What a beautiful, beautiful arrangement, I've slways loved this song with Vera Lynn, and it's so nice to hear the change of character you have given this piece!I feel it sounds somewhat medieval and more poetic. Congratulations, I loved it and am listening to it over and over again, as well as sharing it. Please keep up your wonderful work.
A truly brilliant cover of a heartfelt classic. I just discovered your channel and LOVE how you played this song. I look forward to seeing more of your videos! BTW, if anyone ever tells you to cut your hair, ignore them. It suits you well.
Mindbendlingly BEAUTIFUL! You've captured the song and the spirit of the standard intro that the Ink Spots would use on many of their tunes. Well done you!
Erik, you have such perfect taste in adapting the Great American Songbook to solo guitar in a way that it presents itself very bit as strong as if it played on piano :-) I miss in person lessons with you - Virus go away!
thanks man nice cover thanks for being the one who doesn't sing while playing idk why i just really like the guitar in the song and i couldnt find any instrumentals for the song big thanks again!
Thank you! “I don’t want to set the world on fire” .. another inkspots classic. I play that one as well. The inkspots used the same “happy trails” intro on many recordings.. on gigs when I play this intro I can see that people often recognize it, so it’s kinda fun for me to see what happens when I start playing the tune. Just the other night some folks started singing happy trails as I was playing we’ll meet again.. had a good laugh :)
@@MattH-c2z hi Matt - thank you for your interest! If I knew more about where you’re at with your own playing, that would help me give tips that you specifically might find helpful. Feel free to email me at rikmacmusic@gmail.com if you’d like to chat more. For now here are some thoughts that you may or may not find useful: MELODY one thing I think is sometimes underestimated in solo guitar/ chord melody/ whatever you wanna call it is the ability to simply play the melody of a song. If there’s a song you want to adapt for solo guitar, maybe try limiting yourself at first to playing only the melody, as if you were singing or playing a horn. Try to do that as musically and consistently as possible. Sing along. Keep trying till it feels good simply playing the melody. ACCOMPANIMENT Something else you can do is try to get an understanding of what the harmonic movement is on a basic level, and experiment with ways to , again, play it as musically and consistently as possible. Focus on making simple things sound and feel the way you want. If you try to get more fancy or complicated before you can do that, it will likely sound clumsy, unnatural, forced.. Ultimately I’d encourage you to really pay attention when you hear something that hits you and makes you feel something-let it hit you-and go after that with your guitar however you can. live with it for a while.. experiment. Do more with less
