Rotate All Star Race Through Local Tracks if you don't want any Fans -- IRP -- Thompson --Salem -- Lebanon Valley -- Wall Stadium ect...
They had fan voting in a fan favorite for a long time... I remember voting in Kyle Petty one year in the late 90's. The one things I remember liking was the random drawing of how many cars to invert in the field.
Drivers must not forget the lap 17.5 hop outta your car a hop on your left foot exactly 6 times then 8 times on your right prior to re-entering the car from the RIGHT side only, then drive in reverse to the pits. Failure to do so will result in a 3 lap penalty and start from P20 on the 18th, 2 lap stage.
I say have heat races and do it like the local dirt tracks. The did that with a couple of Xfinity races at Bristol and Richmond and it worked out pretty well
They should keep the format they ran below in 2021 for the All-Star Race but add eliminations like they had in 2002-03. After each of the four 15 lap segments the last place car is eliminated. Then after the 30 lap segment the last 4 cars are eliminated leaving 12-14 cars for the final 10 lap dash for the cash. All-Star Race 100 green flag laps Stage 1: 15 laps Field randomly inverted from 8th-12th. Stage 2: 15 laps Entire field inverted. Stage 3: 15 laps Field randomly inverted from 8th-12th. Stage 4: 15 laps Running order set via average finish of the first four stages. Stage 5: 30 laps, must make a green flag 4 tire pit stop. Pit Crew with the fastest time wins $100k. Stage 6: 10 laps, winner takes home $1 Million.
Kansas is the closest track to me and I really want to see a race there but it is hard to justify going to a race there. If the only cost was the ticket and at track stuff it would be worth it but I would need a hotel and all the hotels in the area jack the prices up for race weekends. It makes what could be a $50 cup race ticket quickly become $500 because of hotel costs. If you want fans to go you need to make it not just worth the ticket cost but also the cost of the whole trip. If track promoters won't do that then if NASCAR owns the track then fire the promoter and find someone who will. If NASCAR doesn't own the track give an ultimatum to do better or lose your race date.
I rarely if ever agree with everything these guys have to say, sometimes not even with most of it. But in this video I agree with every single point they all made. Two thumbs up! Let's bring the all-star race back to Charlotte every year where it belongs. We already lost one of the Charlotte races since it got transformed into the stupid "roval". It really sucks to lose another one to Texas and only have the 600 left as a Cup event on the famous Charlotte mile and a half.
The haul ass pit entry, stop and exit was the best thing about All-Star weekend! It's the Homerun Derby or Slam Dunk contest of the event. Taking that away is a horrible idea!
Where does the location matter? It should move around Bc certain driver are dominant at certain track So it should move along with the championship race
I don't know if y'all on door bumper clear would see this comment. But if you want to make the All-Star race interesting and NASCAR insists that you all travel outside of Charlotte which I really disagree with. Holding it tracks that NASCAR doesn't run anymore. Like for example Rockingham or North wilkesboro. I think that would make for some exciting racing to see who the best driver is by putting them on a track they don't run anymore and no one is familiar with. Or have it alternate tracks on the East Coast between the original NASCAR tracks but I honestly think North wilkesboro would be an awesome track to do the All-Star race at. We all know Dale Earnhardt Jr and his crew got that track freshened up and now they're racing at it so why not.
I'm 35 and considered myself a die hard race fan for most of my life. Live in race city USA. Went to races. Watched it on TV every week. The whole 9. I haven't watched a race in years. I don't even have cable anymore. Cut the cord. I watch most of hailie's videos on UA-cam and the Dale Jr podcast and others. The racing has gotten too boring. Too predictable. I don't like the playoffs. I could go on. I don't understand why they don't just try and go back to the old points system. Stop throwing competition cautions. Let them race. Let the teams figure it out. Heck Let em cheat a little! I think Nascar has gotten too safe and too many rules. Don't get me wrong I want the drivers and fans to be safe at the track but there needs to be a little more danger. I dunno maybe I'm crazy and maybe I'll never go back even if they did try some of this stuff.
Maybe if the drivers would work with the tracks to help promote the sport that would help. All the other sports have athletes to help promote the event. NASCAR doesn't have that.
Lets start running the All Star Race at old school tracks like Rockingham. Format should be like the Colosseum Race. Draw numbers, form heats, run a B, and an A main. Races should not me this complicated. Also bring back the no speed limit pit stop competitions.
Maybe I'm one of the people who understood the format first time through? I like the overall format and believe its more simple than the last few years. NASCAR could have worded it way better to ease confusion.
I think a lap by lap elimination countdown would be genius for the final or second to last stage. Maybe not exactly this the elimination style needs to be considered. Please promote this, make it happen
I think the Social Media aspect. The TV Deals. Have a HUGE impact on the Stands. The desire to be there is almost gone. Except for Diehard Ole Winston Cup Fans and their kids. Most newer fans would rather just hit the NASCAR APP. or Watch it later. At one time. Going to the Race. Was the Only way to get close to the whole thing. Going to a Race was a Big Deal! Now....Not so much.
@@johnhaas2523 I feel like that would put on a pretty decent show. Simplify the format, eliminate cars during the stages and have the best cars Duke it out at the end.
It's all about Advertising. Yeah in the early 2000s everyone was going everywhere. 70k seats was nothing to pack but now no one does advertising. Tracks and drivers need to pay for advertisement slots on TV. Not oh during the Kansas race we will show one commercial about the next race or any race. Needs to be advertisements on TV, UA-cam, Hulu or anywhere that is not a sports channel.
AGREE WITH ALL SAID and especially only should only be at CMS . . .CMS and Daytona are "home" of Nascar to average fan. . . . .but honestly EVERY OTHER ALL STAR GAME HAS GIMMICKS . . . NHL: fastest, 3on 3, how many shots goalie can stop . . hardest shot . . . .NFL: throw FB thru moving targets et al . . . NBA; slam dunk jumping over a car; most shots made in 24 secs., and an actual game with no defense and a lot of fancy shots
Yep, we all said last year the only reason they moved the, so called… all star race to what is obviously the worst track on the schedule, solely to try and save the track. I’ve followed this series since before the races were even carried on tv, and the bald faced ignorance of the leadership of this series is appalling. If you think anyone other than the tv networks are completely calling the shots…. Think again. NASCAR has essentially abandoned the fan base it already had, to go after an imaginary fan base that doesn’t exist. NASCAR has alienated more than half its fan base, by kowtowing to the tv networks, and now they are at the mercy of the tv networks, which have demoted NASCAR to their secondary channels, due to a lack of viewers. Which they helped run off. It’s all they have left. When you take a racing series and make it about everything EXCEPT racing, this is the result. Duh If you want to run a Circus, buy a freakin Elephant. If your gonna run a racing series, make it about RACING It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad… And they wonder why sponsors are getting harder and harder to get….
NASCAR needs to keep the All Star Race at Charlotte and go back to the old Winston format. The Winston was one of my favorite races back in the 90s. I also believe that The Clash needs to go back to being just for the pole winners of the previous year and not all teams. The Ware and McLeod cars should not have been part of the Clash at the Coliseum.
it isn't going to go back to Charlotte I don't think. it's at Texas because it's a speedway motorsports track and they wanted it at Texas for giving up spring date by leasing cota
I don't understand NASCAR. The point of the Gen 7 car was to save the teams money. OK, but the up front investment was costly because everything from the previous cars except the seat, steering wheel and engine is obsolete. So a great amount of money went into the new equipment and cars. Then NASCAR moves The Clash from Daytona to LA Coliseum 2400 miles away. Then the All-Star race was at Charlotte now over 1000 miles away in Texas. The cost to tow cross country is one of the most expensive parts of the weekend. As far as the All-Star race format goes; I think they go to the local bar have a few then make up the rules. What other way can you explain it?
the All-Star was in Texas last year. nascar upped the money for the clash and only the charter teams showed up. the All-Star races in Texas because Texas gave up at spring date by leasing Cota and nascar did this to make them happy
hallie is right, also look at the cost to go to a race, have any of you really looked at that???? hotels triple in price , tickets are overpriced , fuel , food lodging etc. is a disney trip now. so most true fans only go once a year close to home. 94-98 i went to every race. well to do that today lmao , camping and hot dogs , oh and pay to park and camp now too. greed and going hollywood have hurt nascar the rich are not your fans.
Reminds me of the cheapest Superbowl 56 ticket being 5,000 dollars. SB tickets were only for the rich and not the people who care about either Rams or Bengals.
Hailie is bringing older demographics too. I never watched the truck races before as I did not have a driver I wanted to follow. Since Hailie came on I have been following her hoping to see a women break into the men’s club. She is the fresh face Nascar needs. Even the top level does not have a driver that I want to follow.
I say move it back to Charlotte. For main race itself. 30 (then invert) 30 then they can come in make adjustments to get those cars perfect for the last ten. Then 10 laps bring the car or steering wheel home. How Humpy Wheeler would’ve done it. Especially with this new car and the current intermediate package going by The Vegas and Kansas it’ll work. Simple how Humpy Wheeler did it when they brought lights to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Format was perfect then 2007 happened.
Let’s be honest…this is NASCAR trying to create 3 heat races while having to include every car in all of them. Then, they’re handcuffed. The end has always been “the feature.” They need the time those 50 laps take to benefit their TV partners at the end of the telecast. They also had to go to Texas for this. Per usual, the venues they’ve invested in are failing to provide good racing so they have to manufacture it. Changing the car will never fix that. That track is gonna be boring as hell if it goes green all 50 & that’s definitely possible. Texas is great. The track isn’t dramatic enough for the TV audience I guess.
SPOT ON for everything y’all just said. This is, by far, the worst All-Star format they’ve ever had. Hell, even a straight-up single segment 50 lap race would be better than this. All they should be having it at Bowman Grey stadium.
But I agree with the fact I encouraged people to go to the all star race for the same reasons mentioned then they gimmicked it so hard I dont want to send them anymore I'd rather make them watch a crown jewel
NASCAR used comp cautions and Stage cautions strictly for T.V. time outs . As a life long fan I am over it. I tume in for the start then tune out until stage 3. I do not want to watch more commericals than actual racing Or they show 6 whole green flag laps then go side by side and we totally miss real action on track. It sucks. Start the race and quit tossing in T.V. timeouts . F1 runs 2 hours with put a single commerical. We never miss any action. But in NASCAR I miss more than I see. 10 laps to go for gods sake 100% of those 10 laps need to be uninterrupted .
They are making the same mistake the IROC series made. They have small field low lap races at big tracks where passing is hard and usually requires a draft partner. Then they wonder why it is boring.
NASCAR owns the tracks now...the investment needs to be geared to taking care of the fan first...per Bill France Jr...if the core stakeholder aka individual fan is taken care the rest will fall into place. Driver connectivity is crucial. Technology infusion is key. F1 is sexy and flash and hi-tech. Their drivers all promote a platform to drive awareness to themselves and the sport. The drama of 150+ million dollar budgets creates intrigue and curiosity. I also think, NASCAR should place a mega team operation in key population / commercial markets across the country. Chicago, LA, Miami, Austin, Seattle, Phoenix etc. Develop local / regional affiliations / partnerships with those teams that create year round exposure to the sport and home town favorites when the series comes to their community. For example - Moreno (Angles baseball team owner) / Gordon Motorsports in LA / OC...build a 100,000 square foot shop on the 405 or 10 freeway that becomes an attraction. Circus like, a real race operation but also promote the series. When the series comes to Fontana you have a hometown team to support - a reason to support. Next - lets utilize all the tilt up indoor karting centers to create a true NASCAR little league. All of the K1's and Pole Positions karting centers have dead time that could be used for a little league format. Cost effective registration of $250-$300 dollars...6-10 week season...ages 6-12...teach safety and how to get around an oval. Next, create a market for cities to host and want an all-star race. Once a market is committed / designated NASCAR goes in a year in advance and begin promoting the event locally...host mini races - invest in the local community. Just some thoughts...also...less and less kids are getting their driver's license annually...You guys do a great job.
NASCAR is trying to bring in a demographic that will never buy in to racing. And they're alienating their core fan base in the process. They need to listen to their current fans, not trying to reach the unreachable. This is why NASCAR is dying.
I like the idea of eliminating cars after stages. And not just the all star race. EVERY race and the PLAYOFFS. Expand the playoffs but have drivers compete directly with one another. Eliminate drivers as the playoffs go on. Have head to head racing for who finishes better. Are the Cowboys still playing when the Super Bowl is going on?
So we need to go to a track that is not in the points racing. Let’s go to a track like Rockingham do elimination & let’s limit it. Champions; Pole winners; Race Winners; Top 8 from last 3 years. Also yes to bring back the pit competition.
It made sense because it was like a homecoming for all the teams since a majority of the race shops are located there. It also had the added bonus of adding some hype for the 600.
If I spend a couple hundred bucks to take my small family to the track, it needs to be a better option than say going to Six Flags. Money is tight (for most Nascar fans) and I may get a trip once a year. As of now, Nascar is not it!
The reason people quit going to races in person is because people are tired of getting gouged at the track. Third parties purchase the tickets and charge fans 10x the face value. Then you get charged to park. Then it cost an arm and a leg to rent scanners. Then you have to give the track your first born child for a burger and a coke. It cant be family friendly if it is not affordable by the average family. Big money is what is ruining NASCAR.
What's so hard to understand about this format? If NASCAR didn't have to force drivers to compete after they've 75% secured their starting position then they wouldn't have to add more rules to basic formats.
Also, I understand that Hailey D. has a much shorter attention span than most people (as she said in her own words), but most of you should understand this basic information about this new format.
Brian has nothing to do with it. I don't know if NASCAR comes up with the idea or speedway Motorsports. if his nasters idea I would say Ben kennedy had lot to do with it

Rotate All Star Race Through Local Tracks if you don't want any Fans -- IRP -- Thompson --Salem -- Lebanon Valley -- Wall Stadium ect...
I think I only seen one or two commercials for the Atlanta race and was the same week as the race
How y’all feel about the all star race, is how I feel about the entire cup series.
They had fan voting in a fan favorite for a long time... I remember voting in Kyle Petty one year in the late 90's.
The one things I remember liking was the random drawing of how many cars to invert in the field.
I love these guys. No BS, and they call it like it is.
All-Star Race 100 green flag laps
Stage 1: 15 laps
Field randomly inverted from 8th-12th.
Stage 2: 15 laps
Entire field inverted.
Stage 3: 15 laps
Field randomly inverted from 8th-12th.
Stage 4: 15 laps
Running order set via average finish of
the first four stages.
Stage 5: 30 laps, must make a green flag 4 tire
pit stop. Pit Crew with the fastest time
wins $100k.
I never bothered learning the format since it changes every year
The haul ass pit entry, stop and exit was the best thing about All-Star weekend! It's the Homerun Derby or Slam Dunk contest of the event. Taking that away is a horrible idea!
Where does the location matter? It should move around
Bc certain driver are dominant at certain track
So it should move along with the championship race
I've heard on numerous radio shows that NASCAR has made it plain and clear to tracks that if they want a race, they need to get ppl in the seats.
Take the all star race to local short tracks where it's special and make tickets hard to get. That'll make it special.
33 year Nascar fan, never rallied for a Ford driver until HD jumped in a truck.Go Hailie!
People relax…. Its a non-points exhibition race…. They can tweak any rules they want….. it could be much worse
Welllll tonight was much worse lol
What are they thinking
Lets start running the All Star Race at old school tracks like Rockingham. Format should be like the Colosseum Race. Draw numbers, form heats, run a B, and an A main. Races should not me this complicated. Also bring back the no speed limit pit stop competitions.
Why cant they leave things alone like it was before things got changed up. Like keep the All-Star race at Charlotte like it use to be.
Maybe I'm one of the people who understood the format first time through? I like the overall format and believe its more simple than the last few years. NASCAR could have worded it way better to ease confusion.
I think the trickle 99 for octoberfest would be the perfect format for the all star race
I think a lap by lap elimination countdown would be genius for the final or second to last stage. Maybe not exactly this the elimination style needs to be considered. Please promote this, make it happen
So there are 5 25 lap stages then
I think the Social Media aspect.
It should be in the "home town" of NASCAR 100% !
Yeaa I’m just lookin forward to the truck and xfinity race
Shoulda went to the Nashville fairgrounds!
they can't yet. maybe in the future if the deal between the city and fair board and SMI gets approved and the speedway gets updated
Duh
If you want to run a Circus, buy a freakin Elephant.
If your gonna run a racing series, make it about RACING
It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so sad…
And they wonder why sponsors are getting harder and harder to get….
Best pit stops start P4, so 23XI is done for and that's the only thing I got from this
I don't understand NASCAR.
Spot on for everything here.
hallie is right, also look at the cost to go to a race, have any of you really looked at that????
hotels triple in price , tickets are overpriced , fuel , food lodging etc. is a disney trip now. so most true fans only go once a year close to home.
Need to bring it back to Charlotte NC
Kenny Wallace hit nail on head people are staying home watching racing by reg TV And Streaming them
Hailie is bringing older demographics too. I never watched the truck races before as I did not have a driver I wanted to follow. Since Hailie came on I have been following her hoping to see a women break into the men’s club. She is the fresh face Nascar needs. Even the top level does not have a driver that I want to follow.
Don't lie, you wack your bag thinking of her
I say move it back to Charlotte.
Nascar: take us seriously!!!
Also nascar:
The best idea for the all-star race is not to have one
It’s time for Junior to become the president of NASCAR. Until then, I’ll watch reruns of old races.
But I agree with the fact I encouraged people to go to the all star race for the same reasons mentioned then they gimmicked it so hard I dont want to send them anymore I'd rather make them watch a crown jewel
I lost you at the bakery 🤓😳
NASCAR used comp cautions and Stage cautions strictly for T.V. time outs .
As a life long fan I am over it.
I tume in for the start then tune out until stage 3.
I do not want to watch more commericals than actual racing
Or they show 6 whole green flag laps then go side by side and we totally miss real action on track.
I don't understand how NASCAR can be able to change the rules of the sport, and they believe that there helping the popularity of the sport.
Need a small track LIKE IRP.
Just some thoughts...also...less and less kids are getting their driver's license annually...You guys do a great job.
nascar doesn't own all the tracks
NASCAR is trying to bring in a demographic that will never buy in to racing. And they're alienating their core fan base in the process. They need to listen to their current fans, not trying to reach the unreachable. This is why NASCAR is dying.
All Star race rules make my head hurt🤕! I’ll let Mike Joy n nem tell me what’s happening next!
Ummmm, the Bristol All-Star Race was lackluster. And I’m a Chase fan, so I was excited he won but the action was lacking.
Also yes to bring back the pit competition.
they're never going to go to a track it's not on the schedule
@@johnhaas2523 That’s my point. Go to a track that not on a schedule points race.
I am from old school bring it back to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Go back like it was back in the 90s.
It made sense because it was like a homecoming for all the teams since a majority of the race shops are located there. It also had the added bonus of adding some hype for the 600.
Go back to the format from 1992. With Davey Allison and Kyle petty on the last lap. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
I didn't find it confusing at all, took me about 5 minutes to read through it and seemed fine to me...
Same here, I guess reading comprehension isn't for everyone.
@@jonell82 part of it I think is just people are lazy, they will try reading it once and then get frustrated and just claim that it's too confusing.
If I spend a couple hundred bucks to take my small family to the track, it needs to be a better option than say going to Six Flags. Money is tight (for most Nascar fans) and I may get a trip once a year. As of now, Nascar is not it!
Freddie with NYR hat!!
Get out of here! Lmao 🤣 GO Canes!
The stands won't be filled in Kansas or anywhere else until gas isn't $4.20 a gallon......
Dude seriously wore a Rangers hat the week the series against the Canes started? 😳😳
Hallie has the most ANNOYING laugh in the world. Dear lord
Chase gotta lock that girl down. I wish I could find someone like her.
Wait what? Is 1 of the Chase's dating Hallie
Have they let little France back in and he's the one setting this up?
Brian has nothing to do with it. I don't know if NASCAR comes up with the idea or speedway Motorsports. if his nasters idea I would say Ben kennedy had lot to do with it
Not really that difficult to understand…
Wether it’s good or not that’s a different conversation but cmon it’s not that hard to understand
Only NASCAR can take the simplest form of competition, a race, and turn it into a cobbled up mess
