Songs Used (in order):
From Midst of Town (Ali Project)
Combat (Crisis Core OST)
Devils Never Cry (DMC HR/HM Arrange OST)
(Small note about Shotgun Twitching's application against Mundus: I didn't mean to make it sound like it should be used as a strategy to defeat Mundus with, but it's great at recovering Devil Trigger - so you can use DT in the fight more often) - Ігри

Hey can you help me out here I can’t seem to get the ifrit attack Cancel down in playing the collection if that helps
Thank goodness you did not have to buy ammo or find any lol
There’s this emperor, and he asks the shepherd’s boy how many seconds in eternity. And the shepherd’s boy says, ‘There’s this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it, and every hundred years a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed.’ You may think that’s a hell of a long time. Personally, I think that’s a hell of a bird.

@@Al_Xesuch a great episode
@@notever8401 One of the best
WHERE WAS THIS INFO BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL!!! Seriously, thanks a ton man!! DMC1 was one of the hardest games I ever played as a teen, but I never understood game techniques like comboing, canceling, spacing, timing etc. Now I can enjoy playing games that used to seem impossible to master. So glad DMC got released on Switch:)
I still haven't been able to beat DMC 1 on DMD. Nightmare just kicks my ass everytime
Due to just not knowing, I remember this game coming out on PS2 before jump equals s. I ended up beating this on Normal mode after grinding for all the moves in a Bonus Mission. I'll go back to this game now.
I can't beat the 2nd phase of the final boss, but I'm still working to complete it.
I just played it recently on my channel and button mashed most of it 😂
i like that Slash cancel it like in Megaman X4 Zero Slash cancel. haha Capcom with there Lagacy combo
I mean even his whole combo look similar to X4-X5 combo , and don't make me start about that whole scene LIIIIIGHT and FOOOR part !!!!
Also his Devil Trigger DMC4 form and DMC5 have similar design on the head part
Been searching for DMC1 tech for far too long and at long last it's here
Didn't know that you could charge shot in the first game.
Most don't
dmc3 really got a lot of its gameplay mechanics from the root of dmc1
@@DemonSaine and dmc2’s mechanics were expanded more in dmc3
@@KampucheanDemon I just wish they didn't take away wall running in dmc4 and 5 I honestly don't understand the decision behind that
@@DemonSaine especially considering Nero wall runs into the attack he beats Artemis with in 5
Nice work documenting this stuff. Outside of memes, DMC 1 and 2 don't really get talked about that much in terms of the hidden gameplay techniques they have, like people do for the later games. Keep up the good work
in case of DMC1 it's a shame, but 2 is so easy it really doesn't need any strategies, tips, or anything to help you along the way lol
This is the kind of information your friend would tell you about the game back in school when it came out and you’d call him a liar bc you couldn’t figure out how to do it. But bc of UA-cam it can be explained to me way easier on any game.
Thank you so much. This is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to get the most out of this game. I wish I had this back when I was getting all my S ranks.
I salute you for pulling that off.
If I remember right back in the first game ranks were heavily based on time completion lol
when you realize you can also make sick combos in DMC1... :O
As soon as you focus an enemy with your shotgun, you can hold the shoot button while hitting and enemy with basic attacks to charge it and then release it to do masive damage up close
This game was way ahead of it's time in terms of gameplay design alone.
3:15 crisis core ost feelin the flow
Work it work it
awesome vid man keep it up
What if DmC and DMC come together cause of a rift or something
Weird seeing you here
Ayyy JoJo WiFi
He sounds like you. Hhhhhhmmmmm🤔🤔🤔
F***ing A, you have no idea how much it is appreciated seeing all this in one video, it's been far too long since I played Dmc1 and the moment I have planned out to get on it here you are my save and grace putting all the advanced techs together in one video that just shows up in my recommended. No matter if I thanked you a lot I'm pretty sure others have already more than shown their appreciation, so thank you!!
You have been the one to fill my playthrough with TECHNIIIIQUES
Thanks man ive been waiting for some do this for so long haha
I remember my younger days playing this game, I loved it! now I bought the HD collection on Xbox and man, I missed DMC so much, but I feel like I want to play better, this info is very helpful, thank you! I need to practice these tips
How is it going? I'm here for the same reason haha
I've noticed that shotgut twitching works sometimes by simply mashing square, tho it's not guaranteed that the animation will be cancelled
i remember doing it by releasing and pressing lock-on
Hey, fantastic content actually. Really nice and comprehensive breakdown of some fun techniques. Stuff like that is always appreciated for DMC.
Thouuughhh.. One thing I would still contest is calling it "Jump Cancelling" in DMC1. From DMC3 onward enemy step is like an actual cancel which lets you interrupt any animation no matter whether it's windup, active frames or recovery, but in DMC1 the way the shotgun hike works or how you can stay in midair infinitely by spamming E&I while jumping every once in a while is simply acchievable because those moves have very little recovery. You don't exactly cancel anything. Otherwise JCing High Time (on the way up), Helm Breaker or the Divekick should all be possible, but that only works later on in the series.
Idk, I just always considered the terminology people use for that in 1 a little flawed. In any case great stuff, hope I didn't come off as too rude lol
That wasn’t rude at all, that’s actually a pretty good point I hadn’t considered before. Thanks for sharing!

Hey i have a question. What actually unlocks DMD in this game? I've heard some say beating the game on Hard. But does Hard NG count, or only Hard NG+?
Someone else said it unlocks by doing two playthroughs. So if you di Easy NG then Easy NG+, can you unlock DMD for a separate NG?
This video was such a W for me cause not only is it good but you also post combo vids awesome
Really informative, well explained, and really great voice, loved your vid man, thanks for making this video now i can start speedrunning this game
This is a great video dude! Dmc1 is one of my favorites in the series but I always felt like I sucked at it lmao. def gonna be trying some of these.
Just got into the series with dmc1, damn i like this already seeing what kind of techniques and combos we can use in the game, thanks for the vid man bet its really gonna help me out
oh my god thank you!! this would've been so useful when i played this, you're doing the lord's work good sir
Nice video, it really deserves more views!
A technique i wish you included was the fact you can cancel the grenade shot with attacks, most importantly, kick 13. on bigger bodies like Beelzebubs and most bosses this is some of the fastest damage in the game and loops into itself perfectly, and with the time amulet can let you completely breeze through the first two nelo angelo fights. Doesn't really have a name though sadly.
Great video, great explanation, amazing job
thanks for this man, started to feel like a badass
Another tip against the Plasma enemies using Ifrit is the "Meteor" move when Dante shoots a fireball in his DT state. You don't even have to charge it for it to kill them in literally one hit and it makes dealing with them when they're in their bat form a whole lot easier. Combine that with a quick Grenade shot in DT and it makes easy work of them in DMD mode.
This is great. Well done. Does the game justice
danke! didn't know about these besides assuming jump cancel existing. glad to know theres something to help get thro this game in higher difficulties.
I wasn't expecting anything like this for a 20 year old game. Thanks man.
Excellent info. Can't like enough.
Wow this is so useful, thanks!!
You can't do inferno in any other game that's why it's so satisfying to do in dmc1
I mean SDT has it in 5. Really good move to use with Quadruple S.
@@shinysamurott613 DMC1 inferno is WAY more satisfying it really gives you that victory charm after beating a boss on DMD
@@aithanleeom5152 Mm I can see that. I just like it cause it does a boat load of damage
Well, dmc3's bewoluf has something similar though. Foward in the air plus attack is very useful.
@@jankeeuwu No you cant, you're thinking of Meteor, the move where Dante/Nelo launch a meteor at the enemy. I literally have it open right now to make sure.
Thx, this helps me a looot, recently i got the HD colection on my ps5, and it's time to get sole thophys on it
Crisis Core Combat Song is dope
Thanks for this vid ♥️♥️♥️
This is cool. Nobody talks about dmc1's gameplay techniques enough. You should make a dmc2 video lol.
DMC2 really isn't necessarily because even on the Must Die difficulty you can still beat it just by abusing firearms (except Lucia's underwater boss, but that's the worst designed anything ever)
@@leonlegend its almost impossible with trish
@@mr.curtis6730 It's not almost impossible, it IS impossible
@@leonlegend well i did it and it was not fun

Finally somebody made a video about gameplay in dmc1
Love your video!
Holy shit. I watched this video before I even knew what BlazBlue was. Flash forward a year and a half, and Monarch has become one of my favorite current BlazBlue players due to playing Lambda very well. I check your UA-cam page out of curiosity and find that you made this video.
Thank you!
I recently purchased the HD collection for like 2 bucks, and decided to give it a try since the last time I played it was on my PS2 around 10 years ago. This seems extremely useful, I wish younger me would have known
this is gold
Nice video.
Very helpful!
I’m a touch surprised I discovered slash canceling, shotgun twitch and the grenade cancels on my own. Shotgun cancel was by accident and grenade roll was because obviously wanting to dodge an attack after firing.
I actually discovered the slash cancel when fighting Nelo Angelo on DMD just on the basis that I needed to find way to squeeze any extra damage on him as possible.
Shotgun hiking sounds hilarious and vortex cancelling sounds swaggy.
Found out about gun charge and then immediately forgot in my first playthrough when kiting Phantom and getting him stuck on the terrain, while also taunting for free DT.
Nostalgia hit me hard there lmao
I was unaware that such techniques existed but now I’m a little… M O T I V A T E D…to go back and play higher difficulties.
I remember when I started playing dmc1 (it was the first dmc game I've played) and absolutely sucking balls at this game. this video helped me a lot and I probably would've quit the series out of frustration if not for this vid
Thank you monarch
Thanks
Oh hell yeah
I felt so smart figuring out Grenade/Shotgun cancelling
Now I feel smug for figuring out grenade rolling and shotgun twitching on my own as a kid.
Man, you should do at least one more vid like this, for DMC 2!
I mean, since there isnt much stuff there either, It would be Very cool.
In my mind that game is still a shooter may cry, but It might have some techiques
With some work you can totally play DMC 2 with some style. I've seen it be done. Honestly I like the second game more than this one. Rather a game be too easy than too hard. DMD on this game broke me.
Anyways, a DMC 2 video like this would be awesome.
@Steveshi Clayxui slash cancel lock him, then grenade him from below for your DT. Keep doing that.
@@Joseph.Talkowski wait, DMD is too much here, but you like it in 2? Its not even balanced properly.
Though not useful in combat, the stinger move is used to catapult Dante off certain ledges to cut down on distance travelled in some areas and some wall hiking requirement. Two good examples are just after the 3rd Phantom fight to get the trident, and at the broken bridge while standing on the arch over the doorway (the catapult will land you on a piece of the broken bridge)
I knew about the shotgun one from back in the day but didn't know what it was called. My friend who I borrowed the game off showed me it when he was showing me the game.
Some strange mysterious power is preventing the door from opening. Wait, I can hear a voice... Where is it coming from? Is it in... my head? It's saying something, "Beholder of virtuous treasures... Thou shall acquire skills, persverance, overcome hardships and bitter experience. If one does not walk this path, the path to the Underworld shall remain forbidden."
Additionally, Vortex has invincibility frames during its spin attack.
Which is why you can use it to obliterate Phantom in his chase sequence fights. Instantly detonates his fireballs while still doing good dmg on its own.
Damn good video. There aren't any videos on dmc 1 techniques. Any chance you can make one for dmc 3 special edition? All the video I see are 8 years with only text. Would like a little more of a technical breakdown on how to do advanced moves.
I had thought those older videos were comprehensive enough honestly, but I see it's been asked for a lot. I'll definitely consider it if they're not up to date, or could be explained better
Another way you can cancel Dante's flight is by tapping the lock on button. Tapping the lock on button midair toggles air raid, and works as a form of cancel.
Huh. Slash cancelling is so damn easy to do and the inputs come out naturally in my gameplay that I _wasn't aware I was cancelling the final animation_ when I was a kid. I wouldn't exactly call it 'advanced tech,' hell, I'm halfway convinced it was intentional, like shorthopping and fast-falling in Smash.
Started playing the dmc HD collection on ps5 got it for 5 bucks. Haven't played the first game since 2005 or so. Such a fun game, dmc3 is my all time favorite.
I really need a "Ninja Gaiden 3D trilogy advanced techniques" video, nobody talks about that game's combat
Merci beaucoup 😁

I would love to know how this has 2 dislikes. This is very helpful.
Good voice for narratoring. Hope to here you in a DYKG :)
dmc1 was my first dmc game and it was hell lol i might play through it again but ever since dmc1 i have played every dmc since
So press R3 an switch ifrit/alastor , this game is nuts
I've been using the grenade roll since I was 7😂
The thing with the granade launcher had to be unpurpose, the gun is pretty much useless without it, and is really easy to learn by yourself.
Devil May Cry is a rockin' don't come a knockin' baby yeah!
Jump Cancel em DMC1 é tão gueto
I love accidentally firing the shotgun just before landing. Can result in an "airborne" shot followed by a grounded shot in very rapid succession. My favorite accidental technique
The walking shooting style is used in the reboot.
Noticed the red doors are based on skull and bones. Or giant used in Attack on Titans.
I was hoping for info on quick shooting
I was kinda hoping this would include Ifrit looping, I always forget how to explain the execution ://
I can’t do slash cancels does anyone know anything I might be doing wrong?
Noticed the ff7cc music
I'm surprised I passed the shotgun, I did t even know that desk was breakable, I didn't even bother to try breaking it.
CONTROVERSIAL OPINION
This is why I love dmc 2, yeah it’s piss easy and it’s broken on most bosses and enemies but if you don’t just shoot them all you can pull off unbelievable combos on everything it’s hella fun in that regard.
:O can you do one for dmc3?
I use grenade+ stinger cancel, i find it more effective tbh
YOU CAN CHARGE SHOTS
I can't be the only one who had no idea
How to shoot faster with the han guns after you juggle the enemy
Advanced tips for dmc 3?
why tf this just show up now, i even searched for something like this when i was playing dmc1 earlier

Is the shooting guns method a better way to slash cancel than the analog sticks because the latter is going to destroy my analog sticks
I don’t think either method is “better”, I just think it depends on what you find easier to execute. I personally feel like the delay you need to do with the shoot method makes it a bit awkward to use, but that might be because I learned the analog method first.
@@MonarchBB Ah I see. Is there a lighter way to use the analog sticks as opposed to wiggling it because I'm afraid my analogs will wear out very quickly.
@@dazitmane8905 Aside from the half circle method, not really. If you're worried about wearing out your analogs, it's probably better to get comfortable with the shoot cancel timing
Use the guns to fill up the devil trigger. Hence God of War reboot on hardest mode rely on axe throwing till you get good.
I know I’m late but you didn’t explain how to dodge roll almost everything I needed…
Most of these techniques i already knew a LONG time ago. Hell, i did them in my DMC1 steam a few months. However i'm not really good at explaining key details. Also given how fast information flows and the fact that ANYTHING can be found online at this point, i assumed many players already knew this or discovered these techniques for themselves. Either way, this video is very well done, and if anything this can be a refresher for those who need them. 👍
