Here's another Bandstand-like teen dance show that were so ubiquitous back in the 60’s. Swingin’ Time was broadcast from CKLW Channel 9 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and also seen in Detroit (just across the Detroit River). Hosted by Detroit radio legend Robin Seymour, the show ran from 1965 to 1968.
If you’d like to see the whole episode, which includes guests Bob Seger, Dionne Warwick, and (as seen at the end) James Brown, check out @Debbie Daughtry ”swingtime” on YT where I found this clip. I believe she was a dancer on the show. Thanks for the clip Debbie.
“Bus Stop” peaked at #5 today on the Billboard Hot 100.
Thank you for watching! More great dance clips to come.
Wow, I remember this music very well, I was 5 years old in 1966. Now, in 2024, I'm 63. Times sure does fly when you are enjoy life, wink.
The best era!
eine super Zeit erinnere mich gern zurück !!
Ooh for the 60’s & 70’s 👍🏻
My how we’ve fallen :(
What's this "we" shit? Speak for yourself. I had a good vibe listening to this song and reading the comments. And then you wrote that 🗑️. That's on YOU. You create your reality.
I like that the youth back then would go to things like this well dressed, not today, sadly.
ONE OF MY ALLTIME FAV. SONGS!❤
Same here. I was in first or second grade when this song came out, and I still picture the bus stop near my school when I hear it.
I was a little Girl and remember listening to the 45 rpm @ my Cousins' 🏡 Of course We were listening to The BEATLES Too !!
I always liked this song. I met Graham Nash of the Hollies/Crosby, Stills and Nash in 1983 on stage at Wembley Arena in London. I accompanied a friend who had won a contest promoting CS&N "Allies" LP and tour. We had backstage access and were escorted on stage just before start of concert. Graham came over to us and said hello and a few words. As the concert was about to start Graham noticed a roadie start to escort us from stage to our seats and he told roadie no- to let us stay on stage. So we sat in folding chairs on same side where Graham played piano. We were actually fairly close so it was pretty cool. Graham was very friendly, welcoming and gracious. Stills and Crosby not so much. Then afterwards backstage had a unique encounter with Jimmy Page. But that's another story.
Like to hear "the rest of the story"
How can you do that to us? 🙄
I used to love this show.. had performers from a period in Detroit you didn’t know if they were local or national.. and often they were local and became national
I can't stop watching this video for 2 reasons, #1 I always liked this song, and #2 that blonde with the glasses is so beautiful, she had an unique beauty, a beauty all her own and with that beautiful hairstyle and those glasses, she looked like a sophisticated beauty.
I'm glad I grew up in this era. The music was so great, and you could dance to it!!!!
CKLW: Windsor (Ontario)/Detroit (Michigan)
I was only 7 in '66 but I remember this song 🎵 very well. Thanks for the memories of the good ole days and tunes from my Youth.
I was 11 in 66' my brother was drafted in the Army that year looking back was better then now in some ways but not really for me
@@horseyhorselips3501I was 15, in high school at Mary Louis Academy, Queens, NY. My brother, Jimmy also went in the army. I saw him once in the summer of 1967 and he was killed in Vietnam in January of 1968.
Same here. July 1959, Detroit, MI 🎂
I was 5 in 1966, and I still remember this and just about all the music from my youth. I'm 63 now in 2024.

Nine years old dancing to this, THEN ...... still dancing, NOW! Great song!
we're the same age, lol
We much more united back then - musically and as a nation. Motown, Rock, Pop, Instrumental, Country all played on the same AM channel.
I have always liked this song. I was only 5/6 when this song came out.
I would love to be on camera dancing my pants off for the end credits music!
I lived in Detroit during the 60s. I haven't thought about Robin Seymour or Swingin' Time for decades!
It’s always interesting to see what dance shows aired in various local markets. Good one Aaron.
Bus stop is one of favorites😍
Beautiful and iconic ❤️ did you ever attend any of her concert?
Windsor, Ontario was for a time, the main decider of what was popular and not popular in music in North America in the 60s and early 70s. CKLW (L for London and W for Windsor)...or the Big 8. This is classic footage and would love to see more.
James Brown the one and only electrified every where he goes Mr dynamite!😅😅😊
Dear Aaron - many many thanks for this nice music and video. Bus Stop soo cool song.
Glad you like it!
Thank you YouCanDanceToit! for your great channel. Discovered you a few weeks ago and I can't get enough. I'm 73 yo and the videos bring back so many good memories of a better and simpler time. The music I grew up with.
My pleasure!
@@YCDTII gotta give you your props you go out of your way to post classic AB clips from the 60s & 70s you took the time to post up a clip from a local dance show from the 60s if you get the chance look up a local dance show that was around here in Cleveland it aired from 1964-71 the show was called upbeat
@@YCDTI UA-cam banned me in Feb. and I finally got a new channel, had to look you up and re-subscribe. It is terrible that YT censors people.
Swing time...love to watch them dancing! Nice time!
That blonde with the glasses was so Beautiful, wow, so nice to look at.
This song is one of the earliest radio memories I have. I have loved it since I was 7 years old.
Great clip from the late Mr. Seymour's dance show. Very much aimed at the Motor City, featured several Motown and soul acts.
good afternoon my friend kevin this show was not in michigan it was in windsor, ontario on a TV chasnnel called CKLW channel 9
good afternoon my friend who liked this comment here too
Great vocals
Thanks for this clip, Aaron! I agree with Don about seeing what others were up to at the time. I imagine there may have been many local dance shows like Casey Kasem's Shindig(KTLA 5) and Llyod ThaxtonShow (KCOP 13) Sam Riddle's Ninth Street West(KHJ 9) were local to LA. I hope James Brown survived that attack!!! Bob Seger seemed to get a real kick out of it..haha
James is a National treasure ❤️ did you ever attend any of is concert?
@@RayCarlos045 Sadly, I never did my boyfriend (35 years) was lucky to see him at least a half a dozen times...he was a legend.
That’s cool, it’s nice to meet you. If you don’t mind can we be friends?
60's and 70's best music ever
Awesome 👌
AWESOME !! BUT YOU KNOW ALL THESE YOUNG MEN WERE THINKING ABOUT VIETNAM 🇻🇳 !!
In the background of some frames (specifically 0:41 on the right and some others) you can see Bob Seger in the background clapping and holding an acoustic. This is from the same taping of Bob Seger and The Last Heard performing East Side Story😂
What a pleasant surprise! THANKS, ARON!!
Wow...I was only 4 at this time lol But have heard some of these songs before 😊🎼
Luv this! Thanks for sharing with us!!!
C-K-L-W! The Motor City!
Thank you very much!
We were the sweetest little dweebs back then!
Hey Aaron , thank you i enjoyed that..
Bons tempos ❤
The blonde with the glasses is quite pretty(1:08-1:18). 👓❤😁
Don't remember this show. . Still very conservative. Not yet hippies in 1966. How many of these boys were drafted and sent to Vietnam and made it home? Windsor CKLW remember that station. Great post. CKLW Motor City
James Brown became a father nine months later,I'm pretty sure.
I just want to know what the theme song is. Love it!
Im infatuated with the blonde girl with the glasses
good evening my friend this show was from Windsor, Ontario Canada not in Detroit, Michigan
good afternoon my friend who like my comment here to
I WAS THERE IN THAT DECADE
NOTICE THE MATURITY OF THE YOUNG DANCERS....ALSO NO TATTOOS !!....
I don't think of "Bus Stop" as "dance music".More like sing-a-long music.
"A Whiter Shade of Pale"?"My Cup Runneth Over With Love"?"Let it Be?"Riiiight
the songs and the dancing was much better around 1964, 1966 was crappy
Lame....no need to dance to this song, just listen.......
It would have been a great decade but for vietnam and racism
