Even if you don't caravan (and I do) or even own another model, the film quality is some of the best around.
The videos are always entertaining and never 'fail' :-)

Fab video, looks incredible in the frost. You should get a foot hot water bottle! I got one for working from home as my feet get sooooo cold!

I noted that you said that the inbuilt heater system was noisy to maintain a comfortable internal temp. After 12 yrs of winter caravaning in Aberdeenshire. We found using a free standing 2 kw electrical heater, kept outside minus temperatures at bay.

That’s a really good tip. Thanks. Maybe an electrical oil radiator🤔. Thanks again I’d not thought of that as an option.

Thats probably why I had the site all to myself for the vast majority of the time! It’s amazing what a modern caravan is capable of.

Always a tidy site. Always a tidy caravan. What I really like is that you don't carry all kinds of unnecessary items as so many do. I am glad to hear that your wife recovered quickly. Even though most people recover quickly from Covid-19 by now, there still remains an element of worry about how it will affect one. Once we've lived with this illness for a while longer, that will likely disappear. Why not put a 'heated carpet' (a small mat really, as designed for under desks) on the floor to keep your feet warm? I have no idea whether they sell them in the UK however, but here in Japan you can get them anywhere. If you do a search on the web to see one, then look for 'hot carpet' (ホットカーペット).

Thanks Andrew. I do go minimal as I prefer a camping experience. You right about Covid but with an ageing family and a large event planned this year we didn’t want to take any risks. Heated carpets are a great idea however I’ll get a good pair of hut slippers to keep things simple.

Thank you so much for sharing Nick. What a great vLog of your spontaneous adventure. Beautiful captures of Plas Farm and the surrounding areas. Very interesting for our base camper guests too.

Excellent video. That site's only about 30 minutes away from where I live. We looked at it once - my parents site their van on another site in Betws-yn-Rhos. Would love to hear more about how the caravan coped in that temperature in a little more detail - might inspire more to use their 'vans in 'every' weather. Heating settings etc / internal temps and so on. Really nice to have found your content, love Basecamps, love the way you use yours! I really nice to have another person from North (East I guess) Wales into caravanning!

Thanks Andrew. I am from North East Wales👏 good guess. Not far from the village. The caravan copes very well in cold winter weather. Very warm and cosy albeit the blown air heating system can be noisy on higher settings. Hot water on tap no issues. We were warm and cosy on this trip however it did get cold at night so warm bedding is essential. The temps got down to -7 outside and that was its comfort limit for me. Cold feet all the time. The floor was always cold as there are vents under the bench seats.

When it’s raining and you’ve got a soaking wet cocker spaniel plus wet walking gear…. They are essential. In nice sunny extended weather we go without.

I use my iPhone 12 mini for the vast majority of the content with supporting clips captured on a DJI Mavic 2 Drone and Sony ZV1 camera. I record all of the natural audio and voice overs separately on a Zoom H2N audio recorder. I need to be portable and lightweight so this set up works for me.

I must say, you inspire me and others with your videos.
It makes me want to go and buy a 2023 BC2. Can't make my mind up. I like the look of BC. Not just another white box. 4 berth ideally, in case my teenage daughter wants to stay over. Do I chance it with 2 berth. I'm looking at alternatives 4 berth with BC style. BC3 or 4 hmm, single bunks wouldn't be ideal. Also, I love VW T6 Acapulco blue DSG kombi, and I'm looking at £30k part exchanging my Renault. Or BC2, which my Renault will easily tow. BC2 is more practical than the T6 camper. I'm just curious as to how far you will go with your current BC2. Is there any chance of upgrading to 4 berth or something else? You're certainly living the dream. What about Europe?

Hi Scott. Interesting dilemma. I’d also love a VW camper and have wanted one for years. I have rented a couple of them to try them out. One day I will own one and use it as my tow vehicle. For ease and convenience they are brilliant but for overall comfort the BC can’t be beaten as a camper. A Basecamp is a hotel suite on wheels! The compromise is set up time. If it’s your going to use the BC mainly without your daughter the BC2 is a better choice. There are awnings which have bedrooms such as the Vango RVA 1. From my experience i wouldn’t go for the BC3. One of the joys of the BC is the comfy bench seats with the views from the infinity window. If you are really interested in getting one look at the used market. We bought our second hand and saved an absolute fortune.

I’m using the Fenix 5S Plus. Been tempted by the Fenix 6 and love the look of the new Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar Titanium. However for hiking the 5 does the job perfectly so I’m resisting an unnecessary upgrade🤔
