    to apply the stencil, do this ~ spray some windex on the mirror. peel the back off the stencil. place the stencil on the windexed mirror. move the stencil around till it’s positioned the way you want it. use a credit card to squeegee the windex out from under the stencil. i learned this from a sign man, watching him apply vinyl letters to the hull of my boat. i truly enjoy your videos, thank you ~ so much.

    Great job! I have had luck leaving the etch cream on as long as 20 minutes. Sometimes, for whatever reason, the 3 mins wasn't long enough. Not sure why? But I love the look on mirrored glass, will have to give it a try!😊

She normally does Wednesday's 10:30 to 1. And on Saturdays 10:30 to 1 as well. She has been doing stain glass for over 25 years.

      @@MakenzieHallie She is rolling the dice on her business this year, ordering over $8000 in glass this year alone! Her inventory was getting low, and as you already are aware of shipping costs etc. can get very steep if you are not ordering enough at a time, she is saving $$$ on shipping costs, when she gets her order in I will let you know, she had a page on FB, but she doesn’t go on there hardly at all and put posts out (like we would) but you can see a few things on there. Hi! I love this mirror, all your videos, and your style! I have a quick question about etching and stained glass. A coworker of mine just had a baby and I thought it would be really sweet to give her a stained glass pair of baby feet with the initials and DOB etched into it. Would you suggest etching before I even foil, or after I've completed soldering (I don't think foil would take kindly to water without it already being soldered down)? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
    Ps- I vote weird tools 😊

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 роки тому +1

      Bummer! I've heard a couple people say this before, im not sure what it is that stops glass etching cream from working.

  • @dawnchesbro4189
    @dawnchesbro4189 3 роки тому +1

    Would it be possible to stick the vinyl down first as a sheet on the glass, then cut the design out and pick it up with an exacto knife? Then you wouldn’t have to worry about bubbles and not laying properly. And please, wear gloves and eye protection when using etching cream since it’s an acid!

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately the exact knife would scratch the shit out of the glass or mirror, so it has to be cut first!

    • @dawnchesbro4189
      @dawnchesbro4189 3 роки тому +1

      @@MakenzieHallie I’d test it out on a scrap piece of mirror. I cut copper foil directly on glass and haven’t scratched any art glass yet. I’ve read that if you use a sharp stainless steel blade, it’s nearly impossible to scratch the glass.

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 роки тому

      Well, you can definitely give it a go! I cut foil on glass as well, but vinyl is ALOT thicker and harder to cut through as it is. So I'm just not comfortable suggesting anyone to do that! But if your really worried about bubbling, and feel comfortable doing it that way, absolutely try it!!

    • @dawnchesbro4189
      @dawnchesbro4189 3 роки тому +1

      @@MakenzieHallie ok! I just tested it out on my bathroom mirror (one I really don’t care about) and I was able to cut a thicccc vinyl sticker directly on the mirror without a scratch! I used a brand new exacto knife to do this, not pressing very hard, but definitely cutting on the mirror. I’m just trying to help you by giving you a quicker way that has less chances to make the pattern come out misshapen due to transferring the vinyl to the surface. Plus, you would definitely be able to get super detailed designs on your pattern if you cut it out that way! It’d be super pretty. I literally have no skin in this game.

  • @str8evil

    I love ya and I’ve learned a ton from you, but damnnnnn you made you this a lot more difficult than it should’ve been. It would’ve made it much easier had you not cut those extra 4”s off and cut them into smaller pieces. Also you should’ve at least put blue painters tape on all the mirror surfaces you didn’t want to etch for protection.

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 роки тому
