I heard “Fuck it, launch a sabot at him” as i was bum rushing their remaining infantry w/ sabot in the cannon. then i hit an infantry man with heat I love this update
I think there was a real-life story from OP Desert Storm where an Abrams gunner had a APFSDS round loaded in the gun (ready to fire at enemy armour) but saw an Iraqi soldier pop up with an RPG-7 right in front of his sight. For whatever reason, instead of engaging with the coax MG, he fired the APFSDS round at him and said he simply saw the Iraqi soldier disappear into pink mist.
I need to start getting back into this game. I bought it a while back, and I appreciated the insights it gave me into the specs (armor, fire-control, crew layout, etc...) of tanks of this period. But you really can't have realistic armored warfare without infantry. Even in a tank-heavy force, it's pretty rare for tanks to operate entirely without infantry support or to be able to operate without regard for the possibility of enemy infantry infesting woods, buildings, or trenches. With infantry in the game we now have the possibility of some genuinely realistic armored battles. I've mostly been playing the Combat Mission games lately, particularly Combat Mission: Cold War. And they're great for getting to play around with a complete combined arms team (tanks, infantry, artillery, ATGMs, CAS, air-defense). But in the Combat Mission games you're in command of the whole force. And sometimes I'd rather let someone else (the AI) take command of the overall force while I just get behind a single gunsight. Now that infantry are in the game I think GHPC can finally scratch that itch for me.

sweet crunchies; that will be good and they came out with the first vehicle i ever used as a TOW gunner the 151 but mine had a fording kit and no windshield(it got in the way). I am glad they are working on it still. ty Phan

The US infantry literally run with the exact same animation. And so will Soviet infantry once they get added unless the devs change the animations before then
Great. Now it has about 50% of what M1 Tank Platoon II had! But with a horribly unoptimized graphics engine! I’ve been with this title from the earliest days. I hope they stop adding vehicles and keep adding critical gameplay features like this.
I'm pretty sure they said they are gonna focus on making the Infantry more smart and add more missions with them, the next update I'm pretty sure is supposed to be better visual effects so they are focusing on more basic stuff

Modeling/texturing department (me) is not the same labour pool as the engineering department (about 3-5 people) I made a shitton of vehicles last patch because we knew the infantry was a big job and wanted people to have new stuff to play with anyway.

the walking animation looks alright, but yeah, they look goofy on the run
Hopefully the animator is getting experienced
at least they're out and implemented, finishing touches to the animation could be a low priority or can be touched up along the way

Pretty accurate description of my emotional state if I were to fight in a war.
The infantry is still moving a little strangely, like stop motion animation - but it's a start and will surely get better in time.
