan, that was a Stenhouse level move
I agree man. That and Denny leading when having a blown tire was a gut wrencher
I think they should make Larry Mac daddy one of the main broadcasters along with Jeff and mike joy
And obviously still being the great strategy analyzer he is
I would love to see it! Not sure if Larry Mac wants to, but I love listening to him so much. He makes me want to jump up and cheer at the TV
@@davidbuwalda2226 He doesn't want to go to the tracks anymore, but with DW gone & Mike & Jeff being in studio, he's become the de facto 3rd analyst
@@DepravedCoTApologist 😭😭😭 Thanks for the info. I don't blame him. It is nice just to hear his voice at all!
Agreed!
Bubba Wallace hovering in the shadows of the playoff cut line
He could that extra sponsorship dollars are being put to good use
He’s like if shit hits the fan I’m here to take advantage baby
Better not let him see this statement he would find it racist
He’s not making the playoffs lmao
Rob Fowler how exactly?
I'm a Denny Hamlin fan and I was so upset to see what happened at the end of the race. I'm glad he's okay, and I can't complain to much with how good a season he is having
The Culture View Yeah I was crying he was so close
Dennys a douche
@@Beast21616 I didn't get to watch the race so I was checking positions and I was really happy then I checked and it was like "DNF"
It was a big oof moment
@@tysonfrank2105 I'm not really tryin to argue rn so like, okay
Tyson Frank no he’s a good person
Man I really wanted Matt to win
Something I think y’all need to hear
Daniel Suarez SHOULD be in Cup.
Here’s why:
THREE! finishes inside the top 21 and NONE!!! of them are @Daytona/Talladega. Those three finishes have come at Phoenix, Bristol, and Indy.
And as a whole Daniel has 13 of 15 finishes inside the top 30, & 12 of those 13 are inside the top 28. For a legitimate back marker like Gaunt Bros, those are decent numbers and those finishes inside the top 21 are indicative of the effort that Daniel is putting into it. When he’s getting the best that equipment has, he’s getting THE BEST it has
I’m not saying he should necessarily get another top level ride like Gibbs/SHR but a team like FRM (34) or RFR (6) or JTG-D (37), Daniel could definitely get one of those rides and be a very serviceable driver
Finishing in only the top 21 isn’t that good considering the fact that he won an Xfinity championship, and that his first two rides were for Joe Gibbs and Stewart Hass. And to be honest Cole Custer also shouldn’t be in cup. I think he still needs one more year in Xfinity because he hasn’t been that good either
It seems like if you drove a ford in xfinity, you get a slow start in cup. I think the camaros in xfinity are a lot like cup cars, because the guys who drove a xfinity camaro are doing gr8 in cup
@@ahawks4820 Finishing in the top 20 is phenomenal when you have a 35th place car.
Paul Loebach Jr. ya but not when your first rides are top tier teams
I wish Kenseth got that😔
Yeah it was a pity... Just mixed emotions about this race :/
I know, and I also hate Harvick so that kinda sucked
Flex tape fixes somethings me too :(
Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt Jr. to the 48 for the all star race would be good for ratings, I hope it happens.
Nope
That would be great. I hope Algiers again though but realistically I bet Noah Gragson.
That would be awesome
How about Boris Said?
Harvick: makes a three wide pass on the inside of turn 3 work
Hamlin a little later: Im gonna go for it
Harvick: Oh no you dont...
I would have to say this was an interesting race with lots of tires down and get well jimmie
Jimmie got lucky to not hve to go through that, kind of an awkward situation if you think about it
This is actually the First time I’ve really liked an Indianapolis race!
Good for you
When Kenseth moved up to 2nd on that final restart, I just thought- Eric is shaking in his shoes
Matt Kenneth to the 48 for a one year deal
The rookies looked great today, also p9 for bubba, only 40 points back of the playoff cutoff
Dam only 40
Crazy But 40 to make up over 10 races not hard
Kansas football Lifer ya I didn’t know he was that close still probably needs a win tho
It’s 42 to be exact
If he didn't have the mechanical issues in those back to back Charlotte races which ruined a top 15 and top 10 run respectively who knows......
Fucking RPM shitbox you never know when it is gonna break.
All I have to say for today: damn...just...damn
I feel bad for you
Eric: ...The Unpredictability of the pit road wreck
Me an intellectual: I TOTALY SAW THE WRECK COMING CMON ITS RICKY CRASHOUSE FOR PETE'S SAKE
Harvick and Hamlin are going back and forth with wins all year. They are clearly the class the of the field this year.
Daytona: Hamlin
Darlington: Harvick
Darlington: Hamlin
Atlanta: Harvick
Homestead-Miami: Hamlin

7:37 Mike Joy 2019 Daytona 500 moment
OH BIDENEDENETTO!
And everyone.
Jeff Gordon: Good Grief
He's done that a bunch a times...
"Here comes Kyle Busch with a Pusch from Bowyer in the Inside... OOOOOH DIBENIDETOOOO!!!!!!
I miss Jimmie!!!!
NASCAR: Has 5 Races In A Row Affected By Rain
NASCAR: How Is That Even Possible?
Weather: You Have No Idea Whats Possible, Darling
So the weather has that Zsa Zsa Gabor accent is that right "darling"?
Get well Jimmie, it's good to hear your not having any symptoms, we're all gonna be rooting you on! #OneFinalTime!
I like how all the comments are just “I really wanted Kenseth to win”
Watching the last 2 laps I kept thinking "Eric is jumping out of his chair and screaming at the TV for Kenseth to find just a little more speed."
If pit road is so tight... whys the speed limit so high?
Honestly no practice has really made the races way more interesting with comers and goers it’s giving a old school feel
I was really pulling for Kenseth at the end I really wanted him to win
Apparently Dennys blowout wasn't out of nowhere. Rodney had noticed that the tires coming off the #11 (their pits were next to each other) were corded at the end of the runs, and pointedly told Kevin that. He knew Denny might wind up with tire problems.
hengineer I heard that in David land’s live stream
nice echo Eric! real professional!...lol, just kidding brother! GREAT work! as usual!...you should be in the booth! you'll get there at some point! im thinking, you are on NASCAR'S radar
Fun fact: Kevin Harvick has won in 4 different Busch paint schemes this year
Eric is probably happy with Kenseth almost wining
Can someone explain why it's not okay to pit a lap before a stage completion (A Predetermined Caution) because they don't want teams to take advantage of getting track position. Yet it's okay to pit a lap before a competition caution to take advantage of a predetermined caution to get track position?
A stage's end, you're giving up points. The latter you risk nothing, and it basically won Harvick the race right there. So how is one okay and one not when both are done for the same intentional purpose of net gain?
The reason is because you can’t add fuel to the car before the competition yellow so you will have to pit before everyone else later on to refuel.
JTH it didn’t win harvick the race, Hamlins tire exploding won him the race
Harvick and Kenseth actually finished 1-2 at Indy in 2003 too
I'm curious as I'm new to the Nascar app. I've been a lifelong fan and used to use a scanner when I went to races and would listen to a few of my favorite drivers but since I can't freely watch specific drivers on TV how do you guys use the scanner on the app, like which drivers you choose to listen to?
Damn if only Kenseth won
Gibbs cars had to be running something aggressive on those front ends, all their drivers complained at some point during the race about vibrations and two of them popped the wall hard... glad to see Brad sneak away with a top five and keep himself top three in the points!
Shout out to the 12 crew guy who jumped on the roof of Blaney's car to avoid the wreck.
Bubba competing for a playoff spot? Imagine that
Almirola few years back put 43 in the playoffs. Not a big deal. But its ok. Burn down that BLM money.
Hamlin and harvicks crews are on point with their consistency. Good race. Hope the pit crew member that got smashed between cars is ok. Scary stuff their. Pit row seems like a minefield sometimes. Just one small mistake can cost you big, or someone else.
keep up the good vids bro your killin it
Denny fan here, was hoping Denny would get his 5th win this year but sadly the tire blew it
remember that cars movie when like everybody's tire was going down like Cars 2 this race is what it reminds me of lol
Didn’t their engines blow?
Allinol alt oil that was magnetic and caused the oil to boil, expand, explode
@@RC.41 I forgot, been years
10:25 The other car that crushed the pit crew member was Brendon Poole's 15 car.
This Indy Race was pretty insane.
From the chaos in pit road, to the massive wrecks, the heartbreaks, the pit strategy, the underdogs, this race was crazy. When Hamlin wrecked my heart literally dropped that was a scary wreck for him tough break for Hamlin, I really feel like Hamlin and Harvick are the drivers to beat this year, I think Chase can be a threat too. Overall I give this race a 6.5/10, pretty good race for Indy Standards.
Third. Also this was a really good race in my opinion, Matt Kenseth’s finish was really great! 2nd for the first time of hopefully many to come this season! I kinda gave up hope after Allgaier went to the garage but Kenseth changed that! Congrats to him and Harvick!
Matt Kenseth with a top 2 and McDowell with a top 10! Awesome runs for those teams! Sucks for Allgaier, Truex, Preece, Stenhouse, Buescher, Poole, and Lajoie. All taken out by pit road. Glad Blaney's crew member was ok though. The blown tires today were out of control. Jones, Bowman, Newman, Byron, Hamlin, and Blaney all blew tires. Though I did think this race was way better than some of the last couple of Brickyard 400's.
Eric, in your opinion, who has performed better, Ross Chastain or AJ Allmemdinger? Plus, how would you evaluate AJ in a full-time Kaulig ride?
haven't been back to the Brickyard since the tire debacle of 2008. How are tire problems a surprise?
Not surprised kenseth got a second
Remember him winning that stage in a roush car in 2018 at Indianapolis ?
As a Harvick fan I give it a 100% on the groovy gauge. Back to back Brickyard wins.
I actually really felt bad for Denny there. Tough break for sure. As a Chase fan, I don't think he had enough to get past Hamlin or Harvick but I haven't heard any thoughts on why he pitted twice within the last 40 laps removing him from a top 5 likely to 11th. I wonder if he was battling tire issues too.
I really liked NBC doing the SNF-styled driver introductions, looks really cool.
This wasn’t the first time they had issues with 40 cars on pit road because of a comp caution. I think they need to change it up in order to prevent this from happening. Maybe freeze the field and pit half the field at a time? It’s just frustrating to watch cars get torn up early on because of a competition caution. I get why these cautions are important with no practice time, but there has to be a better way.
Why did NASCAR start the race at 4 pm Eastern at track that doesn’t have lights. These later start times hurt us Midwestern and East Coast fans
I want to see Mike announce a xfinty series at Daytona
11:52 - 2020's Indy race was NASCAR's payback for 2017's. 2 Mega-Baddies battling for the win was NASCAR's payback for 2 very popular drivers battling for the win in the same race 3 races prior... Sad. Predictable, but sad...
Denny Hamlin: I’m going to win my first brickyard!
Goodyear: not today!
I'm not going to lie, when Denny blew a tire with 7 laps to go my heart stopped beating 💔
I think it’s important to note that these 5 consecutive top 5s are at tracks that Aric Almirola normally runs the worst at. That time is on fire right now.
Your the best nascar UA-camr. I always watch out of the groove
Oh yeah Mike Tirico is a flawless man. It's so nice he is at least interested in Motorsports. He's definitely the future of NBC if Al Michael's on Sunday Night Football decides to quit at the end of his contract year. Literally the best sports personality to come out of ESPN since Al Michael's too.
I think this was the best Brickyard in a long time, since we still have one more year with the Gen 6 car, I agree with one of the comments from an earlier video, maybe they should bring the short track package to the flat tracks like Indy, Pocono and New Hampshire.
NBC had a new fresh energy we needed yesterday. I wish on the next contract we could get more networks, I like hearing different voices. If not I would not mind seeing NBC and fox mix it up and maybe go with a few on fox then a few on NBC and keep alternating. The race despite the tire issues I thought was good for IMS standards. Would like to see NASCAR start allowing maybe allow an hour of practice to allow teams more time to get adjusted to the car before the race as I think we would see others besides the 4 and 11 start to win races
My one gripe on NBC, not a fan of how they did the starting lineup! Hope they fine-tune that part for the rest of the year
75 is too low Eric! Exciting throughout and to the end with the tire wear, pit strategy, and wrecks. Good competition between Hamlin/Harvick and then seeing Kenseth have a terrific run - I grade this a 90.
Credit to Suarez & Chastain getting Top 20s in such crappy equipment. That’s cool to see
Overall, this Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 race for the Cup Series is pretty good and epic at the same time! Especially with the one of the final laps with Kevin Harvick & Matt Kenseth. Honestly, I prefer if Kenseth got a win at Indianapolis since Harvick just wins way too much, especially in 2018. It would’ve been awesome to see Matt Kenseth win once again, but in the #42 Chevrolet along with a McDonald’s car getting a win. We haven’t had a McDonald’s car win for a very long time, the last time was back in the 90s and that was it. Hopefully one day in the future a McDonald’s car would win a race. But anyways, the race was pretty good even though there were a lot of wrecks happening during the race such as the pit stop crash, one of Blaney’s pit crew members getting injured, William Byron blowing a tire, Chris Buescher & Ryan Newman having bad luck along with some damage, Erik Jones wrecked along with his car being on fire, Ryan Blaney spinning out, Denny Hamlin blowing a tire which caused him to hit the wall and set his car on fire, and Austin Dillon & Matt Dibenedetto wrecking at the final lap of the race. Honestly, this was a wreck fest of a race when drivers have so many problems. I’m not sure if this is why people hate the Brickyard 400 or what? But overall, this race is still pretty good and epic at the same time! Can’t wait for Kentucky next Sunday along with the All Star race on the 15th of July! 😃👍🏎🏁
Can’t agree more about the commentary. If I hear Jeff Gordon talk about the flared fenders folding in and cutting down a tire, I’m gonna lose it
I sat around 8th row at the 2017 brickyard 400. It was a great experience
A chaotic Brickyard race, and another damn weather delay... Fifth week in a row... Just can't catch a break with the weather... -.-
At the end, Matt and Dillon crashed...
HE PUT EM IN THE WALL!!!
OOOOH EEE TURNED EEEM
I’m thinking, if this is such a prestige race. They should have a special package that would allow a lot of passing. Not saying that yesterday’s race was bad. I actually liked it. But more passing would be great. Not sure about the road course. They should add a second/race there if they want to go that route. Roger Penske would love that idea lol
My thing is we don’t know if the cup race on the road course at Indy would be as exciting as the xfinity race was because they are more experienced
I enjoyed this race. Not great racing, but unpredictability and craziness, and I was very entertained.
Eric commenting about the Xfinity Road Rage Penzzoil 150 @ The Brickyard: ...and h01y h311 that was an amazing race and...
LETS KEEP IT PG ERIC you said it was a "family" show
I really enjoyed the NBC broadcast but I wish they did the side ticker more
heartbreaking seeing Kenseth so close wanted him to win so bad
Harvick: Imma win the Brickyard again!
Hamlin: *pulls out the uno reverse card*
Harvick: *takes Goodyear’s uno reverse card*
Hamlin: 😐
Me: Pain.
I felt like I was gonna puke after Hamlins hit
Harvick pulled a skip card

Shoutout to Chastain and Suarez for overperforming at the Brickyard. Chastain has a lot of talent. Still not sure about Suarez though.
I feel like the race is more fun with Fox
Where was the intro song this year for NBC?
What if Nascar put taper spacers like Dega and Daytona to try and make racing more exicting? Maybe they could do it for Pocono or Michigan... I honestly think this could bring racing ratings higher and it would make the racing more exicting. Because we all know not all races are wreckfests and i think this would do Nascar good.
I miss the Hollywood Hotel...*sighs in 2005-present NASCAR fan*, also, I think Fox and NBC are equal and... I think Fox will improve with Clint Boyer.
What do you think about the no practice racing? Does this reveal anything special about the 4 and 11 teams?
I still prefer the fox broadcast because they have the side bar that allows me to see the top 15 and how close together everyone is
the race was chaotic and pretty good, but basically all of my favorites got taken out, so there wasnt much to root for in the end sadly
Why did you not bring up Rutledge Wood he did a good job at doing announcing in the race yesterday
Real simple, I didn't watch to see Rut in the creek.
Distraction from a race coverage, pre show ok, not during the race.
