I see this _constantly_ when people make OCs of characters for an existing show. They always draw the character using the archetype of the main character. Or whenever artists draw themselves in a TV show. They always just go for the main characters, with little thought of why thats a bad choice. Its one thing to draw in the style of another show, its another to not even bother with the creative process behind those shows design.

The sponsor section was entertaining. YOU TRICKED ME INTO WATCHING AN ADVERTISEMENT! That must be the first time a youtuber has successfully done that to me.
I believe the word you're looking for there is 'conflates' and you're dead right. That said, as Harry pointed out the mistakes they made, and the difficulties coming across, I realized I've committed many of the same errors myself while just dicking around with fellow webcomickers and drawing each other's characters in each other's styles.. y'know back before they all decided to hate me.
I've never been fond of art style swaps but watching this felt like the ultimate vindication. literally all the issues I had with them were just laid out so perfectly in this video and seeing your redesigns felt like I was finally fed gourmet food after years of eating garbage
Holy crap, I super appreciate when an artist actually commits to the style they're imitating. More than just copying an existing character design and being done like the art you corrected- this is the only kind of 'artfix' I will absolutely stand behind! Also that ad- good lord it's so perfect. You might have just sold me on it just from that visual authenticity.
That sponsor cartoon... DAMN! If it wasn't about a very modern service, you could have told me that it was actually old commercial, I would have FULLY believed you. Very well animated!
OMG ! "Drawing in the artstyle of, but actually it's just the protagonist with the face of said character" has been one of my pet peeves for YEARS !! I'm so glad I'm not the only one !!
Dexter in the PowerPuff Girls style is actually just gonna be the same style because the two shows are very related to each other in many ways because the two creators (Craig McCracken and Gennedy Tarakosky) worked on both shows and were roommates, so they know what the characters look like
It's terrifying how accurate he could make the character to be that accurate to the style. But I'm more terrified if the stock photos he used on the vids were actually drawn by him.
11:43 Dexter appeared in a cameo in the original Powerpuff Girls, and he literally still looks like his normal self. This doesn't make sense, even canonically in the PPG universe.
9:35 Ok, This one genuinely caught me by surprise. I've been a Making Fiends fan for a while now, and to see *you* of all people bringing it up is simply amazing. Love it.
The dexter one is ironic, because in the 1st season dexter was in the powerpuff girls as a background character in pokey oaks. It was already done and they still messed it up!

Lincoln Loud drawn in “Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ style” is absolutely hilarious to me. Like no, that’s not Lincoln Loud, thats Michael Angelo wearing a wig. I think they forgot that they only had to draw them in the shows style, not as a TURTLE. 😭

Just goes to prove how Nickelodeon is full of cash grabbers nowadays. It's crazy just how much better the art looks when someone puts time and care into it. Also....I love your humor, it's as amazing as your artwork.
THANK YOU!! I've been wanting so badly to learn how to at least somewhat properly copy artstyles, but there are pretty much 0 tutorials for it since people assume copying art styles comes with the intention to steal from or impersonate an artist(which it unfortunately mostly does). I just really wanna try drawing some of my characters in popular styles, plus it's a useful skill if I ever end up working on an animation project or something
I always find that when people try to replicate old animation styles, it always looks like it’s still new, but your ad straight up looks like an ad you’d see when watching i love lucy or something holy shit I love it so much
I love this. This happens a lot to anime style challenges too where people just replace a character and call it a day but those that did it correctly has some of the prettiest drawings.
that one is tricky, because sometimes there's so much sameface in a given anime that you really have no choice. Other times though, yeah. They totally do the equivalent of 'everyone is a powerpuff girl' with those. I did that once trying to draw _myself_ in a bunch of anime styles, and while I TRIED to be more authentic by reailzing that I'm not a small-featured prettyboy and probably don't look like the main characters (but rather their dads, mentors, or blowhard nemeses), I still hit a pretty hard wall of "nobody has beards or wavy hair in these shows"
I am still seriously impressed with how much effort goes into these videos! So many drawings are made just for one of these videos! Also, I really liked how you went into detail on how to properly do certain art styles and that OrFl TuMe™ method. I'll Definitely be tuning in to the program more often.
Honestly, if I were to make 2D Jimmy Neutron, I'd cross reference another show worked on by DNA Productions: _The Weird Al Show,_ the "Fatman" skits in specific, which essentially _do_ have Jimmy Neutron's style but in thick-lined 2D instead.
honestly, looks more appealing than the actual loud house art style and this art post Combined Harry Gold is Gold, but you already knew that and that sponsorship is golden
Seeing a style swap into the PPG style where the characters aren't designed to look like they're one of the girls is honestly pretty dang refreshing (as well as impressive), and, speaking as a perfectionist, the fact you were able to program every single detail to a T, especially the eyes, characters usually built out of basic shapes (I.e. circles and triangles), AND especially being able to distinguish Dexter’s Lab really shows the dedication. Amazing job man. I’d love to see you do your own style-swap series. (p.s. as an occasionally avid watcher of vintage cartoons... that vpn sponsor man like holy shit).

Ain't no way did they forget humans exist in the TMNT universe lol. If they wanted to make Lincoln a mutant, make him a rabbit or something.
12:20 - Not to mention that Dexter himself has cameod in the original PPG, and he didn't change at all. Like, at *all*. Same art style as in Dexter's Lab.
you have Genndy and Craig working on both of their shows like brothers, it's kinda expected in a way
@@Fatih_M177 Fair point! I assume that if a human from the PPG universe appeared in DL, they wouldn't change one bit. Probably would have different eyes, but everything else would be the same.
Ignoring that they have the same style, I would imagine that art style swaps don't really occur in crossovers, even if there are differences. It's just easier to not redesign the characters unless they're so completely incompatible that you can't get away with it, like Jimmy Timmy Power Hour...
Although I can't really think of any other crossovers where the styles probably could've used swapping... The Simpsons x Family Guy?
@@TurretBot Style swaps do actually happen in other crossovers, well kinda, one example would be O.K K.O and Captain Planet, yeah i didn't knew that existed, and sometimes when characters from other shows Cameo, they change art stlyes slightly
Thank you, Harry. This type of lazy “style-swap” stuff has always annoyed me. Always a relief to see someone take the time to understand the styles they’re imitating.
How did they not learn from last time?! Whoever got hired for this needs to get replaced
Esp for that Lincoln x Hey Arnold drawing - ITS HORRIFYING.

Harry Gold is definitely an underrated UA-camr. He's an amazing artist, he replicates the 50's shows very well, and others. His paid promotions definitely stand out from other UA-camr paid promotion,, being based on 50's cartoon commercials. There just 💋 beautiful.
Did Harry Gold write this comment
The jokes are just nonstop and always hit too
@@oliverfulayter5515 I dont think its proof that someone is an alt because they are... giving praise to a youtuber.
The sponsor section was entertaining. YOU TRICKED ME INTO WATCHING AN ADVERTISEMENT! That must be the first time a youtuber has successfully done that to me.

Seems like Nick Twitter conflates drawing a character in another cartoon's art style with drawing a character as a character from another show.
They’re honestly better off re-captioning those tweets as “characters from other shows dressed up as this one character from another show”.
@@kaylemathewcomendador6964 which would be fun, especially on hallyweens.
I've never been fond of art style swaps but watching this felt like the ultimate vindication. literally all the issues I had with them were just laid out so perfectly in this video and seeing your redesigns felt like I was finally fed gourmet food after years of eating garbage
Seriously THIS. I love how he has common sense in art and can use his skills well, he's so talented! It would be my dream to draw with him!
It’s the witty jokes, art, and atmosphere that make your channel one of the best on UA-cam. Keep doing what you do, Harry.
Once again, Harry saves us from Nick's art abominations.

Yes that is Leonard Nimoy my friend.

that sponsor segment animation is to die for, so authentic looking!
This video is actually helpful for drawing in already existing styles, and I mostly skip sponsors but that was a great segment that I couldn't skip!
The dexter one is ironic, because in the 1st season dexter was in the powerpuff girls as a background character in pokey oaks.
It was already done and they still messed it up!
god jimmy loud is cursed, but accurate to the weirdest crossover in Nickalodean we can reference for a conversion. how ever close you think that be

Did Nick just forget that human characters exist in Ninja Turtles?
Right 💀💀

EXACTLY 😭 it looks so goofy
I am frothing at the mouth at how accurately you capture the styles of so many different cartoons. Absolutely incredible.
what they dont realize is you can style a character in a show without using the main character as a base lmao
these cartoon studios: “drawing *[insert cartoon character here]* -in different art styles from our other cartoons- as different characters from our other cartoons”
harry over here: actually draws the character in different art styles from the studio’s other cartoons/what he would look like if he existed in their worlds!
like come on! underrated channel! banger artist!
10:29 Is that Sir Topham Hatt from Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends? It is in my eyes.
They did the ROTTMNT SO DIRTY and you saved it so well 😩
13:34 i know you pass it off as a joke but this is a very good point. there is a huge difference in the impact of random artists vs large corporations. random ppl on twitter, no matter how offensive, do NOT have the power to “oppress” anybody. corporations do.
I think your neutron lincon captures the janky early CGI style Jimmy and his friends have honestly, it's pretty good for what it is in my opinion.
The fact that a UA-camr can do a better job at the style swaps than the COMPANY.
Your way of talking and presenting your videos are just so charming to me. You have such a serious, yet friendly and humorous aura, and i just love that about your videos!
And that add break was so fun to look at, i miss artstyle like that, and i hope you'll do something similar for future advertisements
In all regards, have a great day, and keep up being inspiring :)
Thanks so much! You have a grand day too!!
I need to see more acknowledgement of the VPN ad being probably the highest quality sponsor plug a UA-camr has ever made
Bro really cranked out all the art styles for this one.
This is amazing! Honestly, how the hell does someone do something like this SO much better than the creators?

THE ORIGINAL ROTTMNT ONE MADE ME CRY, WHY IS HE JUST MICHAELANGELO IN A WIG,WHAT DID THEY DO TO HIM???
They really went: there’s an orange turtle, we’ll just use him
I always find that when people try to replicate old animation styles, it always looks like it’s still new, but your ad straight up looks like an ad you’d see when watching i love lucy or something holy shit I love it so much
I love this.
Ironically, the Spongebob style was more recognizable when you drew Lincoln as a human 7:53
honestly, looks more appealing than the actual loud house art style and this art post Combined
Harry Gold is Gold, but you already knew that
and that sponsorship is golden
EXACTLY. I just love his skills, he's talented! I REALLY WANNA see the characters he drew animated! ❤

Dude, your style from theirs actually takes consideration and creativity to or it's so much easier to picture them in the other show's styles, because of how accurate you made them. I don't know if you actively or currently make character designs, or frequently draw a lot of characters or even produce shows! But your work is really cool.
Welp, here goes the comment i wanted to leave you for a while.
Harry, oh my GOD i can't even begin to describe how much i genuinely admire you. I don't even remember how i found you, i think your Sonic OC videos popped up in my recommended once about a month ago... But i don't think I've EVER subbed to someone this fast before. I could go on about damn near everything on your channel. The creative video ideas, the sheer QUALITY with which you execute them... And that's not even talking about your art, dude. HOW do you pump out this much high quality stuff. Those Pokemon videos with like 50 different little drawings always leave me questioning if your hand is ok... Not just that, the sheer... Flexibility? Is that the term? Of your art? Insane. Your ability to successfully imitate every art style under the dang sun is genuinely inspiring. As a young artist who still has a lot to learn, you're legit one of my biggest inspirations. I also think your whole 1930s black and white esthetic is really fun and unique! You're the only UA-camr I've seen that does it. In conclusion, it's no secret that you're underrated as all hell, and i only wish you the best. You're gonna blow up one day, I'm 100% sure of it. 🖤
