Jude doesn’t kill Valerian in the tower. She stabs him, yes, but she doesn’t kill him. He keeps quiet cuz he’s embarrassed that he was bested by a mortal girl, but Dain finds out abt the incident anyway and THAT is what he punishes Jude for, not saving Sophie (which would have probably had much larger consequences for Jude). Jude only actually kills Valerian when he drunkenly breaks into her house and attempts to kill her (either later the same day as she stabbed him, or the next day.. I can’t quite remember). She kills him, she hides his body, the Ghost shows up, she goes with the Ghost, she gets back afterward and then buries the body.
I was gonna say the same thing. I remember this scene so vividly because I was so shocked she actaully killed him like I dead ass GASPED because I didn't realize that the book was going to have so much murder in it for some reason until that point. twas like a turning point. sorry im yapping this series was big for me and the start of my reading journey and I have no one to talk to about it with so im bothering youuu lalala
@ nonono i LOVE this series!! you’re not bothering me at all haha. i remember being shocked as well, but that was a really big turning point for Jude, considering it was her first (of many) kill(s). definitely deserved bc Valerian was an a$$, but shocking nonetheless. and she did it with one hand too! a bada$$!!!
i love these books, but fair warning they’re explicitly not a romance. Holly Black never marketed them as romance. it’s very much a fantasy political novel with some romance elements. Jude and Carden are real enemies to lovers, and it takes a long time to get to the lovers part. so if you’re looking for a fluffy fantasy romance, maybe skip this one.
@ yeah, unfortunately BookTok heard “enemies to lovers” and immediately started telling people it was a romance. then, Holly Black kept having to tell people it was never a romance and never meant to be marketed as one.
Oh, good. Thank you for this comment, the description on goodreads made this out to be a romance book and I’m really tired of romance rn, so i wasn’t gonna read it, but a political fantasy sounds perfect.
Jude actually stabs herself without any glamour, Dain released the glamour to make her do it to prove her loyalty to him and punish her. she did it anyway
If the love interest in a book is a jerk in the beginning I can’t read it🙄🙄 I find it so annoying when a guy is literally super mean in a book and then when the main character gets to know him a little better he’s just a little misunderstood. Nope. There is no reason to be a jerk, manipulative and evil. I guess some people enjoy this kind of romance but I can’t deal with it, super annoying.
That's the same reason I couldn't finish reading this book :') I just find it really annoying when the love interest is a jerk, like what does the fmc see in him which I don't 😭
@@Arcseca Thiiis!! Like I know it’a fiction and not real life and people really love the enemies to lovers trope, and I do think it can be made well depending. But here he’a literally just a jerk and in real life that would turn me off so much😂😅 But like I said, everyone can enjoy some different things when it comes to fiction and some enemies to lovers works really well.
I had a hard time getting passed that as well 😅, but when you read later into the series you find out how absolutely messed up Cardan’s life was. His mother and brother, the only people who were really a part of his life were abusive, and he took it out on his friends and classmates. He an example of a person placed in a bad environment, and how you become a better person when in better situations lol.
You HAVE TO do the other books. I FREAKING LOVE THEM so that would be AWESOME. PS: I cant believe this channel just started cz this is just chefs kiss ✨
So a few things wrong with this- 1. Valerion was not killed until the second incident. 2. Jude risked her spy identity by killing Valerion after the second incident, because she refused to be glamoured to jump off the tower. Dain then made her stab her own hand WITHOUT the glamour, so she would do it willingly as she should have with Valerion. That was the whole point of stabbing her hand, so she learned to do stuff willingly and just hold everything back. So im disappointed you said Dain glamoured her :( Fun, good summary but not entirely accurate.
I genuinely love Oriana when we get into books 2 and 3 all of her actions make sense and she was just doing what she had to do and she did end up reconciling with Jude I believe.
I remember reading the entire trilogy in like 8 hours and I was bored out of my mind so idk how you made this summary so appealing that I'm tempted to read it again lmao
Seeing these characters in this art style is so silly. Cardan here just looks like a happy little guy and not at all the bastard ball of angst he actually is lmao
This is great ! but it’s always so funny how you can tell someone hasn’t read the other Holly Black’s faeries books cause of the way they draw Kaye, Severin or Ben (Severin’s lover)
OOH MYY I WAS WISHING FOR THIS EVER SINCE I SAW YOUR OTHER SUMMARY DAYS AGO I NEVER EXPECTED IT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS WONDERFUL SUMMARY OF MY FAV BOOK!!!!!!!!!
I watched this video, grabbed a copy of the book, and finished it in 2 days. Time to read the next one! I'm never for "booktok" books but this was soo good. You've also convinced me to try reading Fourth Wing too loll
To everyone interested, this is an "enemies to lovers" Where they actually tried to murder each other not just can't stand each others guts abd banter then lust came and had sex etc. 2nd if all, if you want romance this ain't for you. This is mostly based on political fantasy, focused on a badass woman trying to gain the place she deserves.
@zink6379 people always judge this book too early and never read on its so odd....the complaints that they have would be resolved if they FINISHED the book!! Then again, Faerie is a dark world and I'm glad Holly Black portrays it as such. Some people either don't like it, or just aren't ready for the cruelty the setting brings.
Meh I think are just opinions. Generally I like this kind of books, and I’m not a person who is disturbed by cruelty, but I swear I couldn’t hate it more lol. I gave it a chance, I read the first 2 books and I swear were so annoying. I needed 2 months to finish the first, then started the 2 and was exactly the same. I don’t understand why really, but this book is a big no for me. The world building wasn’t done right, I hated every single character, for the most of the 1 book I didn’t see a real plot, then I thought would be different bc of the last chapters, until I read the 2 one and was exactly the same. So I guess it depends only about ur personal experience
that girl had a cool idea, drew that video and then comes people coping, you guys copied even the ART STYLE, wtf dude have so creativity, not even the jokes are good

I disliked many parts of it and thought it was messyily written and plotted out, but i both loved the larger idea behind it and the world it was set in. there were many ideas i felt had potential if it hadn't been so poorly executed, but I ultimately enjoyed it despite the glaring flaws.
I hate this trope in a book, Carden is so incredibly toxic at the start, and middle. Plus, they literally tried killing her. AND I especially hate when the fmc forgets it and makes a truce. LIKE GURL, in that situation, idgaf I’m holding a grudge FOREVER. WHO gives a shit if he apologizes… oh wait, carden didn’t. When the male mc is the reason for the fmc being put in a terrible situation.
Cardan never tried killing her, he saved her from them by pricking her finger so that she would suck it and taste the salt in her blood which releases humans for faerie enchantmants. The one who tried killing her was Valerian and he did it with no approvel or knowledge from Cardan. And Jude didn't forget it, she murdered Valerian and buried him in her yard. Cardan prides himself on his virtue of hating murder. By the time this happens Jude has already killed a messenger for Dane. Also we learn Cardan is as much as a victim of his friends as Jude is, he doesn't like them at all, he is stuck with them because they are all he has. Because Dane, the one who Jude decided to work for, made it so by framing him. Jude learns that this powerful arrogant prince is part of a facade of an abused neglected child. Despite her being human, she was under the protection and care of Madoc and has loving siblings, Cardan was taken in by his other abusive older brother who whipped him. Cardan is actually the least Cruel Prince and when he gained power he only turned nicer.
i know you said you didn't care if he apologizes or not, but he DID actually apologize to jude in book 2. it was actually kind of sweet, their conversation!
The only defence I have to this one in particular is they're fae. The fae DO NOT have human morality. It's why I can't read a lot of books with the fae in them because the authors will only play with the 'bad things' to then later justify 'good and bad' while ignoring what fae nature is. When both Seelie AND Unseelie aren't good side vs bad side. Both just follow certain codes and they aren't GOOD CODES. Especially to humans and especially to each other.
@@TonksTheFool Exactly, Holly Black actually knows what she writes. I haven't read any good stories about fae except from Holly Black and Karen Marie Moning
not a huge fan, but i read the whole trilogy: The reason why Cardan was like that to Jude in the beginning was because that was how he was taught "love" by Balekin. Growing up, he received ABSOLUTELY NO LOVE from his family and the only close thing to "love" he got was Balekin who abused him, saying that it's because he cares abt Cardan. So Cardan was being like that to Jude because he thought that was how affection is taught to him. Plus, he's an immortal fae, so ofc he doesn't understand what's right and what's wrong to human morality if you read the book (+trilogy honestly) you'll notice how FUCKED UP cardan's life is fr
So the cruel prince... is a bully?... I dont usually read romantasy but i king of had some expecattions because of how everyone hyped this book. But a bully?! Seriously??
Feels like a TheCookieRhino rip-off? I'm sorry if this comes off as mean. It feels like the creator didn't really care about the book and made this for views? There's some quality about the video that seems forced....
8:55 Jude did not murder Valyrian yet. She stabbed him, but he survived. Valyrian didn’t tell anyone because he was too embarrassed that a mortal had bested him. However, in the next chapters, Valyrian attempts to kill Jude in her own house, but it ends differently. Jude ends up killing him by slicing his throat and hiding his body in the stables. 9:41 Sophie did not accidentally fall into the ocean. She willingly threw herself in and died because she could not accept the reality of being glamoured for years. She didn’t want to live with the memory of the Fae. 9:58 Prince Dain did not use glamour. Jude willingly stabbed her hand to prove herself. Well, it was a fun summary of the book and how chaotic it was. I thought the book was more about romance, but it was actually about fantasy, the realm of the Fae, and blood. The story only gets better and more chaotic in the following books, but the tension between the two characters reaches a whole new level of thrill.
I'm not going to finish the video. Not because it wasn't good or anything, but because I already switched over and bought the book. XD I'll be back though
1. Love the book 2. Love this video 3. just found ur channel and cant help to laugh how its literally my surename sounding all cute It took me way too long to realize it originates from the word "page"
quick question, have you heard of any of these titles? the Maradonia books , Handbook for Mortals , Everneath , Empress Theresa , Org's Odyssey: A Tale Of Post-human Earth or Atlanta Nights By Travis Tea . maybe you could try to make an animated summary of any of these titles if you are able to get your hands on them?
this is funny but got a couple of things wrong and characterised cardan a little bit, he's not that smug after the briar killings, he's pretty nervous about being found out that he likes Jude. And is pretty significant plot that Cardan does not want to be king and that by crowning him, she breaks the small glimmer of friendship (or armistice) they'd forged and betrays him. I get its a quick summary but with little details like that left out it feels like we read different books ^^;
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE. I lowey wanna see Eva and Justin's story because you know...I know out tyna protect you kids but why burn someone's body ALIVE ...also I need more on Vivi and Heather like I know they have a short story but still I need more, same with Nicasia. Also I started reading The Modern Faerie tales serie by Holly Black (Kaye's story) I personally find it way more interesting.
What? Roiben chilling with his pixie friend Kaye? :D I can't. She's like the protagonist of the first book from this fae world and boy, I don't think that's what friendship looks like. Anyway... I read Tithe when I was still a kid and I remember it to this day because it was soo different from other fantasy books I read before. Especially since it was the first book that featured fairies, years before fae romance became a thing, and the heroine wasn't exactly a cutesy naive girl, but kinda a mess? And the fairies were baaad. Yeah, a memorable read.
Please Please please, You're gonna HAVE to do the rest of the Folk of the air series since the following books is where stuff starts to get good and where the romance is building to feed the starving viewers 😂
Which book would you love to see me animate next??

So the cruel prince... is a bully?... I dont usually read romantasy but i king of had some expecattions because of how everyone hyped this book. But a bully?! Seriously??
4:42 Taryn is just a chill guy
(Pls tell me y’all know the meme😭)
No she's not. She's literally one of the most disliked characters, selfish and what not.
I love this. It was interesting, I tired reading the book but it was too long. I would to see Caraval and OUBH series.❤
Feels like a TheCookieRhino rip-off? I'm sorry if this comes off as mean. It feels like the creator didn't really care about the book and made this for views? There's some quality about the video that seems forced....
I agree! I've been nosing all morning and they def aren't affiliated. Plus their first video was of the book thecookierhino announced doing next :(
I truly love this book trilogy. Its very good.
I''m sorry, did you guys just rip off TheCookieRhino?
I think I just found my new favorite book channel!!!
Animate the whole series i love how you did this
I highly recommend the Julie Kagawa books (specifically the Iron Fae series).
its sooo good - i wish there was more enimies to lovers books
XD
I'll be back though
SO CRISP AND GREAT ANIMATION!!
I really love this🙆

Cant wait for part 2❤❤❤
quick question, have you heard of any of these titles? the Maradonia books , Handbook for Mortals , Everneath , Empress Theresa , Org's Odyssey: A Tale Of Post-human Earth or Atlanta Nights By Travis Tea . maybe you could try to make an animated summary of any of these titles if you are able to get your hands on them?
Omg you should do the Zodiac Academy series. OR The Red Queen Series that would be so fun to see!
Can you do caraval ? Cause I honestly didn’t understand the plot
this is funny but got a couple of things wrong and characterised cardan a little bit, he's not that smug after the briar killings, he's pretty nervous about being found out that he likes Jude. And is pretty significant plot that Cardan does not want to be king and that by crowning him, she breaks the small glimmer of friendship (or armistice) they'd forged and betrays him.
I get its a quick summary but with little details like that left out it feels like we read different books ^^;
We need the other books in the series !! The Wicked King and Queen of Nothing !!♥♥
This is amazing pure perfection 😂🫶🏻✨
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE. I lowey wanna see Eva and Justin's story because you know...I know out tyna protect you kids but why burn someone's body ALIVE ...also I need more on Vivi and Heather like I know they have a short story but still I need more, same with Nicasia. Also I started reading The Modern Faerie tales serie by Holly Black (Kaye's story) I personally find it way more interesting.
Hey sis can you do for wicked king book as well. Your narration and animation i really enjoy it...
☺❤
I love these videos keep them coming
Pls do King of Wrath🙏🏾
I'm obsessed with this book
