When I was probably 8 years old (2006), he came to Gruene Hall here in Texas. My dad had always raised me listening to his kind of music and I loved his Leon Russel CD. I was singing along to every song I knew on the stairs up to the stage and his drummer noticed me and was just amazed that I knew the words to the songs. When the show was over he told me to follow him and took me to their tour bus. He went in for a second, came back out and told me to give him something to sign, that Leon never signs anything and that I need to give him something, I gave him the shirt off my back, he came back out moments later with the shirt signed by every member of the band and his drumstick that he used that night. I'll never forget that.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Leon several times. After my wife's and had the first meeting, we were considered friends. After the second meeting, he actually remembered our names. It was then that all we had to do was let the box office know to tell Leon we were there and backstage after show all access was given to us. We always had a conversation with Leon and let him know that we were appreciative. He was a great person. Oh.....and by the way....always had killer food for everyone.

@billdauphine951 yep.... true. He was a wonderful man. Everyone has their faults , but my wife and I never seen them with Leon. We wouldn't talk too long because there was always a crowd. Mostly said hello and would chat about 5 minutes and leave it at that. After show backstage was always crowded and I'm sure he felt like he was being pulled in 10 different directions. BTW The food was ALWAYS GREAT....I CAN SAY THAT

Using George Harrison for clickbait. The video barely mentions the relationship between him and Leon Russel. Harrison’s early influences were people like James Burton and Carl Perkins. He incorporated them into his music and fairly quickly developed his own style. You can hear the influence in What Goes On from Rubber Soul. Harrison kills it. Russell began his relationship with Harrison as a studio musician that developed into a lifelong friendship. I saw Harrison live on tour I believe in 1972. Awesome show even though Harrison was recovering from a cold and sore throat it was still so awesome.

In my 60 plus years as an adult, i attended maybe 3 concerts , concerts worth mentioning Here in Phila, at the Academy of Music, i sat in the peanut gallery and watched what i consider the greatest assembledge of musicians and babies and dogs. I believe Mad Dogs and Englishmen album, is the greatest ever produced, with the songs ranging from blues, to soul to rock
What is missing in ths bio is the mention of Elton John bestowing him to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, maybe 2014 a must watch on You Tube. I came into Mad Dogs thinking Cocker was King, and left with only one choice Russell There exists a video of the concert for those who are further interested.

If you are the person that created this, I'm sorry that you're upset. I am glad that it didn't cost me anything to see it, but then again, I'm in no hurry to ever see another one. The visuals in all these sort of videos is crap. Also the Harrison title is mostly crap and certainly click bait

I wasn’t aware he influenced Linyard Sky-Nard and boy did he shake things up with his final truth about George Harrison. It was extra soulful having the whole thing narrated by a CG program matched with recycled photos of the wrong people.

Great testimony to Leon and his trail-blasing career. It was awesome. It was factual and informative. I had no idea he had cerebryl palsy and may have had alsymers. He was an inspiration to thousands of notable musicians and songwriters, including myself. I just wish the narrator would've pronounced names correctly. Ronnie VanZant and Gary Rossinton's band was Lynyrd Skynyrd, pronounced, Leonard Skinerd. Leon was a fighting genius, to say the least and a hero to me😂❤

A big problem with this kind of program is the disjunction between the text and the illustrations. I once heard the name Joseph Stalin spoken over the image of Harry Truman. There is a lack of respect for the artists, as well as us.

Nice Documentary but who ever put it together needs to learn what people look like. They keep showing Willie Nelson when they are talking about Joe Cocker and at one point show Curt Cobain and he wasn't even born when Russell was with Joe Cocker. But still very interesting.

Wife, this video is a fairly good overview of Leon Russell. It is full of mistakes. Some examples he was not born in Tulsa. He was born in Lawton and did not come to Tulsa until 1953. In the 1980s. He did not come back to his studio in Tulsa. By that time the studio was being run by Tulsan Steve Ripley. There is no mention of his success in 1971 at being part of the concert for Bangladesh. There are several more obvious mistakes in this video. Seek out other sources if you really want to know the truth

Loved Leon during the 70s. He seemed to be everywhere on records and performances. I was waiting for the big reveal on George Harrison that never came, more of a platform for Russell, but that's cool. The video had me going until the Liney Skinard bit. LMAO.

Nobody cares and you're broke, homeless, living on the street in the worst part of town. Don't let this happen to you and your loved ones. Peace.

What a dreadfully long-winded video I wish I hadn't spent my time seeing. It just repeats the same two or three pieces of information about Leon Russell over and over again. And the title is so deceptive; there is no silence broken, no big scoop about George Harrison.

I’m pretty sure that the backing band and singers at Concert For Bangladesh were all affiliates of Leon’s, as well as Billy Preston’s, all Bromlett alumni. Too ad Delaney and Bonnie weren’t there. Perhaps label conflicts.
