This video... It made me cry every time I watch it. It may just be about an abusive mother not feeding her kid, which is awful. But when that guy Dwight was kind enough to let Andrew eat what he didn't sell at the sandwich shop, that made my heart feel good about it. Whatever you do in life and I quote: "Believe that kindness is always the best policy even if people don't see it from you. That's beautiful. Watching an adult stick up for that boy brought me so much joy. Almost, as if it were me, getting that experience.
I imagined that one day someone would see what was happening and stick up for me. That I'd be saved. After 33 years of pain ( I was happy, then pain/fear started between the ages of 3-4,) I realized that no one would ever come. No one would point it out. Accountability would never be had.
Once that happened, I saved myself.
Thank you for making this comment. Made me feel less alone in the process of saving myself that I'm going thru right now too. I bawled at minute 15 seeing him as a teenager and realizing that all the self doubt I inherited is no longer mine to carry. I thought I needed someone to believe in me like that shop owner did.
