- This has to be the easiest Onion Bhaji Recipe ever! Crispy Coated outside with a soft-centered bread-like interior, onions, and spice all the way through. Perfect as a snack or light meal.
No sliced potato
No sliced peppers
No egg
I'm not making a vegetable pakora - I make my Onion Bhajis as Onion Bhajis!!
There are way too many copycat recipes out there -this one makes a superb Onion Bhaji at home!
Do not fry too high - 1st fry
Do not fry too high - 2nd fry
Do Not Squeeze too tight - they will hold together
Perfect crispy coated outside full flavour with a soft bread-ish type interior.
These can be made in advance and shoved in the freezer. Freeze very well up to 12 months. To reheat, defrost flash fry or oven cook - 180 degrees for about 10 mins

My favourite line,,, my favourite of all Indian cuisine - I rate a restaurant/take away is by their turn out of Bhajis,,
Thanks mate, genius.
Far far easier than EVERY OTHER RECIPE ON UA-cam.
This is the reason why your videos are the best. None of the absurd usual UA-cam faff.
Wow, thank you! Best, Rik
I've never eaten Indian food, but these look delicious.
Thank you. Best, Rik
Indian food is delicious!!
Tru it! I. Took some friends to indian restaurant and they got stuck on Indian food. Tell them to make mild. Try non veg biryani, tandoori chicken, kabab
i used a cup of plain flower 2 table spoons of mayflower curry powder 1 teaspoon of dried garlic 2 teaspoons of 4 seasons seasoning 1 teaspoon ginger 1 teaspoon of dried chilli powder mixed it with water let it sit 30mins . chopped 3 cooking onions 1 red salad onion . mixed it all up . cheap tasty meal
Sounds amazing! Thank you. Best, Rik
This sounds doable with ingredients I mostly have! Blessings sent from Gramma Gia in the Ozarks
Yum
What a brilliant vid
Twice fried is literally genius, that way I can use the second fry to take them up to really quite dark outside and still keep them soft and oozy in the middle.
The resulting almost burnt surface is a slightly bitter onion flavour I myself love in contrast to the sweetness of the onion inside, now I don't have to sacrifice the moist inside for it any more.
Onion bhajis are lovely just dipped but make a flatter patty shape in the pan and then slip one on top of your burger with all the normal salad fixings and a juicy slice of tomato - massive upgrade
That these can be made ahead and then heated in the oven as you're assembling your burgers makes them a must, you can even miss out the spices for a clean onion burger taste but I never would
Great read! Thanks for sharing. Best, Rik
Whoa! What an awesome idea!! I’ll be trying your idea for sure. I used to be a competition burger judge and this definitely sounds like a winner.
Thank you. Best, Rik@@victorkroud3642
Love the idea of using them on a burger, will def. try that.
This is genius! It's like a hush puppy, hot water cornbread and a blooming onion all in one! I ate dinner already but I think I'm going to make a slightly different version because I haven't all the Indian type seasonings here!
Thank you. Best, Rik
I've got to try these - onions are such an underrated veg - so delicious and so good for you.
Thank you. Best, Rik
Deep fried onions are goo.... nevermind, of course they are, this is healthfood
Ying and yang......the onions are good, the frying is bad but a little bit of naughty won't kill you if it's only once in a while! I promise I'll eat very very healthily for the next few days to make up for it!! Cheers fom Oz!!@@MrJhchrist

Maybe we in the US need to first get a few Indian takeout restaurants first.

@@priceringo1756we have plenty of them. I live in west gd Virginia and have 3 Indian joints within 15 to 20 minutes of home and I live rural.

Hi Ric. Good to see you back. Do you reuse the bahji frying oil as a spiced oil for cooking other dishes?
Yes Tibor - flavoured oil can be used in a multitude of ways especially with curries - just perfect!
As I’m looking back on your earlier recipes which I’m loving, I’m just wondering if you could do these in the air fryer ?❤
