    Finally, a build that lets me embrace my inner cat burger. Seriously though, as someone who isn’t super into the lore yet as bg3 is my first dive into DnD, I enjoy seeing your interpretations of various ideas. I think it works best this way as many people will interpret something differently and if someone wants to be super close to the lore they are free to not follow the build.
    I liked all of the “corrections” and such since it provided many other ideas. You have loads of people showing more optimized versions and others showing versions that are more lore friendly. It worked as a conversation which not only boosted your vid but I also found super interesting to read through

    This was an interesting build. I've loved Arcane Trickster for a long time and always thought that people sleep on it too much. I've actually been wanting to build a rogue/warlock build based around it as well. Like this magic thief stole something that linked them with a patron that gave them warlock abilities. These lore builds you've been doing have really helped inspire me to try more thematic builds as well. Keep up the awesome work!

    I must be an exception to the rule. I used Alchemy like crazy. Elixirs rock. I also use the Artificer mod (because um, Eldritch Guns are awesome), and one of the perks of the Artificer is they also get Experimental Alchemy perk regardless of subclass. If you aren't using Alchemy you're really missing out. :)

    And this build? Hearing you would actively avoid the optimization tunnel vision so many fall for (Fighter heavy armor action surge or thief 3 for extra bonus action heard a thousand times over)

      I'm not and never have been a fan of pure min max'ing. It makes every party essentially the same and is boring as heck. Idk if you've noticed, but it seems like 95% of the streamers are Paladins, Sorcerer/Paladins, Paladin/Bards etc etc.. They're either Human, Half Elf or Half Orc if they are evil...it's like _"What the heck folks, can't anyone be even a little bit original?"_ We can't forget about the Dragonborn Bards either. And the stats are always min maxed. Every Pali...20/10/10/12/18/16. Every damn one. I saw one guy use a Shadow Monk/Rogue Assassin/Illusionist type and that's the only original one I can think of early on. He basically played a Ninja, solo'ing the Keep before Ketherick was really fun to watch. Took a minute, but at least I wasn't watching someone using _"Smite"_ for the umpteenth time or breaking their vows intentionally.
      Idk if it is the game itself or 5E/1 D&D as a whole that makes min/max'ing so popular, but it sure makes the role playing boring as heck. Of course with a 25 point stat purchase system it is pretty hard to make someone who is decent at everything but really excels in a couple of things. Lol, when I saw Minsc with a 10 strength I was like _"OK, c'mon. if this doesn't prove that the 25 point point buy system is idiotic for _heroes_ then I guess nothing will."_ My stats *in real life* would be higher than most characters at level 12 without perma boosts from the mirror and the blood chick. Of course even if, idk, say my strength is 16, my dex is 14 and my con is 14, there is no way I am walking around carrying 400lbs on my back 17 hours per day, never mind during a fight. Kinda tough to do a half flip over someone and jab out with a sword or bo stick when you have a pack that weighs twice as much as you on your back...that you have been carrying around, moving at a slow jog pace for the last 3 hours. I used to do "Farmer Walks" for 200 yards with 100lb Dumbbells in each hand while wearing a 100lbs weighted vest...that was hard. Really hard. A 200lb vest + two 100lb DB's? For a few miles? Then fighting? Are you kidding me? Lol, I certainly don't have the stats for that! I guess giving us all a pack mule would have been a bit weird. Kinda like this reply that has gotten as long as a blog and as off topic as...most of my usual posts! Take care /rant

    Always gotta love builds that involve stealth, there is nothing quite so satisfying as taking down enemies or getting through areas like a ghost.
    This build somewhat reminded me of another old unusual class, the Beguiler. It is also a stealth and magic class thats all about manipulation magics, Illusion and Enchantment etc, with proficiencies in deception, persuasing etc. Its all about messing with the minds of others whether magically or skill with words. Not sure how yyou'd replicate it in BG3 maybe, Arcane Trickster and a Bard class? hmm If I wasn't busy with my Fighter druid I'd have a wack at it. XD
    Still loving the videos and if your gona add more indepth lore to them then thats all to the better.

    Brew Potions with transmutation wizard? i love it especially when there are some particular elixir and potions i like to brew a lot (i'm a big fan of alchemy and i use it in every of my playthrough since it is a really potent tool)
    and my favourite potions are;
    Potion of Speed (Hyena hears)
    Elixir of bloodlust (Wardog fang if i remember correctly the name of the ingredient :P, give an extra action on kill )
    Elixir of Strength: Giant Hill (Giant hill finger, set Str to 21! )
    Elixir of Strength: Giant Cloud (Giant Cloud finger, set Str to 27! )
    and yes granades but you find them in abundance in the game already so never felt the need
    As optional you can brew Elixir of arcane intellect to get 1 additional spell slot for your caster but i onestly never used them and i have 9 that give level 4 spellslot in my bag, i probably used them only in the last fight but ending resolving it with scrolls instead so ...
    PS: My Open Hand Monk did the entire playthrough with 8 Str and using elixir of Str every morning and not even using this transumtation feature ... i need to try it xD
    PPS: I buy/steal every last ingredient i can find in every vendor every day. My daystart wit
    - Drink Elixir of Str
    - Pact of the blade on my Warlock
    - Give longrstrider to all my party members
    - Use speak to animals spell/potion (you can brew this as well but there are many in the game if you can't have the spell)
    - Vendor tour to buy/steal everything useful (Extra elixirs, extra ingredients steal extra gold ecc)
    - aaaaaaaand kick some asses if needed

  • @crzyces1693
    @crzyces1693 8 місяців тому +3

    Man, it kinda sucks that regardless of the build, the "Disintegrating Nightwalkers"_ are almost *ALWAYS* the best choice. The _"Boots of Speed"_ you get an hour or so (more or less) before those boots _could_ have been a tough decision if they worked like boots of speed did a long time ago; ei bonus to slip/entangle/ensnare rolls and additional movement at all times without having to _"Click heels"._ If you go back to the versions from 1978-2001 then you would be picking the Boots of Speed 99% of the time as they'd give you the above plus double your attacks. Since in D&D, up through 3E, attacks, actions and bonus actions were all essentially the same thing and whether or not something counted as a segment of a round was up to the DM. So if a 12th level fighter had 3 attacks, he'd basically have 3 actions to do whatever. With boots of speed he'd have 6 actions. So double movement 24/7 + double your actions + double bonus actions + double reactions would be the equivalent in 5E. And the Nightwalkers are so good, it would still be a tough choice.
    Then there were versions that _only_ gave the movement and traversal bonus *Until* they were paired with bracers of speed at which point you'd get the double everything, including a bonus to your AC. None of this once per day shi...poop either. Boots with something like Misty Step would be a 3 to 5 time per day type of deal, letting you use them more than once per battle. The double everything was active on demand and didn't even have charges beyond the character's endurance/level + constitution + DM's discretion. Weird how I've never thought about how underpowered armor, weapons and items are in this game. Not all obviously. There are plenty of crazy powerful weapons, but what if you are a scimitar wielder? Long sword? Battle Axe? Hand Axes? Daggers? Long Bow? Even the shortbows are underwhelming as main weapons. Yes, I know with rings and bracers with a potion plus a spell buff along with a class build you can make great shortbow, or dagger, or a bloody Halberd build for that matter (though there are better Halberds and Glaives than there are Longswords for some odd reason), but if you are just a straight Longsword + Shield kinda guy, or someone who wanted to be an Artemis Entreri type with two long swords, you are sol. There simply aren't any legendary quality longswords to use.
    Kinda a bummer. A crafting system would have fixed that but for whatever reason they chose not to include it in the final build while forcing people to rest by limiting everything to long rests for the majority of item's abilities that were worth while. I get that at levels 5-8, but 10-12? 12 when you have probably been level 12 for 75+ real life hours? Yeah then it gets a bit absurd. Regardless, those darn Nightwalkers are still powerful as heck, and it would take something like *real* Boots of Speed (without a bonus attack or doubling of actions obviously as then it is a no brainer in most cases) to make anything else your kicks of choice save for a couple of very specific builds where you would still probably be better off with them and using something else to make up for "sparks" or heat.

    I think it would be interesting for Tymora build to focus only on "luck", so buffing your party and yourself. Tymora is one side of the coin, the other being Beshaba (which I don't think is in the game), the goddess of misfortune. They used to be one godess, Tyche, but she got split in half.
    But again, don't think Beshaba is selectable, so it's understandable if you want to incorporate both good and bad luck themes into the build.

    • @HoboZone

    • @Axterix13
      @Axterix13 8 місяців тому +1

      Well, she's good luck, not bad luck. So things like the Lucky feat and the Divination wizzy subclass should probably factor in. After all, what's the point of gambling if the odds aren't in your favor? One could also add halfling, but, personally, I'd skip that, as one restriction too many (plus being born a slow moving race is pretty bad luck).

    A lot of the channels i watch, purposefully leave the misplays in, unedited, knowing that the corrections boosts their algorithm anyways.

    Its a cheesy but effective way to game the system.

    I came up with similar design for this build on RP purpose. "The Emperor" as you can guess this one involve gitch to work but it's fun to play and if you intend to side with the emperor himself, it's make more sense because you're the same. You can go with arcane rouge first or start with assassin rouge as you see in emperor memory, he has influence from shadow and feed on criminal only core for this idea is "Disguise Self" that you can get from assassin9 or any true caster. For stat after gitch will be (without item) str13, dex12 ,con14, int20, wis18, cha18
    Edit: I'm running on this idea now so far on act 3 now doesn't running into bug yet

  • @FernandoHernandez-jw4yy
    @FernandoHernandez-jw4yy 8 місяців тому

    24:38 Silver Pendant is NOT in Act 2, but in Act 1! You can grab it right after leaving the Nautiloid. That being said, it's of limited use as equipping it means you can't equip any other amulet. Guidance is useless in combat, it's usefull for skillchecks in dialogue, picking locks, diarming traps and so on. So unless you want to switch around amulets all the time, which will get cumbersome, you don't want to use this permanently. Clerics and Druids get the cantrip anyway and Warlocks can get it via Pact of the Tome so most partys will be able to cover this without the amulet anyway. Just have your Cleric or Druid cast it on your Rogue when necessary. And yes, I'd argue that any well rounded party will have at least one character with at least a dip in either Cleric or Druid. One level is all you need to get Guidance! And even if your party doesn't have one for whatever reason, there are so many better choices for your amulet slot, so you are better of just going without Guidance.
    I wish the amulet would allow you to cast Guidance even if it's not equipped and just in your inventory. At least when you're not in combat. This would basically have the same effect as switching amulets around for combat and out-of-combat without it becoming a chore.
    But if I am really honest, I wouldn't have put this item in the game AT ALL if I would have designed it. It really takes away one of the key unique features of Clerics and Druids. It's the best cantrip they get.

    • @HoboZone
      @HoboZone  8 місяців тому

      I only showed it off because there was no specific amulet I wanted to use in this build so I felt like showcasing something I hadn't shown before. You can swap it for anything you want really, it's not essential.

Veneer of Calm - dmg bonus based inverse proportion of lost hp, up to 50%. Battle Tempo - speed boost on kill. Spirit Pulse - Fenris flares with dark energy, lashing foes with a blast of spiritual force - AOE attack which requires Lyrium Ghost being activated.

    Can you use unarmed strike even with both hands occupied by weapons? Lets say, an, even dual wielding two daggers, can you use your action to deal a weapon attack with your main hand, then use an unarmed strike as bonus action?

    • @HoboZone
      @HoboZone  8 місяців тому +1

      You can do flurry of blows at least. You can obviously just drop the dagger if your rather use unarmed attacks. I was mainly just showing it off.

      @@HoboZonethanks for the answer, but my question was about the execution. Can some char dualwield scimitars and still use the unarmed mechanicaly? The offhand weapon would be just for the badass looks, the action would be an attack with main hand, and an unarmed attack with the bonus action. I dont own the game yet, but im curious if it is even possible

    Really a refreshing build and idea you have and 2 level of wizard for double alchemy is very creative. However it'd be better if you can show case more game play that demonstrate the trickster aspect of the build such as using illusion to lure enemies so your mage hand can throw potions, bomb on them ? You got double alchemy but you don't really talk about it much which imo is quite a miss to explain your great idea.
    Another thing that I think you miss in this build is leveling curve. Your leveling steps make your character basically deadweight from 5 to 11 as your sneak attack stop scaling after level 4. You only got extra attack at 11 and teleport at 12 which is basically where the game end. 6 shadow monk first will smooth the early game but really not a shadow trickster.

    • @HoboZone
      @HoboZone  8 місяців тому

      Yes this is problem with building in this game in general. Since we only go to level 12 multi classing becomes somewhat less valuable in the long run. That's why with my builds I always say to play around with how you level because I only show the levels of each class one after the other for organizational purposes.

      As much as I love the show too, I don't like the idea of re-creating someone else DND (or pathfinder I guess) character because it is basically just ripping off someone else idea.
      I don't mind making characters who aren't from DND such as game or movie characters, as that requires some thinking as to how to adapt them.

      That's odd. The description of the spell says it can do those things. I do know that the scouting aspect is true and the hand pick pick up items to throw/bring to you that are lying around (which can be stolen items) and can shove things.
      Apologies if my info is a bit inaccurate. I know the Hand can do a lot of things but I guess it can't take things directly off people? That's either a bug on Larians part or the Wiki is inaccurate.

    Problem with Baldur's Gate 3s builds is that by the time you get all the items you need and level up to the max level, you're kinda almost at finish line. Wish there was more content that would let us put our builds to the test. Like I wish you could reach Level 12 in like Act 2 and then the rest is just getting items and perfecting the build.
    I'm only on my second playthrough though I might be wrong.

    • @HoboZone
      @HoboZone  8 місяців тому +1

      This is why I try to account for the full game when making builds. I try to use act 1 or 2 equipment where I can.
      There are mods I'd recommend if you're on PC, like the level 20 mod, but I don't take those into account for the sake of console players.
