You have a lot of great memories in all that stuff. About the American drinks... they taste much sweeter because almost all of the sweet drinks use "high fructose corn syrup." Two times sweeter than cane sugar, half the price because we grow so much corn in the US. But so much sweet causes quite a few health problems...

Got yourself a decent haul for sure!! It is always hard to get started unpacking after a trip somewhere, once I left a bag for 6 months before getting round to unpacking. Hope you get to travel again.

I visited Hawaii for 5 nights back in 2012. I bought a medal coin thing at the Dole Plantation and the Honolulu Zoo. They gold or bronze coloured like but seeing as how they only cost me $5 each I doubt there is any valuable metals in them but they nice. They were in a gum ball type dispenser thing. I also bought back a load of stuff like you such as leaflets and the like that I didn't know what to do with. Most of it got binned eventually. Kept the coins though.
Hope you VHS machine can play NTSC tapes or convert to PAL 60.

I have a "special memories" box that I generally keep under my bed. Has photos, letters, everything paper or small that anyone has ever given me. Sadly people don't tend to write paper letters much these days (unless you count bills) so I don't add to it as often as I used to.
The box and its contents are really the only things that have survived multiple traumatic and hectic house moves over the years. When I die, I guess my kids are gonna have a weird session of trying to work out why I kept all these random trinkets, and they'll get to read love letters from when I was 14 :/

Sorry to hear about ya housemate but glad ya dealing with that :> Awesome haul, makes me wanna go out and find things but anxiety 😩 If videos help you do things( ie like body doubling ) you could try streaming too. Use to do it to get some art done back when I was in a better place, the downside is chatting with people can also make things take longer but could be something to think about ^^

Several people have told me that they associate fundamentalist Christianity with America. It very much exists in the UK. I was raised in it. I very much feel like it's a cult. I think it appeals to undiagnosed autistics as it provides structure, rules, tells us how to think so we don't have to think for ourselves. When I went to university I was living alone for the first time and I went to church five days a week. Bible studies usually involved sharing meals, so I didn't have to feed myself. But when my wife came out as trans and I wanted to explore my own gender identity we were rejected by the Church and able to understand that it was never as safe and supportive as we thought it had been. I had frequently been told "if you have questions, that means your faith isn't strong enough."

Lol -- you went to Target? I don't understand that. Goodwill I understand. Hide that taffy somewhere. You'll find it in a few months and have a nice surprise (unless it has a shelf life), and by then it'll be new to your tastebuds again. Santa Monica Pier's another of those places I only went to once. When I'm at the beach, I'm there for the water. Do they still have the bumper cars? I'd probably find all the religiousness entertaining too if I wasn't from here. It's disturbing. I like the mugs. Where did you get those? Lol -- vegan booty :) I like In-n-Out. This'll sound weird, but what impressed me most was their french fries. Good burgers aren't hard to find, but those were by far the best unadorned fries I've ever had. Amoeba sounds cool. I've never been there. I'd go straight to the used CD section if they have one. I went to Venice Beach once. I didn't like it, but I did find a used CD I'd been looking for. I think you got more souvenirs on this trip than I've gotten my entire life. I like souvenirs, but I'm stingy.
