Everyone i know with a pedal kayak seems to rarely take them out. Way i see it the more you add to the kayak the less bothered you can be with the process of getting it from your shed to the water. Pretty happy taking my 20kg fishing kayak out every week and can throw it over my shoulder and take down steps etc, can fish most places with it. Each to their own though.
I understand that about your time is money you know how many people I’ve said that to cleaning windows because they want to stay in there and talk to me for 20 minutes 25 minutes time is money Penn one with sexy kayak and see what it does lol
Yeah man I have basically dedicate days full of work to make all these videos for UA-cam to only show it to 7 people, i can get more views just by making top 10 vidoes lol without leaving my house
@@AliexFolgueira yeah, I only have a couple of videos and a couple of shorts on UA-cam the most viewed videos I have have the word sexy in the title don’t know why I get so many views with that word it’s like who wants to see sexy corn 🤷🏻♂️
Aliex, that's a nice light boat, for a quick trip out. I do like the open deck, and the clear window on the PDL Drive. So you can see the prop. Bixpy Time 😂 😎 🎣
I was one of the very first to purchase the Mako 12 when it first came out. Great kayak for the money, I think I paid somewhere around 1299 or 1399 for the 12foot angler version on Amazon. Pros: 1)Price (at least when it first came out) 2) light weight 3) super sturdy 4) instant reverse Cons: 1) wet ride 2) plastic is not as thick as other manufacturers ( gets softer in the sun) 3) seat attachment could have been better. 4) Removing the prop at night time was a hassle, because you had to align the prop before you could remove it. Still a good starter kayak in my opinion. Hobies drive is more efficient than the impulse drive. But if you don't mind the work out, go for it.
@@AliexFolgueira That will be awesome test, but if you have to buy an additional drive. You might as well get the Hobie Passport or compass. Not everyone is like Aliex to have additional kayaks and parts :)
Gday have you ever done a video of maintenance of a pedal drive unit. If not could you do one please or show links to other videos that exist. Thanks 👍
I considered this one big time when I purchased my Pelican Catch 110 HDII. It was difficult to get one in South Carolina at the time, so the Pelican won. This one looks like a much better start kayak for the price. I loved my Pelican, but the reverse maneuvering wasn't the best, nor was stability when standing. They really should send an insert for that hole. I don't think they believe people will paddle too much. It does look like a more delicate kayak. I was rough on the Pelican, and this Mako 10 looks and sounds more delicate.
As far as budget pedal kayaks go, you should review Hoodoo kayaks. Got my wife a gen1 tempest 120p, and it's a very fast, well performing kayak. The prop drive is the smoothest drive I've tried. Smae ease of a fin drive. I think it performed above its price tag.
Non-riot question. I'm trying to decide between topwater 106, bonafide 117, catch 110, shearwater 125, and hobie outback. Which one do you think is the easiest to paddle when not using the peddle drive? Thanks for all the great reveiws! TONS of great info! I have used your videos for a lot of my research into the best kayak for me.
the hobie outbak is the best kayak there by far, in terms of value and paddle and fishability. but thats why it is the most expensive. Shearwater paddles nicely, i would get it with the hobie 180 drive or bixpy. The other smaller ones 110 will be harder to paddle because they are smaller, the rs117 would be the best paddling one. Hope this helps :) thanks for watching Michael
when peddling, no kayak is going to track straight due to the rotating force of props. if normal rotation is reversed then it will pull to other direction. these props rotate clockwise so it will tend to pull left. counter steer is natural. I believe a hyper/fin drive will not do this.
My Riot came with a foam insert that you can put in the hole when you're not using the drive
i thought i was missing something
I’ve been using my almost 3 years now… it’s very good, stable
You need to use the provided Allen key to tighten the pedal drive retaining clips
Hey thanks for the demo very nice work and hope you get to feeling better thanks again.

Awesome stuff dude
Made it through the storm in Cape Coral
Hey man, I'm happy you are safe

It all depends I love just grabbing a kayak and a paddle for a quick after trip. But for real fishing trips I rather take my pedal drive or motor yak

If is strong wind how is looking on the water,? Example feom 10m/s
Epic

Have you tried the Mako 10 Versa , I think out of all them that's the one I find interesting , the Mako 8.5 air needs a hard shell version.

I have the riot versa, we can now test both the hobie drive and the prop

I would like a light weight peddle kayak. My friend has a NAtive brand but I can nt find a dealer in Massachusetts. Any suggestions? Thank you

Maybe the drive is needing some oil or grease? Sure sounds like it. Hey. reverse the impeller so you can go quietly forward.... :_)
hahahaha, i think the sound will get better over time, but i agree i should open it up and grease it up and show you whats inside
Stability and speed wise should I get this or a catch mode 110? I like how both have flat decks
This riot mako is VERY stable.. I’m always standing up and fishing, plus I even put a motor on the side with no issues
@@annickm.6974 I ended up buying a big water 132
Isn't there suppose to be a large scupper foam plug to put when the pedal drive is not in use to prevent the water?
according to Notkekfishing there is
Yea there’s supposed to be one. My friend has the same kayak and it comes with one.
Yes

Hey Aliex do you have any problems with the steering on the Pelican catch HD130? I can't get my steering fixed
I replaced the rudder completely once, you can get parts from pelican, they sell it on the site
