You Sir! Are a true legend, I’m rapidly getting the feeling my new air fryer is going to be getting a serious hammering! Sprouts in an air fryer that come out so tantalisingly delicious. The world has now become my oyster. thank you. 🤗🤗
@@BackyardChef I am beginning to appreciate that, though I must admit the biggest problem I have with it at the minute is that I can’t stop calling it a dam “Air Dryer"! 🤪🤣
I love Brussel sprouts, but tend to have a challenge cooking them to come out just right. I like them tender. Not burned or overcooked. I've got to try your way to cook them. They look fabulous. Thanks again chef for another very useful recipe. Can't wait to try. 😊❤
hi ric iam 77 and i have never fancied sprouts the smell from cooking put me off i tried yours and you are right they got a lovely nutty flavour well done
Brussel sprouts are my absolute favorite! Those look fantastic. Would you happen to know of any recipes that use onion with brussels? Maybe bacon, onion and brussels? Keep those ideas coming. Love it!
Love sprouts. My other half does a good version. Shreds them thrn does in fry pan with bacon + worcester sauce ....prob sumat else but i dont pay attention to that....just scoff em. Will try this way.when my daughter was tiny she used to pinch sprouts off other peoples plates
I absolutely love sprouts and im afraid i do like them on the squishy side, not falling apart, but really dislike going for a meal and the blooming sprouts are pinging about your plare because they'too hard to cut through lol. I dont have an air fryer but my family does a siminlar trick with green beans:- grow your own or buy a packet of thin green beans, top and tail them. Finely chop 1 or 2 sballots and a garlic clove, thinly dice up 3/4 reashers of lean smoked streaky bacon. In a pan of boiling salted water blanch green beans, about 5 mins, drain and set aside. In the same pan heat till hot then add a hearty amount of butter, when melted and bubbling add the shallots and bacon, cook on high until bacon fully cooked and there is a brown to the bottom of the pan where the butter has slighty caught, add the garlic and continue to cook on high stirring continuously. Turn off heat and add green beans to the pan. Deglaze the pan with the green beans, stiring and tossing the shallot, bacon and garlic through out the beans, add a good sprinkling of freshly ground black pepper and yum, there you go 😊
Wow. I've always loved sprouts, since I was a child. And cabbage. I'm definitely going to cook sprouts like that from now on. I've only got a small (round) air fryer, so need to get a tin to fit inside it. Perhaps a sponge tin would fit. They look delicious with the bacon.
My MIL used to finely slice hers and then she would blanch them (they were lovely) one day she accidently charred them (not actually burnt but the water had evaporated out and the bottom layer got charred. These were seriously delish. I have never been able to replicate them 😢
Both sounds delicious - I have a cracker of a recipe here, probably not for every one - I will make it soon. I've actually just had it for dinner a couple of days ago. Best, Rik
they look great i have only had my air fryer a couple of weeks i have done your toad in the hole great i will be doing these with my christmas dinner many thanks
Sandy just watch them in the air fryer depending on the fryer they could still char up too much - if they are charring stir them over with a spoon, Happy Christmas. Best, Rik
I make sprouts in a pan on the stove and it seems to be the best way, though I havent tried in air fryer, im sure theyre good. A little oil and a little water in the pan, put in halved sprouts, cook at med high with lid on and the water steams the sprouts. Remove lid after a while and fry till scorching colouration. Done. Carrots come out great using same technique. Cook to desired doneness ideally before mush.
When I first moved to Cincy OH it was likepeople thought they were Poison now on every menu here, in a fancy Toco bar said seriously to the bartender brussel sprout toco are you kidding me? Chief overheard me gave me a free one, amazingly good keep up the good work. Sorry hot cross buns.
They look bang on pal. I usually par boil mine then when I've cooked some bacon lardons in the frying pan, add the sprouts with a knob of butter and salt and pepper. My air fryer is only small but I'm gunna try them in a takeaway foil tray and see how they turn out. Another cracking video rik 👌👏👍👊
We used to put them in cold water with salt to sit for half an hr....any of those wee bugs would come out of where ever they were hiding...then rinse them off and cook hiw u like.
Great tip! All vegetables here and fruit, we put in water with baking soda/bicarbonate of soda it cleans off and re vitalisers the ingredients. Best, Rik
Honestly, everything here goes in that. It cleans out the chemicals. Put some wilitng veg in water with a spoon of soda leave it 15 mins or so and you will see it look way better. Best, Rik@@cookiescott9329
Lovely. Thought the cross was to help with cooking aparently not so you are right no need. Apparently in medievil times they thought evil spirits hid in the leaves so the cross protected you. Still going to do it, habbit no evil sprout demons yet so appears to work.

I love budgies heads with a Sunday roast dinner. Fresh Brussels are high priced in the USA, $3 a lb.
I use lemon pepper. Lovely recipe Rik. 👍🏼
Sounds great! Wow - here they are $5 - 1.89THB. for a small tray with 6 sprouts in - Aussie imports. Crazy! Thank you. Best, Rik
