James Stewart 125 days looked like he was at local race not a national. His speed difference was unreal.
100%
totally agree he did things on that 125 that were unbelievable, I remeber when he let Reed catch and pass him in an outdoor race just to pass him back
@@studboy9244that was at Unadilla
For real especially on the 125 so fun to watch mind blowing how much he charged
Big RC guy, feared Bubba coming up. Seeing him run times on the 125 competitive with the 250, crazy
James Stewart on a 125!! He was on another level. Doing quads in Supercross the 250’s wouldn’t do
James was amazing to watch because you could SEE his racing intensity.
Jeremy McGrath on supercross. Carmichael on Motocross. And James Stewart wins the medal for all around craziest bastard who ever walked the planet earth because he was faster than both of them. He was so fast he'd either crash or win.
In the US:
65s RC
85s John Kitsch
125s James Stewart
250s Rick Johnson (outdoors)
Jeremy McGrath (supercross)
500s Danny Magoo Chandler
danny "magoo" chandler without a doubt, when people like roger decoster were worried that he was going too fast and needed him to slow down a bit says a lot, i can guarentee that has never happened or been talked about of any other rider in history.
I’ll have to look him up some more
If Magoo could stay up he was unbeatable 👍 talk about someone who rode on the edge 😲
Thanks for bringing up Danny. I would have if you didn’t. That holeshot at mxdn was epic.
Agree there is some great video documentation of Magoo
Stewart was told his whole career to slow down. Had he slowed down he would easily have more wins and championships than anybody.
I know there’s lots of guys to remember but Jeramy mc was wicked rider
Stew, Torteli, RC, MC, Lusk. All were demons on the 2-strokes.
Plus Mcgrath, Emig, Bradshaw, Pichon and Everts
@@sakenamam3083 People seem to forget the likes of Hannah and Rick Johnson as well.
RJ was almost unbeatable in the world in his heydey, cut very short by a bad wrist injury.
@@barbarasimons3762 I don’t forget them. I just grew up in the 90s. I’ve watch the older guys like Marty Smith, Jeff Smith in the 60s, DeCoster. How about Lance Moorwood? Larry Brooks? Gary Jones? Animals on 2-Strokes
Pastrana, RC and JS we're all so entertaining in the 125 class, incredible riders
👌🏻
Bubba on KX125 and RC on CR250R
Massimo from Italy .Thanks for posting this video! I don't know who was the fastest but in any case they were all great drivers! Long life for two stroke !
McGrath is the KING and the best ever! But Stewart was the fastest to ever ride a motorcycle! And Ricky was close behind Stewart!
The question was about motocross, sorry, McGrath wasn’t shit in Moto
@@lugnutlarry1764 McGrath didn't care about motocross and the 1 year he did he won outdoors .....he is the best ever!!!!
I think if Bob Hannah was in his prime on a modern bike he would be very hard to beat they didn't call him the "Hurricane" for no reason....
Or Broc Glover
@Johnny Rebellion I'd even mention Rick Johnson, before the wrist surgeries.
I liked all those guys no matter what color they rode. Lackey had some good years too.
Was it Bale in the European series in that time frame? I'm old and forget.
Have to go with Jeremy McGrath (M.C.) "The King". 72 wins and 7 championships in AMA Supercross. Fastest 2 stroker ever!!
Great edit ; and thanks for including Tortelli as I also totally think he deserves to be up there, he almost invented the beast mode lol :)
Tortelli is the only man that could beat RC and Everts in there prime👌🏻
Ricky Carmichael!!!!. How can anyone even say different. Who is called the goat, and has won more races by a landslide on a 250. Ricky Carmichael!! Anyone who says different needs to get their head out of their ass!!!!!
@@wd840mxhighlights KDub did it as well a few times when he was on the RM250 and I think we should give credit to Reynard also on the 125. He went around the OUTSIDE of RC at Unadilla in 1998 and dropped him.
Kudos on this vid by the way, all of your stuff is awesome but this thing is next level! I have watched it like 10 times... 👍
@@chadclemen i appreciate that man, more to come!
I think you should have included the 500 class when you think of the massive power , vibration etc too keep these bikes in check. great video video though 👍
ill do a separate 500 vid at some point and much appreciated
Stewart on a 125 literally looked like he was from another planet, he looked like a pro rider decided to race C class, the dude was unreal, and hot take, but I honestly think in all of sports history, there have been very few single athletes that have been THAT far above their competition.
Tons of great footage all in one video 🥇🚲 Thanks Wd840
Much appreciated🤙🏻
No one dominated like Hannah in his prime. I was at the Anaheim Supercross one year, and Hannah lapped every rider in the main event!
Saw that in the Houston Astrodome. It was crazy.
Seb Tortelli in his prime on the GP circuit was the fastest man on the planet .. he even made Stefan cry
Ricky Carmichael had him covered. Everts even said RC was the fastest guy he ever saw ride a dirtbike
@@rediron44 yes covered in the US but Seb on the GP circuit was something else
diesel di you remember glen helen 1999?tortelli was amazing
@mikewood4081 and he still wasn't as fast as Ricky Carmichael. Ricky beat him every time. Stew only won 3 overalls against RC ever. Even when RC was retired and running a farewell tour, RC beat him for all 6 over alls
@@donbrashsux Seb looked faster on the GP tracks, because he was faster than those guys, not so much in the USA. Guys were faster
I guess Stefan Everts as 10x mx world champ in recent 2stroke history would count for me as up there!
Hard to put him in the same video as Tortelli when it comes to speed. No doubt he’s an all time great.
Excellent video my man! Thank you!
No problem!🤙🏻
Thank You for the entertainment, your Idea of work ,many Regards Craig
much appreciated man, if you have any video suggestions im all ears
Definitely McGrath because he was consistent. James put it all on the line and was a lot of fun to watch!
RC,Tortellini,Stewart, Magoo
Gotta go with JS on a 125, many riders were the fastest for a time but couldn’t maintain the consistency of guys like RC on 250, Travis's comes to mind as incredible rider who was very fast but inconsistent. Windham when he was “on” was the one best riders ever.
Yep Windham’s technique was flawless and what most riders want to ride like
stew was the fastest dude to go brap brap on a 125 without question
Stewert, Pastrana, Carmichael, and that era never had the competition like Wardy, Johnson, Lechien, Omara, Bailey, Glover, Hannah, Bell, Cooper, and that era! I don't think the Carmichael era would have had the success that they had, if they had to race with Wardy and Johnson. The Wardy era was way tougher! Especially in Supercross! There were a lot of dirty riders back then. The Wardy era laid the blueprint for the Carmichael era! Here's my top 5 in Supercross! Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, James Stewert, Jeremy Mcgrath, Ricky Carmichael. Outdoors top 5. Stefan Everts, Jeffery Herlings, Bob Hannah, Eric Geboers, James Stewert. I would have loved to see all these riders in their primes race together on identical machinery, and the wettest, muddiest, bumpiest, toughest track in the World. Only to see Bob Hannah come out victorious!
Ricky Johnson also Reed took it to RC many times prior, RC went to baker and trained harder and harder .Also indoors MC . Stewart was also proberbly faster but yeah. Its like anything. All years in anything would have to combine for the earlier riders to be joined at their time in history ?
Fastest 125 US riders for me is between Mark Barnett and Jonny O, 250 would be Bob Hannah or Rick Johnson, watched a lot of GPs too and Eric Geboers and JMB were a bit special
Just been thinking how good the 125 US outdoors nationals used to be, that kinda racing has just gone, GPs are a shadow of times gone by too, shame as the 2st is still great to hear too and I miss it
Awesome guys, but how do we compare say Barnett or the O Show to James Stewart.
How would Tomac, Herlings or Villapoto perform on a 2stroke.
Amazing video 👏
Golden Era ❤🏆
Ron Lechien
I seen Carmichael at Steel City sfter he had already locked up the 250 title jump on a 125 & lap everyone except 2nd & 3rd place. He was 3 seconds a lap faster than any on a 250 that day
Bubba 125, Tortelli 250.
Bob Hurricane 💨🌊Hannah
would love to see what he could do in his prime on a modern 2 stroke
best video on yt!!all legends here
🤙🏻
Very cool 😎 💨💨💨
Tortelli is the only rider who beat both Everts and RC4 in their primes. Besides he won MXoN race 125/500 on 125 bike.
And I would delete Pastrama from the list and add Michael Pichon who numerous times beat on 250 2t Everts who was on 450 4t
Pichon was landlubbers no doubt
Magoo Chandler!
R.I.P.
1.Ronnie Mac 2. Jimmy Decotis 3. Carson Brown
I’d say Bubba. RC was fast too & ended up with the most titles but Stew would go that extra few percent, do something incredible, & it would end up checkers or wreckers
I wish all these racers would come back for a champions race…someone make it happen
YES
James undoubtably. He made the lites class look like beginners and put it to carmichael who was on a 450.
69% of people forget Uncle RON... Ronnie Mac #69 rewriting the history books !!!
Jeremy MC Grath Supercross
RC Motocross
Mc is prescrub. Prime Stewart would lap MC on a sx track.
I saw him at Muddy Creek Tennessee on a suoermini , his lap times were 2 seconds off the 250 pro main which was the big bike them to put it in perspective , there were some fast guys there that ran supercross and nationals
125 Mark Barnett or James.
250 RC,James, JMB or Hannah
500 Roger DeCoster, Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, JMB
Stewart was fastest guy on that kx 125
Hands down. James
Sebastian Tortelli, mickeal Pichon Both beat Stefan Everts when Stefan was at his best but on the AMA side my vote would go to Jeff Emig
I saw Robbie Raynard run Ricky down and gap him and saw Stefan Roncada probably misspelled do the same to Bubba when they were smoking everyone
The racing was so much better with 2 strokes in my opinion
100%
@@wd840mxhighlights I hope they bring some 300's into the mix. Either way I think some riders would do better on a 250 than a 450. They need more options for riders. Hell I wouldn't mind seeing the Stark Varg out there when it comes out
@@cbogolo 300 2 strokes would be epic in its own class
@@wd840mxhighlights yeah but that would never fly because they are woke and don't like 2 strokes. Thats why they stopped improving 2 stroke motors in the late 90's and focused on 4 strokes because of environmental protection in California where all of the factory teams and American headquarters for the companies were and it limited them on r&d and time on the bike. You can watch the Kaplan America channel doing 2 stroke dyno runs against 4 strokes and see that they didn't move away because 4 strokes are superior
James on a 125 was like he was on a 500 and everyone else was on an 80
I just wanna know what the clutchs on js 125 were made out of
Stewart on 125's and Carmicharl on 250's
Jean-Michel Bayle
93/94 Henry lamson Hughes Reynard. Those guys were fast on 125s back then and many more…
James Stewart. I believe Ricky and even Chad that they made the switch to four strokes, cause if Stewart were to race the 250 two stroke healthy he would have been hard to beat.
Johnny O! Just look at the 1986 Des Nations.
Travis Pastrana best 2 stroke rider 👍🥰
Juan Pacheco
James Stewart hands down. that man changed the entire game, took racing to a whole nother level... which is why you see riders riding the way they do today. there's no comparison James Stewart was the fastest rider in the world on a two-stroke
Robby Marshall top 10’s in the Nationals on a KTM 250 SX in 2013… turned faster lap times than James on the factory Yz450f at Budds Creek. Last full 2 stroke team in AMA competition, 3 riders on identical bikes built in Virginia.
JS7 had a flow in his style that changed the sport! He made a 125cc look like a 250cc going big and always pinning it. The fastest man to ever ride supercross/motocross!
RC4 was just as good and his championships don't lie! But heads up with JS7, bubba rode circles around many guys! He could enter a race tomorrow against the new generation and I can see him finishing at worst top 5. He was always awesome to see ride.
Last to first in a couple races with pure determination and another level of skills!
Windham was unlucky to have the goat and Stewart as competitors but he played the long game and built a healthy bank account and a great following.
The FASTEST 2 stroke rider in history is James Stewart. The best 2 stroke rider in history is Ricky Carmichael. And there is a difference between the fastest and the best.
James was by far the faster rider ever 125 or 250. But my favorite rider to this day is pastrana his technique was absolutely flawless and is still what many rider couches teach today-perfect attack position standing more than anyone else. Even James rode flat footed. Ricky was just consistent but wasn’t the fastest and I didn’t like him for taking out pastrana in supercross many times because he couldn’t out-rite beat Travis to save his life. Plus pastranas bikes/ gear was the best looking of that time! Love pastrana broke my heart when he went full time to rally cars.
Pastrana never had a top 20 in 250 motocross. Carmichael two undefeated seasons 48-0. Pastrana faster LOL. Pastrana I think had 3 podiums in 250 SX, never won
Who has a perfect motocross season on a two stroke? I’d say they where the fastest
Danny Magoo chandler, Honda CR 500. Hands down.
I would have to give it to JS7!
James Stewart the end
2005 Rookie James on a 2 strokes VS a consecrated champion RC in a 4 strokes. JS7 THE REAL GOAT
J.M Bayle (I know, obscure by most standards but I know what I saw,) Rick Johnson and Ricky Carmichael
BUBBA WITHOUT A DOUBT!
Reed 03, 04
MC grath , Thorpe , R j, David bailey, Stanton
WHAT ABOUT MIKE BROWN PC 125…?
TP had a big lead on him in 2001 before TP crashed himself, Brownie was fast no doubt
I would say I'm most impressed by RC. JS7 is possibly the fastest racer I've ever seen, but he was also out of control. I guess I'd go RC and McGrath, then JS7. But really it's about the 250s for me. and JS7 was a little late to that party. I would love to see ET3, RV, RC, and JS7 all at their peaks on 250 2T or 450 4T tbh. At various times their MX speeds have just blown my mind.
RC. No one else is even close. Don't kid yourself.
What about Johnny O at the Des Nations on a CR 125?
James n Ricky
Hard to say but i can say the hardest charger was bob hannah. Yes the younger guys were fast but I think things were not as competitive the sport became to corporate. Privateers were an afterthought. Was Ricky C fast. Yes he was but he didnt have the competition outdoors especially. i dont think you can compare eras due to the change in the machinery. BAck when the bikes were not great and hard to handle you had more to contend with then just competition.
I saw Brownie at Glen Helen National in 2001. He was the fastest 125 rider I’d ever seen.
Ricky Carmichael. Easily. Fastest I've ever seen ride a dirtbike
Probably Stewart in SX but SX is hard to describe as fast. The indoor tracks really are too tight. Quick would be a better term to use. Stewart was quickest indoors. But outdoors is about speed and RC dominated like no one else. Let’s not forget he was the last rider to win an outdoor title on a two stroke and did so against mostly 4 strokes.
So, who was the faster rider on a two stroke? RC without a doubt.
Wrong….RC was one of the fastest but what he was the absolute best at was being the most CONSISTENT….Bubba was by far the fastest…even Carmichael himself said that…and SX wasn’t even Stewart’s specialty, he was otherworldly fast outdoors…
@@Landonmoto39 Then why did he lose so often to RC outdoors?
@@johncooper9746 can you not fucking read??? I said because of Carmichael’s CONSISTENCY….Bubba was faster, but RC was more CONSISTENT….Carmichael has admitted before that Stewart was the FASTEST….but Bubba crashed more and was therefore not as CONSISTENT….is that simple enough for you to understand?
*Ronnie Mac!* 💥🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Pastrana or stewart. They stood out the most
Showtime has the record. Proofs in the pudding.
JS7 anytime any day 👏👏👍👍
James was the fastest. RC was up there, Reed had his days where he was a beast, but James was scary fast. I don't think it was humanly possible to get more out of 125cc bike then what Bubba did.
Man I miss the 90s. Computers destroyed everything.
Danny Magoo Chandler
JS 2 SX championships RC 5. 150 total ama wins for Carmichael. 2 perfect outdoor seasons. I gotta go with RC.
Either Stewart or RC.
Motocross will always be 2stroke for me!!!
Check out vid of Villopoto on an 85. Not the fastest but if you like 2 strokes watch it.
Roger DeCoster.
Before the modern era… there was 5 time world champion Roger DeCoster sparking a generation of young kids to start dreaming about it…
McGrath. No contest
stewart. not even a debate
James was so much faster on a 125 a blind person could see it
Carmichael
