- Join us for another bank holiday Monday vlog as we hit up Wicksteed Park located in Kettering Northamptonshire UK
Wicksteed is the 5th oldest theme park in the UK opening way back in 1921, however it is technically the 2nd oldest after Blackgang Chine due to the fact that Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Bottons Pleasure Beach and Dreamland are classed as amusement parks
Wicksteed is home to 3 different sections of the park with rides, 3 coasters, play area for kids, miniature railway, huge grassed areas, lakes and the UK’s oldest Shoot the Chute water ride ! I did say that I was the oldest in the world however after doing some research the oldest is located in America
Vlog and on ride povs are all filmed in HD 1080p 60fps using a GoPro Hero 6 with official accessories

water chute ridden by myself many time at various ages with various members of my family over very many years, including a grandma, mother, brother and sisters, friends, and also my son..so a ride that has served many generations . The steps up to the water chute still being the original old style Wicksteed type as used on many Wicksteed playground slides. They still had a massive array of playground equipment of Wicksteed design including their more elaborate slides back in the late 60's and early 70's. As a child they were well worth experiencing even when you had a wristband for paid rides to use.

The Water shute ride that's the same concept of what the Devil Cascade was at Lightwater Valley and I can't believe they got rid of it was one of my favourite ride

The bird avery here was once a cinema 2000, the massive astro slide here is also an original feature once stood outside its now housed in a dedicated wood building, nr the dodgems.

Wicksteed Park is an amazing place and I even love the rides including Rocky River Falls and Roller Coaster

my home town originally before I moved, used to love wicksteed park.
the clown coaster is one of the best ride there but infact its the same layout as mllies perfume at selsey park

LOL, Did Tom have a limp walking back from the Pinfari ? What park were you at that had the hydro plane boats? I thought that was Wicksteed.....then again....I know nothing. Finally some Pov's from Wicksteed! My Coaster Crazy collection has grown. Great show again!
they did have some small single person type chute/hydro plane boats that went down slides and skimmed the water at one time in the past

The pinfari roller coasters I'm sure was at mnds in Scotland but in Scotland it was called space coaster

Actually a really nice park with loads to do, we are definitely going to go back again to do more, especially for the log flume and steam train that we didn’t get on

Charles Wicksteed will the stirring in his grave.
He created that park so the people of Kettering could go there for free. As usual, another cash-cow for KBC.
bob f it’s still free to enter the park minus the car park fee of course and rides are extra fee
To be fair, entry is still free - a real rarity as theme parks go. Also, Wicksteed Park remains run by a charitable trust, not KBC. Growing up poor, I can remember many great days out there as a kid, which didn't cost a fortune. In theory, you could take a whole family for a day out at Wickies (including a few rides and unlimited use of the playground, walks, picnic areas, etc.) for less than the cost of one ticket to Alton Towers.
