Triggers are great for recording kicks. Of course it's 'better' if you don't use them so you have a more human performance, but they're a great tool for making mixing drums easier.
This is not 300bpm, or a festival... Actually the logical speed threshold before triggers are necessary is 215bpm on a double pedal if the bass drum is tuned low. If playing on 2 kicks, it's extended to about 230bpm.
Impressive playing. Interesting that you prefer to hear it in 8th note divisions at 230bpm rather than 16th note divisions at 115bpm. I think it helps the counting and the groove so much if you get locked in to 4/4 at 115...
You played it good but mixed with the kick being quiet and not in the mix well and the trashcan lid of a china, it becomes a mess. The snare drum ringing like a bell and being more prominent in the mix than the kick doesnt help matters either.
Fuck I didn't know that this comments section is where all the professional audio engineers hang out :/ Relax doods, he could just start using plastic or wood beaters and everything would be fine. No matter how you process them, the beaters that come with the Demon Drive sound like two purses attached to metal sticks. Great lesson btw! I'd just suggest to start using Remo Falaam slams and Iron Cobra beaters or if you're more old school, those red wooden Danmar beaters give max attack
Damn, I thought guitar comments were harsh. I don't see 15 damn microphones or the proper acoustic treatment so maybe that's just the best he could do for a UA-cam tutorial. Thanks for the lesson, I really wanted to learn that bass pattern 👍
Watch the live drum cam of Bleed. Thomas doesn't appear to be playing defined/written ghost notes, and if he is, they are inaudible. Real bad mix here. The highlight of this song is the Hertas on the kick, and you can't even hear them here.
Very awesome but I feel Bleed has been done to death. There are many more interesting Meshuggah grooves that I’d rather see taught. I suppose Bleed is a bit click baity these days
Great video, its just sad that the sound balance was quite off. It was like listening on that glorious China of yours, while your neighbors knocking on the walls and ceiling ...
@@KeeperOfPoops what are you on about? The ghost notes on the snare which are practically inaudible in the song are louder than the kick drum which is what the song is known for
You should work on getting those ghost notes even quieter, the ringing drowns out the kick completely
DrumboiBanne the snare is mixed shittily
@@wokeupdead3428 snare needs some damping.
The kick needs some type of attack. Change the beaters lol
Another good thing to practice is getting the mix to sound good
Stephen keddy 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
You need a better mix. Get some triggers or something because nobody can hear the kick and your ghost notes need to be quieter as well
Triggers are for black metal and losers

@@BeatsAndMeats I'd like to see you play a festival with 300bpm double kicks and expect anyone to hear your bass drum.

@@BeatsAndMeats Alright man. You clearly know more than I do about everything to do with sound.
Everyone’s a critic, keep up the great work, man!
This is a good lesson and while it’s hard to hear the bass the snare sounds really good

Ridiculously impressive. This channel is one of the greatest for drumming and gear!

Another good groove from meshuggah is the ending polyrythym of new millennium cyanide christ. An amazing groove
It's not a polyrhythm just a riff
I guess there’s a reason why only Haake can play it right.
Waiting on y'alls bleed cover
Lol I hated on the mix. Not gonna lie. But I agree with you cheers m8
Haake is impossible to copy, and this is still better than I ever can learn. Good job!
The ghost notes are way too loud, the base drum sounds all messy when you do so, otherwise technique is correct and it’s a great lesson.

Did you just call a herta a Billy cobham?? Hahahahahaha
Let me tell you. This is my groove
He has a Lars ulrich drum set up
If you want to learn this look at Troy Wrights video... cleaner and easier to understand
wow that sounded nothing like bleed
At 1:35 it does
are you dumb?! YES IT FUCKING DOES! It sounds exactly like bleed
it doesn't Fucking sounds like bleed
GRoOVE OF DA CENTRE
What snare is that?
I would recommend you watch a tutorial on UA-cam.
man, this song..so damn frustrating to learn
Just practice man! Practice all day and the work will paid off
what size is that china?
Why use a meinl China if you don’t even sell meinl?!
You mean *"Hertas"* right? 😅

I stopped watching when he said "schent" instead of djent.
Nah he said Djent, kinda in a bougie way but he said Djent
Calling Meshuggah djent is when I stopped.
@@vahrzawofficialtracks they are Djent, they are the reason Djent exists
Darkbehemoth21 No way. Back in the 90s they were called progressive death metal. It’s insulting to call them djent.
@@vahrzawofficialtracks well Djent is a Combination of Progressive or Experimental Metal styles and Meshuggah's Guitar tone and Instrumentation
wuahh!!!! Bass drum is Very Good
Umeå, Västerbotten, Sweden 🤘🙂🤘
First
Edit: love these as always
The kick pattern is good but the ghost notes need work
Are you sure your playing the bass drum?
Try sacrifice by motörhead
Great video, its just sad that the sound balance was quite off.

mix is bad. ghost notes too loud. snare is too pingy. hertas arent even.
Could at least I don't know, mic the bass drum ???
Wrong , the feet do a double stroke with the right foot
First second in I though ur neck was the face and beard your head hair 🤣🤣🤣🤣.. I need sleep
Sound mix is trash guys. Come on.
i don't think it is
Few mistakes but this song is not easy by any means nice try !
Ism
Jjjjjjent.
this mix is terrible
Your mispronounced his last name and the word Djent..its pronounced Hock and Jent
wait, the second progression is six notes...
this guy is wrong :p
God damn man. That mix is soooo bad. All you hear is your right foot good video tho. Cheers
no it isn't, it's soooo good

Wtf
practise practice practise untill you feel comfortable, after one or two year post the video again.....toooooo sloooopy
That bass sounds like a wet cardboard box
Awful sound
shut up! it's awesome sound
Sorry but it is far from Haake
no it isn't. it's close to haake
