Yep. She was only 12 when she sang the song for the Red Trailer. The series wasn't picked up until after she'd turned 14. The musician/composer for the series is her dad and her mom sings the Part 2 of Red Like Roses (Part 1 was the music for the Red trailer) Going into it's 9th season (Volume) she's still the singer for the series. You get to listen to her voice mature throughout the series.
SUGGESTION: Seasons 1&2 episodes are very short so maybe for the first 2 seasons you can try to react to two chapters per video. CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR REACTIONS.

Hopefully I'm not wrong about this, but years ago I remember Volumes 1-3 being on Netflix, but each volume was edited together, essentially you'd be watching three movies instead of three seasons. I think this was back before Volume 4 came out. I could be misremebering this entirely though. Lol

Also, if no one has mentioned this before, every major (and more than a few minor) character is based off of or inspired by a myth, legend, fairy tale, historical figure, etc. have fun trying to figure out who those are, and to start, I’ll give you a hint. Glynda Goodwitch. It’s in her name. Another thing to note is the music. Music is very, very important and can give you insight to a lot of different characters in RWBY, as apart from the openings, they are pretty much always from one character or another’s perspective. I highly recommend listening to the soundtrack of each volume after you’ve finished each volume. Oh, and one last thing, fairy tales are important. Wether it’s who a character is based off of or a fairy tale that exists in the world of Remnant, it’s important. There’s actually one coming up, briefly mentioned by a character reading a book. So uh. Yeah. Keep that in the back of your head for theorizing about what’s to come. Not really a whole lot else to say, other than I’m so excited to have you here with us on the journey that is RWBY. Strap in. It’s quite a ride. 'This is the day we waited for'. And it came a little faster than I thought it would, thought we would be waiting for your RWBY reactions for a while considering all the other stuff you had going on. Just a heads up if you don't know already episodes 2&3, 4&5, 6&7, 9&10, 11&12, 13&14 are episodes that was cut in two and should be watched together or basically any episode that has a part 2 in it should be watched together with the one before it. It was released this way cuz there was a very small staff with not a lot of money working on it and it was taking too long to develop with little show, so Monty started cutting certain episodes in half when finished and started releasing them that way so they wouldn't have long gaps between uploads, Vol 1 is the only one that does this. Cuz they started getting into the groove and having more people help on for next volumes. So there's actually 10 chapters in Vol 1 not 16.
Oh also I'm pretty sure a lot of people mention this on the trailer reactions but you don't have to edit the footage for RWBY. ROOSTER TEETH really chill about people reacting to their stuff. If it gets taken down it's usually a bot or something like that and getting in contact with RT you can usually get the reaction back up
I was hoping you guys would watch this after your trailers reaction. Looking forward to seeing you guys go through this rollercoaster of a show! Fun fact, the characters are based on real world stories: Ruby = Red Riding Hood, Weiss = Snow White, Blake = Beauty and the Beast, Yang = Goldilocks. This applies to literally everyone in the show. Most characters associated with Professor Ozpin are loosely based on the Wizard of Oz... Glenda Goodwitch and Ozpin himself for example. It's in their names lol. Try and figure them out as you watch! It's always cool to see people start RWBY, really looking forward to seeing these reactions from you guys. The characters might start as archetypes, but they definitely develop over time really well (especially a certain Ice Queen). It's such a great series.
Happy to see you reacting to this. I love RWBY. I like how you said you got a Grimm Fairy Tales vibe from this since a lot of the characters are inspired by fairy tales. I mean, Ruby’s inspiration is very obvious.
I’m so excited to see your reactions. A few things to note The quality of the volume jumps each season, from the shorter episodes in season one, to the kind of quality you would expect from a major animation company in season eight. Each of the characters are loosely based on a fairytale, and all of their names have some kind of color connection (the color thing is actually built into the world building, which is cool) There are world of remnant episodes which go over some of the world building, like what the average bald citizen knows about dust, Grimm, etc. It’s not necessary but lots of people find it interesting. There is also RWBY chibi which you would have to wait till after Vol 3 to see to avoid spoilers. It’s basically short and fun skits they wrote. It’s utterly brilliant and I highly recommend it. All of the music is semi canon and written for the characters. It’s music so metaphor and such apply, but there is a connection.
YEEEEEEEES, I am so happy you two are reacting to RWBY. I'll try to offer as much non-spoiler information throughout the series because there is plenty of things that can go over your head the first time you watch RWBY. Firstly, animation and graphics will get better with each season. Now on a very important note, all of the significant characters are based off of fairytales, mythology, folk lore, and some historical figures; we saw that the huntress that came to save Ruby is named Glynda Goodwitch, which is very obviously based off of Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz and the musical Wicked (I'll go over what the main cast is inspired by once they're all introduced). Also, it's fun to try and guess the fairytale/etc. that a character is based on (a tip for this is, most notably, the character's name often gives away what they were based off of, but sometimes they don't follow that pattern or they have 2 stories they're based on and you'll have to think about the character's personality and design, and watch for their mannerisms for the other story). So in this world, named Remnant, the people of each major kingdom, AKA city, established a school to train warriors who would go on to fight back the creatures of Grimm and protect people from any nefarious evil-doers; but before students may enroll at these academies they must first graduate from a training school, which Ruby was still in before she was moved ahead. The training schools are comparable to our high schools and the huntsman academies are like colleges. Graduating from a huntsman academy will grant the graduate a huntsman license and the title of huntsman/huntress. That'll be all for this episode, can't wait for more!

Nice to see you guys are watching RWBY, I'm a former fan of the show and watching the older episodes is nice. I remember one of you saying that one guy(name is Roman Torchwick btw) looked like the guy from A Clockwork Orange, that's what the series creator, the late Monty Oum, did, he made all the characters based off fictional characters, Ruby is based off Little Red Riding Hood, her sister, Yang Xiaolong, Goldilocks, Glynda and Ozpin, Wizard of Oz, you'll meet more. I'll watch this with you guys
Stoked to watch along with you two! The show is really, really good, imo. There's going to be a lot to get through, and some early episodes might be really short, so it might be cool to do a double parter sometimes, but you guys know how to do your thing, ignore me lol.
This is an amazing show, I'm so glad you decided to react to it! You've probably already been told, but the chapters in Volumes 1 & 2 are very short, it might be best to do multiple chapters in one video, but that's up to you guys. There are also some side series' to RWBY too, there's World of Remnant which explains things in the world (of Remnant) which is usually watched around volume 2/3, and RWBY Chibi, which is a comedy series, the first series of which you should only watch after Volume 3. Also PLEASE do the soundtracks, Jeff & Casey (who do the music) are amazing and pretty much all of the songs they do are astounding. They also give you an insight into characters/scenarios that you probably won't see in the show. Anyways, loved this! I always love to see more RWBY reactors joining the fandom, SOO can't wait to see more from you two!

Welcome to RWBY!!! Every major character is based off a fairy tale, characters from mythology or historical figures. For example, Ruby is Little Red Riding Hood, Weiss is Snow White, Blake is Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Yang is Goldilocks.
After each volume, you should listen to the soundtrack for that volume with the lyrics since all the songs are pretty good and story relevant giving a deeper understanding of the characters and what they're feeling and their past hardships, Weiss's (white) songs are especially good. There are channels on youtube that upload good lyric videos such as FlyntofRWBY, though he stopped making them a few years ago and is missing some of the songs from earlier volumes, his are still probably the best since he also got the lyrics directly from the song writer instead of guessing them just from listening.
RWBY is definitely one of those shows that gets better the further in you go. You can actually see the animation quality go up by leaps and bounds every season. Season one was just a small team and it looks great for what they accomplished with such a small budget. As you've probably guessed by now, pretty much every character in this show is based (either loosely or not-so-loosely) on a character from a fairy tale or other story, some aren't even subtle about how their names directly reference their own inspiration. Ruby's parallels with Red Riding Hood are pretty obvious, but its a fun game to try and figure out who's based on what.
OMG, YES! this is such a great anime. It is slow compared to other official anime, but that give it time to pull you into the story. Allows the story to explain what is going, and have fun in doing it. It does pick up, and get a more full adventure.
Interesting fact, the map of Remnant was created by accident, the world map of RWBY was created by Monty Oum in 2012. It was based on ketchup smears made on a napkin he was using while at IHOP. Monty also stated that he textured the World Map by taking different pictures of food. The different foods he used included mashed potatoes, steaks, ice cream, bread, corn, cereal, ramen, shrimp, tacos, pizza, lettuce and possibly bacon.
Honestly this is a really great show and I definitely recommend watching all the way through. Though, with the exception of longer vids (some get upwards to about 15+ minutes long, so if you're wanting to keep the reaction vids shortish, then one at a time for those) I recommend watching 2 at a time, because some of them really tie into one another. This is one of those shows that starts out pretty light but really hits the story hard. And yes, there are a *lot* of references to be found from myths, legends, and folklore to fairy tales and magical creatures. Also, this series has a lot of voices from the well known and loved series Red vs Blue, so if you ever chance a glance at that, you might hear some familiar voices!
Spot on with the clockwork orange thing. Someone probably already mentioned it when you watched the trailers but just in case; Every character design is based on something . Usually another character or person but it can be as simple as food or a meme.
A Clockwork Orange was a massive inspiration for Roman Torchwick. Most RWBY characters have a character from another story (usually a fairy tale) that served as their main inspiration.
Monty Ohm, the guy who wrote and directed the first couple seasons of RWBY, was a choreographer, so a lot of the fight scenes are going to look like dances.
The first season has a lot of 2 part episodes. The usually guide people use to react to the first season is as follows: Ep 1 + intro Ep 2 + 3 Ep 4 + 5 Ep 6 + 7 Ep 8 Ep 9 + 10 Ep 11 + 12 Ep 13 + 14 Ep 15 + 16 Some react to ep 15 and 16 seperately. Also a lot of reactors react with the closed caption on. RWBY can be watched 2 ways. At its face value or play mystery theater with it. There are a lot of clues in the show (in scenes, dialogue, music, etc) as to whom people are based on (myths, legends, other shows, etc) what is going on around the characters (sometimes off camera) and foreshadowing.
*INTRODUCING* - Roman Torchwick (Lampwick) - Glynda Goodwitch (Glinda, the Good Witch of the South) - Professor Ozpin (The Wizard of Oz) *WEAPONS* - Roman's Melodic Cudgel (cane + grappling hook + flare gun) - Glynda's The Disciplinarian (riding crop + Dust "wand") *TERMS* - Dust: Crystals that harness elements like fire and wind. A lot of weapons use Dust as ammunition or other such augmentations. - Huntsmen & Huntresses: Warriors trained to protect the world from threats like the Grimm. People are trained in at least two specialized academies to become Huntsmen and Huntresses.

Did you recognize the voice of the narrator at the beginning of the episode? It's Jen Taylor, who is the voice actor for Cortana in the Halo video game series. Each season ("volume" in RWBY-speak) of RWBY has a new theme song, but the first episode ("chapter") is always a cold start, where the theme doesn't play until the end of the episode. From then on, the theme will play at the beginning of each episode in the season.
The Grim’s Fairy Tails thing you pointed out is very much on purpose. Many of the major characters throughout the show are based on characters from fairy tails, myths, legends, and fantasy. Such as Ruby with Little Red Riding Hood and Yang with Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

rwby is and still is one of my altime favorite series i started it years ago i think around the time they were on volume 3 or 4 i dont remember to well i just know i loved it for a while now and when you said it was a mix of grims fairy tales and harry potter your right cause the grims fairytales where a HUGE inspiration in the creators writing of the show (rip) as well as kingdom hearts and alot of other inspirations but none the less i hope you enjoy the series because it is special in my heart loved your reaction ❤
Torchwick is actually inspired by clockwork orange , just as rwby are inspired by fairytale every character has some sort of tale or legend inspiration some more obvious than others

Roman is a reference to the Clockwork Orange. Most if not all of the characters are based on fairy tales, fables, or other old stories or people. Some are obvious, like Ruby being "Little Red Riding Hood" while others are more thought intensive.
This is my favorite anime ever! So glad you’re reacting to it. As you may or may not have noticed the background characters are just silhouettes in the early seasons due to budget cuts and not having a lot of staff, but with it getting a lot of popularity, them hiring more staff, and having a higher budget, they made production a lot better. I also will admit with Monty’s passing the fighting sequences do lack that certain touch Monty had in them when he was alive, but that doesn’t mean that they are terrible now. If you continue watching this you’ll see what I mean.

The first seasons episodes are quite short. but the get to a normal lengh as the series goes on. Love seeing some RWBY reactions, it deserves to be more well known than it is.
Apparently they were going to fill this show with a lot of pop culture references, for example right after the prologue you can see the Fourth Doctor’s scarf hanging from a clothes line and of course there’s Truth from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood on the back of one of the magazines, but this was the only episode in which they did that. Also all the characters are based on fairytales, literature, or historical figures.

It's always cool to see people start RWBY, really looking forward to seeing these reactions from you guys. The characters might start as archetypes, but they definitely develop over time really well (especially a certain Ice Queen). It's such a great series.

Happy to see you reacting to this. I love RWBY. I like how you said you got a Grimm Fairy Tales vibe from this since a lot of the characters are inspired by fairy tales. I mean, Ruby’s inspiration is very obvious.
I’m so excited to see your reactions. A few things to note
The quality of the volume jumps each season, from the shorter episodes in season one, to the kind of quality you would expect from a major animation company in season eight.
Each of the characters are loosely based on a fairytale, and all of their names have some kind of color connection (the color thing is actually built into the world building, which is cool)
There are world of remnant episodes which go over some of the world building, like what the average bald citizen knows about dust, Grimm, etc. It’s not necessary but lots of people find it interesting.
There is also RWBY chibi which you would have to wait till after Vol 3 to see to avoid spoilers. It’s basically short and fun skits they wrote. It’s utterly brilliant and I highly recommend it.
All of the music is semi canon and written for the characters. It’s music so metaphor and such apply, but there is a connection.

YEEEEEEEES, I am so happy you two are reacting to RWBY. I'll try to offer as much non-spoiler information throughout the series because there is plenty of things that can go over your head the first time you watch RWBY.
Firstly, animation and graphics will get better with each season. Now on a very important note, all of the significant characters are based off of fairytales, mythology, folk lore, and some historical figures; we saw that the huntress that came to save Ruby is named Glynda Goodwitch, which is very obviously based off of Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz and the musical Wicked (I'll go over what the main cast is inspired by once they're all introduced). Also, it's fun to try and guess the fairytale/etc. that a character is based on (a tip for this is, most notably, the character's name often gives away what they were based off of, but sometimes they don't follow that pattern or they have 2 stories they're based on and you'll have to think about the character's personality and design, and watch for their mannerisms for the other story).
So in this world, named Remnant, the people of each major kingdom, AKA city, established a school to train warriors who would go on to fight back the creatures of Grimm and protect people from any nefarious evil-doers; but before students may enroll at these academies they must first graduate from a training school, which Ruby was still in before she was moved ahead. The training schools are comparable to our high schools and the huntsman academies are like colleges. Graduating from a huntsman academy will grant the graduate a huntsman license and the title of huntsman/huntress.

Nice to see you guys are watching RWBY, I'm a former fan of the show and watching the older episodes is nice. I remember one of you saying that one guy(name is Roman Torchwick btw) looked like the guy from A Clockwork Orange, that's what the series creator, the late Monty Oum, did, he made all the characters based off fictional characters, Ruby is based off Little Red Riding Hood, her sister, Yang Xiaolong, Goldilocks, Glynda and Ozpin, Wizard of Oz, you'll meet more. You've probably already been told, but the chapters in Volumes 1 & 2 are very short, it might be best to do multiple chapters in one video, but that's up to you guys.
There are also some side series' to RWBY too, there's World of Remnant which explains things in the world (of Remnant) which is usually watched around volume 2/3, and RWBY Chibi, which is a comedy series, the first series of which you should only watch after Volume 3.
Also PLEASE do the soundtracks, Jeff & Casey (who do the music) are amazing and pretty much all of the songs they do are astounding. They also give you an insight into characters/scenarios that you probably won't see in the show.

Every major character is based off a fairy tale, characters from mythology or historical figures.
For example, Ruby is Little Red Riding Hood, Weiss is Snow White, Blake is Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Yang is Goldilocks.
After each volume, you should listen to the soundtrack for that volume with the lyrics since all the songs are pretty good and story relevant giving a deeper understanding of the characters and what they're feeling and their past hardships, Weiss's (white) songs are especially good. There are channels on youtube that upload good lyric videos such as FlyntofRWBY, though he stopped making them a few years ago and is missing some of the songs from earlier volumes, his are still probably the best since he also got the lyrics directly from the song writer instead of guessing them just from listening.
Sirs and Madams Entertainment is also a great channel to find lyric videos for the later volumes that FlyntofRWBY doesn't cover.

RWBY is definitely one of those shows that gets better the further in you go. You can actually see the animation quality go up by leaps and bounds every season. Season one was just a small team and it looks great for what they accomplished with such a small budget.
As you've probably guessed by now, pretty much every character in this show is based (either loosely or not-so-loosely) on a character from a fairy tale or other story, some aren't even subtle about how their names directly reference their own inspiration. Ruby's parallels with Red Riding Hood are pretty obvious, but its a fun game to try and figure out who's based on what.
Plz continue it’s definitely a bit rough at the start but that’s what gives it its charm

OMG, YES! this is such a great anime. It is slow compared to other official anime, but that give it time to pull you into the story. Allows the story to explain what is going, and have fun in doing it. It does pick up, and get a more full adventure.
We are okay with it starting out slow as we are not used to anime so this feels like kind of a nice intro 🙂
Interesting fact, the map of Remnant was created by accident, the world map of RWBY was created by Monty Oum in 2012. It was based on ketchup smears made on a napkin he was using while at IHOP. Monty also stated that he textured the World Map by taking different pictures of food. The different foods he used included mashed potatoes, steaks, ice cream, bread, corn, cereal, ramen, shrimp, tacos, pizza, lettuce and possibly bacon.

Honestly this is a really great show and I definitely recommend watching all the way through. Though, with the exception of longer vids (some get upwards to about 15+ minutes long, so if you're wanting to keep the reaction vids shortish, then one at a time for those) I recommend watching 2 at a time, because some of them really tie into one another.
This is one of those shows that starts out pretty light but really hits the story hard. And yes, there are a *lot* of references to be found from myths, legends, and folklore to fairy tales and magical creatures. Also, this series has a lot of voices from the well known and loved series Red vs Blue, so if you ever chance a glance at that, you might hear some familiar voices!
For first season we have paired most episodes together. 2 and 3 will be tomorrow 🙂
Spot on with the clockwork orange thing. Someone probably already mentioned it when you watched the trailers but just in case; Every character design is based on something . Usually another character or person but it can be as simple as food or a meme.

A Clockwork Orange was a massive inspiration for Roman Torchwick. Most RWBY characters have a character from another story (usually a fairy tale) that served as their main inspiration.

Monty Ohm, the guy who wrote and directed the first couple seasons of RWBY, was a choreographer, so a lot of the fight scenes are going to look like dances.

There are a lot of clues in the show (in scenes, dialogue, music, etc) as to whom people are based on (myths, legends, other shows, etc) what is going on around the characters (sometimes off camera) and foreshadowing.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it on the last rwby vid, but the name RoosterTeeth comes from the idea of calling the company Co*kBite but for fairly obvious reasons, didn't end up happening.
Did you recognize the voice of the narrator at the beginning of the episode? It's Jen Taylor, who is the voice actor for Cortana in the Halo video game series.
Each season ("volume" in RWBY-speak) of RWBY has a new theme song, but the first episode ("chapter") is always a cold start, where the theme doesn't play until the end of the episode. From then on, the theme will play at the beginning of each episode in the season.
The Grim’s Fairy Tails thing you pointed out is very much on purpose. Many of the major characters throughout the show are based on characters from fairy tails, myths, legends, and fantasy. Such as Ruby with Little Red Riding Hood and Yang with Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

rwby is and still is one of my altime favorite series i started it years ago i think around the time they were on volume 3 or 4 i dont remember to well i just know i loved it for a while now and when you said it was a mix of grims fairy tales and harry potter your right cause the grims fairytales where a HUGE inspiration in the creators writing of the show (rip) as well as kingdom hearts and alot of other inspirations but none the less i hope you enjoy the series because it is special in my heart loved your reaction ❤

RWBY's fun, Kinda dropped off the show around volume 4-5 but before then was having a blast.
the animation for the first two seasons is a bit on the low quality end but it get better after :)
Torchwick is actually inspired by clockwork orange , just as rwby are inspired by fairytale every character has some sort of tale or legend inspiration some more obvious than others

Roman is a reference to the Clockwork Orange. Most if not all of the characters are based on fairy tales, fables, or other old stories or people. Some are obvious, like Ruby being "Little Red Riding Hood" while others are more thought intensive.
This is my favorite anime ever! So glad you’re reacting to it. As you may or may not have noticed the background characters are just silhouettes in the early seasons due to budget cuts and not having a lot of staff, but with it getting a lot of popularity, them hiring more staff, and having a higher budget, they made production a lot better. I also will admit with Monty’s passing the fighting sequences do lack that certain touch Monty had in them when he was alive, but that doesn’t mean that they are terrible now. If you continue watching this you’ll see what I mean.
Fun fact.. the lady in the red dress in the bad guys plane is my favourite character in the series

As a fun tidbit... RWBY is 15, Yang is 17... And they're going to what is effectively monster hunting college
Apparently they were going to fill this show with a lot of pop culture references, for example right after the prologue you can see the Fourth Doctor’s scarf hanging from a clothes line and of course there’s Truth from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood on the back of one of the magazines, but this was the only episode in which they did that.
Also all the characters are based on fairytales, literature, or historical figures.
