Don't cut down the RWBY reactions!!! Rooster Teeth allows reaction videos unedited so there is no need to fear copyrights.
They most likely cut it because they just didn't have any sort of reaction to 'Mr. Bowler Hat' (To avoid spoilers *Shrug*) running away and up the ladder
They named him in this episode though, so calling him Roman Torchwick isn't a spoiler.
Well, except for the fact that RWBY's intros usually hit the content i.d. system, there's nothing to worry about, and roosterteeth will drop the claims when they know it's for stuff like reactions.
I'll never understand that mentality. If it was to conserve episode lengths or something due to long content then i would understand but cutting things just to avoid the parts where they don't really talk doesn't really make any sense to me as that's part of the reactions as well.
I usually just drop reactors that do that kind of thing since it's one of my peeves. It's kinda disconcerting and annoying watching video's jumping ahead randomly.
RiazGT Personally, I just feel like not cutting those bits out would save lots of time editing. We'd all gladly watch the entire episode with them regardless of them reacting very little or not.

The good thing about RWBY is that it builds over time. It starts off OK and it evolves into this amazing series that just blindsides you at some point.
You grow to love the characters and finding character inspirations is really great.

Just to let you know, there is no need to edit the episodes. You can us the entirety of the video similar to what you do with DBZ Abridged. Rooster Teeth have no problem with you using the whole video. I think you should watch 2 episodes per video at least for the first seaaon. Most are very short and 2 parters.

You got it right my dude. The intro scene was voiced by Cortana. Rooster Teeth, who created Red Vs Blue (Halo based show, using the game to create their webseries). They have connections to Bungie and 343. So it was pretty cool they got Jen Taylor to voice as the Narrator.
Also to Note: Monty created the Dead Fantasy series, Halo vs Metroid video, the Rvb animator from season 8 to 10. And RWBY. I think there is more, but that's the stuff he's mainly known for.

Probably should let you guys know: Volume 1 has quite a few shorter episodes after episode 1 that are split into 2 parts (and labelled as such). A bunch of other reactors have taken to doing double episodes on those*. It might be a good idea, unless you want to upload a reaction to a three-minute episode. After Volume 1, the number of abnormally short episodes tapers off**.
* Something like 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15, 16.
** The only short ones I can think of off the top of my head are Episodes 3 and 4 in Volume 2, but I'm not sure if it's because of their length or just because the plot just has momentum to keep moving for two episodes.

In the DVD, the 2 parters are joined into one episode (or so I've heard), so no need to worry about that. xD
Lymarie Guzmán Pérez You are correct. According to my BluRay copy, there are only 10 episodes in Volume 1. All the two-parters were combined into single episodes.
On the disc, they also combined the entire volume into a single, feature-length movie, but that would be a little excessive for react videos (though it is definitely the best way to watch it).

Dust is a natural occurring energy source. It is used to power everything in remanent, from their ships to their weapons. Dust also allows hunters/hunteress' to wield the elements (fire, earth, wind, ice, lightning and many combinations of the five) as a kind of "spell", kind of like materia(sp?) from final fantasy 7
Also every character in the show is based on a fairytale/mythological character
Glynda Goodwitch is base on Glinda the good witch from wizard of oz
And professor Ozpin is based on the wizard of oz
5 things to know...
1) there is an end credits scene at the end of the last chapter of each volume
2) there is this info series called the world of remnant, there are 4 for volume 2 and 4 for volume 3 plz check those out
3) volume 1 has 2 part episodes which are short so you may want to combine them if into one episode for a reaction, your call
4) most if not all of the characters are based off of some sort of fairytale, myth, etc, and all the characters' names have to do something with color
5) the songs from the show tell stories about the characters so maybe you guys could do a song analysis video at some point (red like roses part 2 is my favorite example)

LOL I started watching this a couple weeks back because I saw you guys get it in the mailbag, didn't know anything about the show, didn't even really think it would be a type of show I'd be interested in.....ended up getting completely caught up in a couple days lol. It's great.
I will give you guys a fair warning: Volume 1 can be really slow compared to the rest of the series. It had a very small budget, and was essentially Monty's project with a lot of help from friends. Now, it has vastly improved, in almost every aspect (writing, animation, etc.). The next three chapters might be tough to get through, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the series when you get into the meat and potatoes of it.
To answer the question near the end: yes, Monty Oum animated the "Dead Fantasy" series of fight videos featuring character from "Dead or Alive", "Final Fantasy", and "Kingdom Hearts". That was the inspiration for RWBY and Monty's real entrance onto the animation scene.
Blind Wave guys, I VERY STRONGLY advise that you turn off comments. The community for this series is insanely cool, but they WILL spoil things. They're even worse than DC fans that way.
The game is Steam-exclusive. The manga is Japan-exclusive.
The community will also chew on you for not releasing these unabridged. Other reactors have run into this. You've also clipped some things that will be raised in later episodes.

I just got into this franchise recently myself, and I see now why the passing of Monty Oum was a sad, sad day. He really was talented.
Ruby is red riding hood, Whise is Snow White, Blake is Beauty and the beast(?) Yang is Goldie locks, Glenda good witch and professor Osmond is wizard of Oz, One of the things that you need to look for is how a lot of the characters are based off of literature and this is done on purpose

Yup, fun fact the only major difference between RWBY and german's pronunciation of "Weiss Schnee" is the W (as it would be pronounced Vice Shnee in german)

You literally could Do Volume 1 in 2 weeks MAX. The episodes are short and considering you did multiple Overwatch Videos in a day. Almost No Excuse

R3aL J I saw, but they were saying weeks when it could easily be done in a day, the way I think they should do it is they should bulk watch it so they don't get spoiled, then just casually upload but they'll need to join chapters together for the first Volume
I just finished volume 9 of rwby and now watching all of your reactions to it!
Dust is like Physical Magic. They can use it for anything from ammo for their weapons or sue it into their clothes like the one 'Fire Lady' from the big fight scene. Most of them are elemental I believe like Fire, Ice, Lightning, and etc, however there are also the odd ones like Gravity

Yay! I am definitively hyped to see you're take on the series. The show starts a bit slow and very comedic, but gets better and darker.
Finally I can watch this reaction series! I feel super late with getting into RWBY (currently working my way through Volume 1), but at least BW was also pretty late, and on the positive side of things, I have a completely new Blind Wave reaction series to watch. Can't wait to get caught up - both with the show and with the reactions.

Some of the things Monty made before joining Rooster Teeth were Dead Fantasy (Dead or Alive combined with Final Fantasy) and Haloid (Halo combined with Metroid).

Also many of the episodes in volume one are really short and split into two. For example episode 2 is called 'The Shining Beacon' while episode 3 is 'The Shining Beacon Part 2' so you may want to watch some episodes in batches.

im so happy you are finally reacting to this series. but three things. First, Dont skip over parts of the episode. rooster teeth heavily encourages reactions, you will not be flagged for copyright. Second, dont talk over dialog. Many reactors miss important details because they are talking or looking away from the screen. Major plot points can happen pretty fast in this series. I have watched many reactors talk over a small detail, then get confused later on in the episode when something about the detail comes up. And third, Most episodes of this series are pretty short. You can fit two episodes into one reaction video.

Dead fantasy was his pet project for forever, haloid got him noticed by RoosterTeeth, a few seasons of Red vs Blue later they gave him to go ahead to start with the trailers, it was a small team for the trailers and then a much larger group for the main show that grew every year, and now the crew is continuing the show in his memory.

Monty was the main Director on RVB for a few of the later seasons and he was an animator for the seasons prior.

Most characters have a thing called Semblance which is basically fueled by Aura (you'll learn that soon) and each have their own special semblance. Rubys is Speed, Weiss has Glyphs, Blake can make Shadow Clones, and yangs can take damage and deal it back, making her a super strong fighter.
The fact that you're starting this makes me incredibly happy :)

Monty still worked on RvB and was a Rooster Teeth employee until he passed, but after a few seasons of RvB he wanted to do his own story and idea and after a while they said yes and that's what RWBY was
Some episodes are really short so you guys might wanna do 2 eps per week just so that you have something substantial to react to. Really happy to see you guys doing this btw :)
Noticed that before they use the door to to go after Ruby. they literally go around the patch of wall to the door even though they’re all standing in front of the broken window
Yes Monty was the creator of Dead Fantasy and worked on the Red Vs Blue Season 9+ for the fight sequences.
I started screaming when I saw this in my subscription box. xD This is great! I'm sure Eric will absolutely love the fight choreographies~
Just to clarify Monty's work with Roosterteeth. Monty joined Roosterteeth to work on RvB season 8. He continued working on RvB as the show continued, and he suggested the RWBY series to Burnie Burns after a while. Monty died while working on the first episode of season 3, and between seasons 10 and 11 of RvB.

I found all the villains great, expect season 2. But season 2 was pretty underwhelming in every way.

Yeah Roosterteeth still makes RvB, it's in season 14 right now (with season 14 they're using a bunch of different animation designs, in the latest they did a borderland style cel shading). In season 8, when Monty came on board, they started animating it.

Love that you`re doing RWBY now. RT is as you mentioned really cool with reactions the only thing that seems to give problems to some(not many) reactors is the opening though. I personally don`t care if you cut scenes out, i mean it`s your channel and your choice, but i think most of the fans would like it, if you show the whole episode, especially with many episodes in Volume 1 being made into 2 parts (2+3, 4+5, 6+7, 9+10, 11+12, 13+14) which i hope you do at least these 2 episodes in one sitting and being very short (4-6 mins).

@@bmgsimms264 except RoosterTeeth are fine with reactions to RWBY so clipping isn't needed at all. Just check all the several other reactions to RWBY and you'll see it's true.

Volume 1 is definitely the setting up volume, obviously, and it only gets better from there especially in volume 3. BTW I think the only time I've seen copyright issues with episodes recently is with the last episode in vol. 3 (probably b/c of ending credit music)
Finally, I've been waiting for this! By the way, if an episode is a two parter, I would recommend watching them in one video, as they are much shorter
Also, Calvin should watch the trailers as they are canon and referenced in the show

RWBY is great but it does have a slow start by which i mean the plot isnt really evident until season 3. If you guys enjoy the first 2 seasons then you will be in love with it by the end of season 3.

Something I will say in case it bothered you (as it somewhat did for me back when this first came out) is that the animation isn't always the greatest outside the fights (which are always epic), but with each season, it progressively continues to improve. The latest season (three) is a massive improvement to the noncombat animation when compared to season one. Also, yes, Monty did Dead Fantasy, that Final Fantasy animation you were talking about, which is a series about Final Fantasy characters fighting Dead or Alive characters.
