    IMPORTANT: Wielding a Finesse weapon in your main hand will let your unarmed strikes proc Sneak Attack. Flurry of Blows actually lets you proc it twice on the same turn. Only adds to this builds immense power.
    Thanks to @beanb4g for getting me to look into sneak attack damage with Unarmed Strikes! Never take this game's word for it. Always test!

      So if I have a dagger in my hand, when the option to do a sneak melee attack is on, and I use flurry of blow, I may apply sneak attack on Flurry, without having to press anything else?

      @@Ghostzapper I've been testing this on my current monk (7 lvls into Monk, 1 into Rouge for sneak attack). With just a normal dagger, is wielding a dagger for purpose of Sneak Attack on Flurry of Blows worth it when you miss out TB bonuses and Manifestation of Mind/Body/Soul for your now 2 main hand attacks? Seems to meet or beat the damage if you crit on the two Flurry of Blows, but otherwise 2 unarmed main attack hits seems better and no sneak attack at all.

      @@SuperCooldude1111 I forgot that I explained it better in the video that came after this (Multiclassing one). But I said if you wanted to go for Sneak Attack on Flurry of Blows you could and then just take the finesse weapon off at no cost. Warning that it IS an action to put the weapon back on, so you'd have to be sure you were done trying to go for sneak attack for the combat.
      But at least on the first enemy you try to blow up, you get the best of both worlds.

    Monk has some itemization to it. There are gloves late in Act 1 that raise Dex to 18. Towards the endgame there is apparently a set of gloves that set str to 23. As far as races go Githyanki for the super jump and Wood Elf for the extra movement are both solid choices.

    Just to let you know, I'm pretty sure that sneak attack does actually apply to unarmed strikes in Bg3, at least my monk/rogue seems to be able to apply the sneak attack with weapons, unarmed strikes and even as part of flurry of blows.

    • @Ghostzapper
      @Ghostzapper  Рік тому +1

      I see. If you have a finesse weapon in your main hand, your unarmed strikes can trigger sneak attack damage.
      More than that, it can apply twice if you use Flurry of Blows. That's silly. Well, at least it only benefits this build!
      And reminds me to never take the game at its word! Nice catch.

    So one thing you can do in act 2 is pick up the gloves of dex which sets your dex at 18 that coupled with the 16 wis will give you a total of 16 ac 17 with the clock of protection in act 2. Later in act 2 there is a pair of clothes that gives you bullrush and 2 to str that would round your str to 20. 20 str 18 dex 16 con 16 wis. So you'd still be pretty hard to hit with no armor and still allow your TB feat to do work because your str would be 2 points higher than dex. You can get all of this by level 6.

  • @EvgGaar
    @EvgGaar Рік тому +2

    Worth pointing out that you can grab Persuasion profeciency/expertise thanks to Rogue, which will let you be a decent face even with 8 Cha.
    Imo the 4th Rogue level for a choise of +2 Wis or a +5 initiative feat is the best choice to go for the last level.
    Wis is very tempting to maximise the damage output, as not only will it increase the necrotic/psychic/radiant buff damage by a reliable constant +1, but also further boost the Wis boots output.

    • @Ghostzapper
      @Ghostzapper  Рік тому

      What are you doing about the low AC? If it's through Items, I guess I would prefer you not to say which exact ones, because I'm having a blast finding things myself. But if it's something mechanically, I'd love to hear it. Or if it's just picking them off the ground because their action is less important than like every other class, I totally get that too. Just curious how you're approaching it!

    • @EvgGaar
      @EvgGaar Рік тому +2

      @@Ghostzapper 3x +1 AC from items (and I missed another +1, so coulde've been x4)
      +2 AC from Dex - starting with base 12 Dex and then +2 more from gear. Started with 16 Str instead of 17, but got +1 and then further +2 Str from quests, on top of the tavern brawler's +1, so no Str lost here. It is actually possible to reach 22 if you add a further +2 from ASI, since quest bonuses are counted after the 20 limit (so you end up with 19+3)
      +2 AC buff from Shield of Faith Shadowheart can constantly concentrate on thanks to my whole party being innately accurate and me not needing Bless, but it could've been someone else casting the buff with other party setup.
      +3 AC more from Wisdom thanks to keeping the build Unarmored, so a total of 20 AC, which is around level 8-9 in Act 2.
      Alternatively I can reach 22 AC currently with yet another piece of gear boosting Dex even higher, but I pick more damage on unarmed attacks in the same slot instead. Had I not missed another item earlier it would've been possible to reach a grand total of 23 AC at this point, with it potentially further boosting to 24 AC with the +2 Wis ASI
      I plan to drop one of the +1 AC itmes I'm currently using, but the +2 Wis ASI will get it back up ultimately.
      Hopefully this is vague enough and it doesn't spoil anything for you. :)

    • @Ashtarte3D
      @Ashtarte3D Рік тому

      Best gloves/chest both come from Escape the Deal quest in Act 3. Gives you an absurd 21 AC heavy armor that GRANTS YOU PROFICIENCY and the gloves at 1-10 force dmg to unarmed AND HEAL YOU. Or you can disable the heal for turn based advantage. Helm you prob want the -1 crit requirement helm. Jewelry would be added damage or mobility increases, since you won't have unarmoured movement as str monk.

      At the Githyanki creche at the end of Act 1 there is a vendor who has gloves that set Dex to 18. Amulet of Misty step is nice to have in general and can be picked up in Act1 at the Goblin camp in the interior room with the Ogre woman. Later on at the endgame there is the absurd items @Ashtarte3D mentioned.

    Just as a heads up the main reason Str monk works is Tavern Brawler being buffed to the moon and apparently Larian might put their foot down on this later. So enjoy this while you can!
    Also personally I'd recommend running Fighter 2/Monk 6+ after lv8 for Action Surge and Fighter primary for free heavy armor access until you can get your grubby mitts on the Helldusk Armor (along with OP AF Gloves of Soul Catching) to swap back for the Thief sub.

      I may be a bit confused with 3 Thief/ 2 Rogue. As they're the same, not sure what you meant by that.
      Assuming you are taking these levels after 5 Levels of Monk, I would recommend that 6th Level of Monk and then the Rogue Levels to get to Thief!

      @@Ghostzapper He probably meant Monk instead of Rogue, thus asking if 3Rogue(thief)/2Monk would bea good idea.
      I absolutely agree that 6 Monk as soon as possible is more improtant than an extra bonus action that you would spend more than half of your levels (at that moment) to unlock, especially since Monk 5 will get you an extra Attack any way.

      There's also the Mirror of Loss in Act 3 that can give you +2 in any stat you want, with a -2 in any stat as well. This can however be remedied with Shadowheart or Gale's "Remove Curse" while keeping the +2.
