Wow thank you for saying that! Ultimately that is my goal, the spirit, above all. The “muse” of music I like to say. the “ic” being the technique, etc should be in service of the muse !
Hi Erik, This is the sweetest rendition of Stardust I've ever heard. On a par with the great man himself ( Hoagy) .... Thank you so much for sharing and for the pleasure your playing brings. All the best, David Ambrose.
Wow David, that means a lot. One of my favorite tunes, and there are some really lovely recordings out there. The way I play it continues to change, but I’m really glad to hear you found some inspiration in this little snapshot :)
Don’t give up. I’ve been playing for over 20 years and I still want to quit when I hear other people. You can write music that is just as hard for other people to play.
I can play about 20 jazz pieces as played by specific artist, for example Tony Motolla's version of Stardust or Barney Kessel's Love is Here to Stay.. and also created 3 pieces of my own yet indeed.. rearrangements are hardcore difficult. I managed to play What a Wonderful World of Louis Armstrong but it's practically just the same chords. And that was not easy either.
Willie Nelson is the first time I heard this on guitar, and I thought it was rough, he seemed to brush over parts as he was singing. This version is smooth, flowing. I still want to learn the song
👍thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that. Thanks for putting in the hard work to make that seem so effortless. Keep it up for all us who tried to start playing but for one reason or another…well thanks again
Thank you! So many good tune from this era.. but this is surely one of my favorites. I don’t have this guitar anymore, but it is in good hands with its new owner :)
@@Rikmacmusic Looking forward to hearing more of those great tunes from you soon. Hard to believe that you could let that beauty go, but life is full of farewells.
There is something so inspiring about old instruments like this.. been hooked ever since I first played one. my bank account has yet to forgive me but it adds value to my life in other ways :)
@@Rikmacmusic All my music gear is newish, but I'm currently looking at getting into motorcycles again, and I'm thinking a 50s BSA over a new Kawasaki or something, so I hear you.
It is gorgeous and perfectly played with a great arrangement. Congratulations, you got a new subscriber and fan! 🤩 PS. Your guitar will look and sound great, too.😍
Thanks James that means a lot ! I love this song and never play it quite the same twice. I appreciate that thought and I hope this does inspire others :)
Hey, Nice! Beautiful arrangement!! Sorry, but guitar nerd question; Just wondering what kind of fret wire you have on that guitar and how you like it? (type of wire, height, looks kinda jumbo, anyway sounds really nice!!)
@@garyrosenak3199 thanks ! No apology needed. I don’t have this guitar any more, but I think you’re right that this was jumbo fret wire. I do have jumbo frets on a couple other old Gibsons of mine and I do like it ! Not sure exactly what it does but the jumbo frets to me feel easier to play. But there is something nice about the “precision” of smaller frets
And precisely what I needed on a rainy day in London
You totally captured the spirit and nuance of Hoagy’s recording!
Wow thank you for saying that! Ultimately that is my goal, the spirit, above all. The “muse” of music I like to say. the “ic” being the technique, etc should be in service of the muse !
Incredible arrangement: one guitar sounding like two. A true master of the instrument.
Great! I love your rhythmic chord style. Very rare these days.
Thank you for the ear candy...just what I needed on a cloudy day in Maryland
To be able to keep the walking tempo going in the background, whilst playing the melody is impossible…yet…you did it perfectly.
This one made me cry…

Arrangements like that are exactly why I started playing guitar - they're also exactly why I gave up.😂
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk..! Me too....!!

Go check out Johnathan Kreisberg's version, it may make you start and give up again ;)
😅😅😂 l'd love to after playing tough stuff from other unsympathetic individuals like Coltrane @@jasongraham4425
