The Enduro has 64 MB of memory, WAY LESS than the 32 GB on the fenix. Garmin probably opted for less memory so they could fit a bigger battery. If that's the case, this explains why there's no maps or music. Also, to compare apples to apples, you need to compare the fenix 6 pro solar to the Enduro. At that level, you are at the same price. With the Enduro you drop maps and music, but get way more battery. If i need maps, I'll use my phone. Same for music. I was just about to order the 6 pro solar when this was announced, now Enduro is the way to go.
That's a good catch, thanks for calling out the difference in memory. That's a vast difference, but makes sense since you wouldn't need the storage for maps, music, etc on the Enduro. I must have glanced quickly and thought they were both GB. I definitely think there is a market for the Enduro otherwise it would be silly for Garmin to make it. I'm sure they do plenty of market research before releasing an expensive watch like this. I understand not all features are apples to apples, but some are. For instance, GPS mode battery life. With full solar power the Enduro gets an additional 20 hrs or life, which I think is significant, but not for the difference in price. That all depends on what type of activities you are doing though. I personally am an aspiring ultra runner who spends a lot of time on my feet. Battery life on the 6X for me is enough to get me through any training run or 100 mile race pretty easily. In regular watch mode I can get about 19 days of battery life. On the other hand, if you're someone who wants to do a through hike, maybe the Enduro is best for you. Though small, there is undoubtedly a market for the Enduro. I really think it just comes down to preference. Thanks for your thoughts. I am curious what sways you towards the Enduro and in which situations you see yourself using it?
@@runslowtorunfast6528 I’m just mountain biking, hiking, and backpacking. No ultra long stuff. But for the same price, I’d give up maps and music in favor of not having to charge it as often.
Battery life for me is the most important thing in smartwatchs but unfortunately i can't buy Enduro for $800 and see Garmin release Fenix 7 tomorrow. I think buying any flagship Garmin device right now is mistake
@@enigmajourney6367 Enduro definitely does have better battery life, but it’s $800. You can get a Coros Apex for $300 and still get a lot of great features and 25+ hours of battery life in GPS mode.
Great video, very honest and objective. I have a 5X, I may upgrade to a 6X pro. Also, the features you mentioned trail vo2 and rest function should be an update according to Garmin. Subbed👍🏿
Hi! Actualy, I don't trust solar battery system at all. In small device so complicated charging system? May be on the future? Where I live, sunny days doesn't too much.
I've used a Casio Pro Trek with solar charging for at least 10 years and I live in Norway with a lot of bad weather. Mine isn't a smart watch and cant be charged except for by light. No problems so far, but the Garmin devices are much more complicated and need to integrate solar charging with the standard charging as solar currently isn't enough for smart watches, but it can add stretch the time between chargings. Seems quite useful and cant see why it shouldn't work. I just "found" the Endura and it seemed like a really interesting option being able to going indefinitely on solar when the advanced functions was turned off. Unfortunately no maps (or music) which seem like a weird omission on the watch with the longest battery life. And thanks for the video! Good comparison!
Yep. I actually downloaded the update today so have both and am looking forward to using the UltraRun setting for my 55k next weekend. I tried to mention that these were features introduced with the Enduro. In the video description I do note that these features would be coming to the Fenix line. Again, I’m pumped for the UltraRun setting. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
I own a Fenix 6X Sapphire and I can tell that for majority of people this watch is overkill. I don't see a reason one would prefer the Enduro over Fenix 6X Sapphire or any other model from Fenix 6 Series line.
Yeah, I think the main crowd will be the early adopters who love new tech (solar) or those that truly need, or at least feel they need, the insane amount of battery life.
I can think of a few. Those that do the 48 hour enduro runs or rides are one example. I am considering it because I go camping for a week at a time and would love that this watch would potentially last the full week with activities and not need a charge. Same when I go on the road for work and wouldn't need a charger for a week including my morning runs. I don't use maps or music but I do use Pay and this has that. Plus, comparing apples to apples it is less money. The 6x Pro Solar starts at $949. The day to day battery life is dramatically longer going from 21 days to 50. I usually get 6 or 7 out of my 6x, so if I can double that to 12-14 I will be thrilled including workouts.
If you’re just looking for a watch that can last a week with activities, the 6x can do that. I have done it before. It can go 60 hrs in gps mode and 21 days smart watch. This is pretty true in actuality. When I travel for work, I don’t bring a charger. But, it’s still true that you’ll get more with solar, a given. If you’re looking for feature rich, then the Fenix line is best (IMO). I think there is a market for the Enduro, too.
Hi Ronnie - Thanks for the comment. I stand corrected as the Fenix 6 is 1.3” and 6s is 1.2”. Appreciate you pointing that out. According to the Garmin website the Enduro case only on the Steel or standard version is 66g and the titanium (extra $100) is 52g, again case only.
I love my Fenix 6X Sapphire. Love the Maps and Music!!
Really nice video, pushed it to 1.5x to get through it faster but I love how detailed it all was. Thanks again! Love the balanced view
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment.

If you’re looking for battery power for the buck Coros hands down is the place to look.

I also realized that I said 10 data screens on the Fenix 6X, when it is actually 8 (maximum). Same set up on the Enduro, as well.
do you think they will add firmware update for maps in the future?
No, I don’t. As noted in the comments the storage is actually 64 MEGs, not gigs, so I’m not sure that’s enough to support maps.
