- This is some Motocross highlights of The Day The 3 Fastest Riders In The World Squared Off. In 2017 the MXGP series came to the USA to race at the WW Ranch Motocross Park in Florida. It fell on the weekend after the last Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series so American riders had a chance to race the best riders in the rest of the world. Eli Tomac would sign up to challenge Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings. These 3 riders were the 3 fastest riders in the world at the time and it was awesome to see the stars align to settle the score, at least on this day. It was a very interesting day which still left us with a few questions, but it answered a lot of questions at the same time. What do you guys think about this race and its outcome? What is not talked or shown by the media is Jeffrey herling lost it around a corner about the 4th lap from last position to beat the fastest lap record and kept breaking the fastest lap record throughout the race to 1st place on the second race in Florida and accomplished that no one else could to this day!! Komac was not happy winning the serious that the best rider Herling went across the checkered flag.

The fact that PAULIN took a MASSIVE CRASH, and RACED THE 2nd race? WOW>.. MUCH RESPECT.
Herlings is the best rider to grace the sport, end of. The guy spun around on his motorbike on a race, fell all the way to last, then came back to overtake everyone for the win. Tomac was in that race and lost to Herling.
Wasn't that the race where Tomac was riding easy just to secure the championship?

@@88balloonsonthewall70 he wasn't in the second moto but in the first moto he gave it his all, he could not keep up and made a mistake. he was forced to take it easy. FORCED for Christ sake, and lets not talk about the fact that Jeffrey Herlings was on a completely different bike had 1 day of practise on the bike and raced on a new track with jet lag.
The comparison of Tomac to Herlings absolutely cracks me up. THE FASTEST RIDERS ON THE PLANET ARE IN EUROPE! Remember the last 10ys of nations races? Lmao or the Ironman national where Herlings came from last to first? I'm a proud American just keeping it real.

I'm from Europe, I'm a Tomac fan as far as Supercross goes. But Jeffrey Herlings is the fastest dude on a dirt bike in the world. The best 4-5 in the US circuit (Tomac, Sexton, Webb, Roczen...) could race 1-2 season of MXGP and maybe battle with the top 4-5 riders from Europe (Gajser, Febvre, Prado, Seewer,...) but they wouldn't stand a chance to beat an injured free Jeffrey Herlings

Depends. He rides burnt out hard pack faster than anyone. Also he used to be known for pushing too hard and crashing but slowed down to get 3 , 450, world titles. Soon to be 4.

I was at this race! I got to stand in the box behind the start which is a cool feature MXGP does that AMA races don't have...nothing like 40 450 bikes revving for the start!
Tomac. Only a champion because he races in a country where the best riders do not usually race. But at least he has learnt a little class since he got his ass whooped. Imagine having a guy come from LAST. In a country he hasn’t race in on a track that was new to him, and he whooped the “champions” ass. Some champ!
he wasn't trying to loose the championship and he owns it when he gets beat. There's also always a give and take when it comes to raw speed. Both Stewart and Herlings spend a lot of time hurt, whereas Tomac after 2015, learned to only go fast in bursts to lessen the risk of injury. Tomac is one of most hard working modest guys ever to grace the sport... never makes excuses and always gives credit where it's due. Class act all the around

You can't honestly think that means anything. Do you just completely diregard the circumstances in which those races took place, or the million other variables that affect race outcomes that have nothing to do with who is better than who? Hell, even Herlings himself said on Gypsy that none of those races mattered because they weren't racing against each other for a title, just meaningless off-series races for one or the other.

You have to actually be in it to be the best. Peak pace is not a measure of ability, consistent pace is.

I feel incredibly lucky to be able to watch such warriors at the top of their careers. As an American I am heavily Tomac biased, as his Supercross/outdoor motocross combo makes him a lethal combo. He just tied the GOAT in Supercross wins all time in fact. However, I absolutely love Herrlings' awesome speed and willingness to do battle anywhere in any conditions (except Supercross.) And of course Cairoli is pure heart and soul and also one of the all time greats.
I was at that race, first time I ever bought an umbrella with no rain in sight..it was Hot that day in Jacksonville....

In a motocross race one on one, I would put my money on Herlings. In a motocross series I would put my money on the newly formed consistency of Tomac.
Depends on the track too, if its a sand track then herlings will be on his top form. I watched Tom Vialle on sand and could see he rides like herling.. JH is a beast full stop
in 2018 mxgp world championship herlings won 17/ 19 races against cairoli. that's incredible.
And races occur one at a time, each time Herling as you say, comes out on top.
Tomac is a much faster rider today then just a couple years ago as well as his consistency.

Gajser is fkin fast rider too, he can defeat each US riders but he failed (a lot) in the past because he was impatient and heedless sometimes. Nowadays he is especially fast.

Your "World Championship" is a European Championship. Belgium has the most Championships, by far, with a population of 11 million people. The U.S. population is Russia, U.K., France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, and others combined. Where are all of the Chinese and Indian top riders? You know, two Countries with over 3 Billion people. The FIM has a sanctioned series in China. India has a Motocross Series. Where are they in your European, I mean "World" Championship Series?

Miss Villopoto. Legit haven't felt the same excitement since he left. He just had an edge of your seat feeling to his riding. Reminded me of Casey Stoner drifting corners.

Europeans only have to train for 1 discipline. Motocross. Americans have to train for moto and supercross. And theres alot more money in supercross. Europeans get smoked anytime the try to race supercross. Theres context.

*TOMAC* is good at motocross & supercross while Herlings and Cairolli are only good at motocross.
Because they don't do supercross in Europe. Just mainly outdoors. The outdoors is for the people that are into dirtbikes and supercross are for people that think they are into dirtbikes.

Yes Mxgp may be a superior competition to AMA but that doesn’t make Herlings the better rider.
@@jimmydean4444 if you think that about supercross then you know nothing about it. It’s more technical and requires more precision than outdoor racing. In motocross you can hit jumps at fast speeds and blaze through corners but in supercross you have to hit everything just right. The jumps are peaked and everything is precise. Motocross is more physically demanding with 30 minute motos and the summer heat while supercross is more technical and still demanding in its own way
