Good point. Never stopped to think that Ned & Robert were 18-20 years old when they rebelled against the Mad King. Puts stuff in a new perspective.

Binging all your videos this morning. Tommen being aged up ruined Seasons 5 & 6 as well.

Yes! Wonderful video concept. I’ve always thought of Jaime as messed up b/c he was inducted into the KG @ 15yo and a king slayer by 16yo roughly.. yikes!
Also the fact that he, Cersei and Lyanna would be the same age when this is all going down is interesting . It seems that Ned has a lot more grace towards his sister’s plight (for obvious reasons) and alludes to her youth being a factor. However, that fact is not given to Jaime or his actions during that period.

This is such a great take. I’m rewatching GOT right now for the third time & it’s been a long time in between. This really lets you look at dialogue & choices different. Well played Sir…well played 🎩*tip 👏👏👏👏

I fully agree with you. I cannot watch the show without being mad about how the age up makes them look dumb and petty when they are just traumatized and confused. I watched the show with my partner who hadn’t read the books and didn’t know they did all of these things as teenagers and thought they were just reckless and dumb people. It’s so frustrating

The ages of the core adults in ASOIAF was something I couldn't let go of for all of these reasons

The fact that the Hound was only 26 in the beginning of the story too... damn

They would be breaking laws to depict the stuff that happened with an age-accurate Daenerys and Khal Drogo, so that age-up is fully understandable. But yes, a lot of the other characters make sense.
At first the showrunners wanted to cut Rickon Stark entirely (because how much can you do with a character who's only 3 in the first book?) until George vetoed it, and the show ended up keeping him around longer by switching around when Jojen and Meera come in. I feel like that decision actually improved Osha's character.

Cersei was around 7yo when she started to mess around with Jaime and mistreat Tyrion when he was in the cradle. She killed her best friend when they were 11 or so, so she wouldnt spill the beans about a prophecy told by a woods witch. At 15 she effed her twin brother brainless to convince him to throw his life away joining the kingsguard.
She was well protected and safe during the rebellion in the Westerlands, a place war didn’t reach directly. She never even has a random thought about it.
So, NO, she most definitely isn’t who she is because of war.

more than one thing can be true at the same time. at no point do i say this is the ONLY thing affecting these characters lol only that it affects EVERYONE in some way.

I personally think what affected Cersei the most was having a twin brother and experiencing how different the two were treated as they got older. She even dressed up like Jamie and pretended to be him. I think that was behind her seducing and manipulating Jamie.

If you want to check out some individual chapters or the entire books, youtube has many channels that have the books uploaded as audiobooks. My personal favorites are Last Seen Ahorse and DavidreadsASoIaF (he also has the Dunk and Egg book uploaded). Last Seen Ahorse has individual character playlists and book playlists, which I really like. There's also a few channels that have Fire and Blood uploaded. Those two I mentioned do not have it on theirs.

I am one of the book fans that believe Ned also lost his first love because of having to marry Cat.
