I was lucky enough to see this band perform this album in an inexplicably quiet bar in Sydney one night. As a long time fan, it was amazing to be so close to such a musician and great band. She always plays a great show and I can't wait to see what comes next.
We're so lucky to have Cate Le Bon, every new record is amazing. It's amazing how they can make such complex songs sound so organical. Let's celebrate!
New listener here, Hauntingly beautiful. "The music of Cate Le Bon, the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, has a rigorous, art-school weirdness that can be both entrancing and estranging. She will write a lovely melody, then thread it through patches of dissonance." The New Yorker - Margaret Talbot Yup, sounds about right.
She's a goddess 😍 Saw them play a free show at the Getty museum in LA a few months ago. Top 3 performances I've ever seen, hands down. SUCH presence! Dreamy and warm and mesmerizing. If she's playing near you, DON'T miss it!
So glad to come across this, we saw her live shortly after this was recorded and totally enjoyed it. I was super impressed with the musical versatility of her band as well. One of my favorite CD's in my collection!
How wonderfully original and eccentric. That voice. Nice to see "Sweet Baboo" Stephen Black, as well. I wondered where he'd vanished to. And naturally I'm now in love with the drummer. Off to purchase the album ...
Her lyrics take me places and the expanded instrumental parts really does them a service. 'Tell the Man' builds and builds with a different harmonic and refrain ('Love is') and time signature and that injection of humour with the falling sax scales.
Amazing sound quality. Thanks KEXP I'm a relatively new fan of Cate Le Bon. I adore the Ladies Crab Day and Reward albums. Have a third album on order now. Wonderful stuff indeed.
Been a fan for about a year now. At first this album was shockingly unexpected. My knee jerk was that it was ok. This performance now makes it her best album this far. Bravo Cate! Love from Phoenix Arizona
Mother's Mother's Magazines, I love this song, the way that it moves rhythmically, and the voices, the whole sound grabs me, it could be on a Captain Beefheart album (just thought this as I was writing)
They've got an excellent command over volume. I tend to have to raise the volume to enjoy music. the band took me immediately. So many quality listening hours LOST listening through headphones .time for a Hi-Fi stereo
love neglected by reward. okay. I feel the dreamy heat of southern florida with feet planted on the east shore facing endless miles of sand and crystalline water over which our souls once flew. 1491
I don’t understand how someone this amazing isn’t insanely popular. I know I can’t believe I’m saying that I can’t even believe I’d want that, right, no one wants their favorites to become pop idols, but isn’t weird that David Bowie is a rock god and Cate Le Bon is a well kept secret? She’s brilliant. I mean factor in misogyny and the general decline of western civilization and I still don’t get it. Do not get it.
another 2024 check in from me for Cate Le Bon. Love her so much.
I need a audiobook read by Cheryl Waters.
evryone needs a little cheryl waters in their life.
She is like the most competent and at the same time enjoyable host ever!
i wish cheryl waters was my mom
I agree! Who will take my monies?
Honestly her voice is dreamy. I’d date her.

She’s an extremely rare artist in that you can listen to her entire discography and every song is good.

Victoria Legrand?
Aldous harding?
cold, dead and absolutely devoid of any dynamics. don't know how anyone may like it
Thank you KEXP! Cate Le Bon is great!

she helps me with the loss of my Idols.Shes my contemporary star!!
그녀와 밴드는 명확하고 투명한 기쁨을 알게 해주는 멋진 뮤지션입니다.

Cate le Bon is lyfe. Always a lesson watching her perform.
Not a super big fan of saying x sounds like y but there's a huge amount of talking heads in these songs and I'm 100% digging it.

The horns are a fine addition to this set up like Radiohead's KID A album.
Finally
They've got an excellent command over volume. I tend to have to raise the volume to enjoy music. the band took me immediately. So many quality listening hours LOST listening through headphones .time for a Hi-Fi stereo
Magnificent
Damn. this is good. where have I been?
I’m intrigued by her furniture, I’d love to see that!
maria gracias 😄
Butty bach I asked this lovely lady where The Beaver Town Bar was at E.O.T.R fest. I didnt know it was her tbf but then realized and felt amazed :D
Kinda reminds me of Julia Holter. Except where Holter is warm, she is cool.
Loooove juila holter!! Saw her last year and I just stood there crying...it was such a moving performance
Yes! And where Holter's voice is cool, Le Bon's voice is warm and deep. Interesting that the temperature of their music should be so different.
divina
Get Black Midi and Spirit of the Beehive on here please

Interesting guitar on the gent in the red shirt; Anyone know what brand and model that one is? :-)

30 minutes of Faaff. Come on Cariad!
She hits the coasts. Somehow she finds a way to play in southeast Europe but not the southeast United States?
I love Nico.
AOTY
I love Cate, but is anyone else reminded of PJ Harvey at times?
the female voice in song has no equal on this earth than KATE
Oh Cate, you are so awesome and so awkward.
She uses very often the verb 'to dictate'. Very interesting person.
Kamikaze Palm Tree on the drums!
