I think what really soured her reputation from the whole Elvira thing is she went out of her way to file the lawsuit and then she didn’t even show up for any of the court dates.
However, I’m not going to crap all over her because Cassandra Peterson herself holds no grudges about it and does give thanks to her for paving the way.

Lately my favorite brunette icon has been Sophia Loren such a crazy life she has lived so far my favorite story when she got on her first movie as an extra as a Roman citizen quo vadis and her mother worked with mgm before I think and she told Sophia to answer everything in English no matter what and he’d be like what’s your name where are you from have you don’t movies before and Sophia loren said “yes 😃” to every single question and it made the dude laugh so hard he had to have her on lmao

girl, this is a look! I am loving your eye makeup today, you look so different but also amazing! The complete wig and the reveal was a rival. it was a perfect recreation! I do have a fun story for you about vampira. There was a film called " The Vampire Happening" The actress in that film plays a porn actress who goes home to her ancestral castle to claim it before selling it. Meanwhile she decides to open the tomb of her ancestor Baroness Claramande Titani ( totally a drag name lol) The same actress plays the vampire ancestor but her entire look is no doubt Vampira. I recommend that film It's funny not to be taken seriously and if you remember Sharon Tate in " Great vampire hunters" The guy who plays Dracula in that film Plays Dracula again only he's a Playboy version of the Vampire count and the scenes with him are a trip.

A point of clarification: KHJ-TV did not approach then 59-year-old Maila Nurmi to reprise the role of Vampira. The proposal was always for the role of Vampira to be recast with a younger actor. The desire of Nurmi for Lola Falana to be cast in the role was at odds with the vision of program director Walter Baker, who intended to cast a doppelgänger of Nurmi, so that the vampire character would appear to not have aged in 27 years. Cassandra Peterson was initially cast as the new Vampira. When Nurmi withdrew from the project the day filming was to begin, Peterson reimagined the character as a witch, and portrayed her as a Goth version of the Valley Girl she originated in The Groundlings. Personal friend and frequent collaborator Robert Redding redesigned her costume, hairstyle, and make-up; and Peterson drew the name "Elvira" out of a hat of submissions from the crew on set. The contention of Nurmi was that because Peterson was initially cast as Vampira, that Elvira was simply Vampira by a different name. She did not recognize that the character was legally distinct from Vampira despite the circumstances of her origin. Nurmi believed that by withdrawing the day of filming that she could force KHJ-TV to accede to her demands. She miscalculated, and it backfired.
Another point of clarification: Nurmi was not just the inspiration for Maleficent, she was the rotoscope model for the character. This information was discovered in her diary, and was confirmed by a Disney archivist in 2014.
