I wish 343 could make a prequel called Halo Onyx, it would follow kurt whilst still on blue team and go all until the end of the book. Imagine a starting mission of operation torpedo where you just start running at the plasma factory thing along side 300 other spartan 3s.
That would be cool and simultaneously depressing as hell.
That mission was really cool to read and imagine

I would really like to see some other books be made into movies or games, just imagine playing as Johnson on Harvest in the first contact with the Covenant
They need to make a SPARTAN-III game like the original Ghost Recon from 2001, but with more stealth elements

It’s a good voice but it’s hard to follow unless you really focus on him. If your distracted it just comes off as bland and even. Try varying the pitch and volume a bit, especially in matters of importance. Right now he just does a flat monotone.

Love the content 00. Would love to hear you do a breakdown of Sgt Johnsons career. Also, during your video on greatest Spartans of each class, you neglected one candidate I've at least suspected. CPO Mendez.... Seems to me like he's every bit the warrior that Johnson is, and Mendez is badass enough to train and earn the everlasting respect of 2 generations of Spartans. Plus I believe it was Colonel Ackerson who said "it takes a Spartan to train Spartans"....this would make Mendez being an Orion Candidate even more plausible as he was selected to train the 2's and 3's. Just my thoughts. Cheers buddy. Keep up the great work.

Imagine if the assembly didn’t interfere, the UNSC might have been able to usefully reverse engineer some forerunner tech sooner/ before the Human-Covenant War and faired much better in the conflict...
how does grunt armor function? like i know they breathe methane and they have that mask, but what about the rest of it

I have the short answer: It's basically an armored harness for the giant methane tanks on their backs.
@@angus57720 yup, with their exo skeleton and low ranking they are not given proper armor by the covenant.
@@Jeppe_P it honestly was kind of strange for the grunts to be the "expendable" units. They all have to be equipped with portable breathing harnesses, presumably there is a significant logistical strain having to constantly deliver methane to these grunts... It would make sense to expend all these resources if they were actually threatening, but they are used as an expendable cannon fodder.
I know that they apparently have a really fast reproduction cycle, and a huge population, but as far as the other species, they are probably the most expensive to support logistically. Even though they are given no armor, no "extra costs," they still have to carry around breathing units, you literally have to bring the very air they breathe with them. If your supply lines are disrupted, these grunts could suffocate in a few days.
I could see them being used as crew manning methane-atmosphere ships, or as a sort of "special forces for methane planets," but how they are used now is like if we used sapient fish to fight a war in the desert. We would need to constantly bring in tons of water, they would need special equipment to hold this water, and for what benefit? What advantage do they bring that outweighs the disadvantages? Numbers? Well, numbers just means you need to produce even more "useless for combat" gear, bring in even more methane, just to support their numbers. They are actually worse than regular foot soldiers, such as jackals or brutes, yet they seem to be given even more equipment in the form of their methane tanks.
@@MatthewSmith-sz1yq Not sure that's the case though. Their species has so many that the grunts themselves can tend to making the tanks, capturing the methane and the rest of the operation. Things only cost money if others charge you for it, but since the whole covenant is a religious cult I think all the tribes just do as they're told. Also I never heard any money talk in the covenant, they might be alien to the concept.
Are you telling me there was people aware of Onyx before Contact Harvest?
Yes. ONI covered it up. That's why after the Human-Covenant war they mobilise whenever they can to sezie Forerunner technology & facilities. They knew since the beginning.
I thought the Sentinels started attacking due to the destruction of Installation-04, and not the sudden disruption of Installation-05 firing.
Installation 04 never fired and was lost due to "natural causes". 05 was a cancelled firing.
I doubt that it would be in response to 04, and Onyx's destruction took place a few days or weeks after the Earth levels of Halo 2.
Installation 04 monitor was uploading new data, based on humans he encountered for reclaimers. That happened while the reactor was manually detonation by chief. Installation 05 had it inserted and suddenly removed, making it enter standby mode with a signal as stated by guilty spark.
The amount of matter that would be required to build Sarcophagus would be a significant percent of the matter in the galaxy, I would think.

I have no doubt that ONI likely began developing some sort of contingency plan as soon as they put two and two together and realized how the rings and the shield worlds worked, maybe even going so far as to have a list of people that were deemed worthy of being the last bastions of the human race, as well as detailed instructions on how to fire the rings and get said people to Onyx in the event of a catastrophic Flood outbreak.
Yes, chief had encountered and reported it but only sof couldn’t send what they encountered back.
Even though I’ve read the onyx book, I feel as though there’s so much lore that wasn’t explained the way you just did. ☺️

Would the Sarcophagus make a good hiding place for the infinity or does Cortana know about that too?
A few days after Cortana ultimatum first went out, a Guardian that human and Sangheili scientists had been studying within Sarcophagus/Onyx finally awoke. A three-way battle erupted within the sphere between the UNSC-Swords of Sanghelios defenders present, the Servants of the Abiding Truth, and various Promethean constructs that the Guardian unleashed. Ultimately, the massive shield world was kept beyond the reach of the Created due to the efforts of Spartans Lucy-B091, Tom-B292, and a small multi-species group of students. With the help of a Huragok, Prone to Drift, they were able to disable the Guardian and to once again hide Sarcophagus/Onyx within a slipspace bubble as it had been prior to 2553.
Imagine if Halo 4 took place on onyx and the mission was Bassicaly regroup with the survivors. Find out how to escape with everyone and save Cortana.
Could keep most of the story beats of Halo 4 and keep the entrance of the infinity for halfway through the game.
End it all with an escape from Onyx where Cortana has to stay behind to keep everyone safe. She gets to say goodbye on a hardlight bridge or something.
Then reemerge from Onyx and take it from there. Maybe a Human civil war has erupted?
Idk I think they could have done much better than Halo 4 and Halo 5.

@@Ghastly_Grinner there are videos. And yes many Orion subjects passed their abilities onto their kids. Making them spartan 2.0s actually. Oni attempted to kidnap some of these kids as well for the spartan programs.

Man I just fuckin love this channel. Dipping into the lore I always read about never really having anybody interested as I was or am. Feels like even though were all ages apart might was well be worlds apart we are all connected through this community like the Forerunner's domain.
So base on this information and the huge megastructure thousands of times larger then our own solar system I think the Forerunner could be a massive challenge with other hyper advanced civilizations that's like Interim Coalition of Governance level from Xeelee Sequence.

They are one of the most powerful sci fi civilisations out there.
Ancient Humanity is up there too.
But the Xeelee are on an whole other level, to take on the Xeelee you need something of Time Lords or Downstreamers levels of power

@@marcofava precursors were for all intents and purposes living gods. it is unlikely that a single precursor was actually killed when the forerunners rebelled. Sort of like you'd be hesitant to beat your son to death if he came at you with a kitchen knife randomly even though you are totally capable. if you're gonna compare advanced species to something like time lords or downstreamers i think the precursors are a but more fair of a comparison.
Why didn't the Forerunners make smaller more mobile versions of the Halo rings that served as short range to liberate solar systems of rich resources from Flood biomass then send in the Forerunner fleet to grab the system? Think about this idea would of been even more effective then the plan the Didact had with mobile military Dyson spheres of Shield worlds because they would be cheaper and more efficient. With thousands of smaller mobile short range rings that could slipspace in dense Flood space then immediately activate the ring cutting huge masses of territory from the Flood and liberating many worlds. The Forerunners should of done this early in the war plus anti artificial intelligence weapons like specially made EMP weapons would of helped against Mendicant Bias and any logic plauge AIs.
Thor's Hammer They were a highly technological and egotistical race, and don’t forget they were split up, there were even massive processes and groups that did what, and with the humans and flood invading them, it was kind of hard to organize something like that.

Well then they are tactically incompetent during times of crisis. This idea could of extremely helped them and completely turn the tables against the Flood. They had 300 years to plan.
Thor's Hammer To be fair, who would of thought a parasite, which they ignored until it was a minor threat, was able to beat a race that was universe wide.
Because the halos can't kill every form of flood, only the more complex ones.

Well timed for me since I've read Ghosts of Onyx up to section VI. Also Voro 'Mantakree must have been the luckiest Elite alive (before he dies at Onyx) as about a second after his fleet jumped to slipspace, the NOVA bomb yeeted the entire Covenant Flotilla, half of Joyous Exultation and the entirety of its moon into the next dimension. The Forerunners must have really wanted him to survive... either that or they really wanted to see Will-043 to be killed by Hunters.
Can you do a theory of cortana is working for the flood
There's quite a few theories out there and they aren't too different. Would be a cool way to bring the flood back, especially since their actual return has yet to happen
I think she is. She said she has rampancy however I believe that it’s actually the logic plague from when she was with the grave mind between halo 2 and 3.

Ghosts of Onyx is my favorite halo book Kurt had the best death of any spartan cold as ice though his decision to not put on his far superior armor before the battle still bothers me if his goal was to make sure his Spartans made it out of there he would have put the armor on

Can you do an in-depth video about the assembly and their actions and influences on galactic events? I’ve always been interested in hearing more about them.
How could the Forerunners build such a structure it must of cost millions of stars worth of materials to construct such a monster and even with their great production capacity it would of taken atleast tens of thousands of years to properly bulid every square mile of the structure and not only that but also keep it from collapsing into itself and forming a super massive black hole that kills everybody inside or nearby.
Maybe the precursors started building them and the forerunners took over after killing the precursors
The forerunners had the ability to manipulate time and space thanks to their mastery of slipspace, along with an army of trillions of autonomous constructs to do the work. With nearly infinite amounts of time, an unprecedented resource gathering capacity, and a workforce that never has to eat or sleep they could definitely get it done.

Not necessarily. There are some pretty dense fucking planets we've already found irl here and today. Like Kepler 10C. It's something like 1.5 times the diameter of Earth but 8 times the density and likely made out of tungsten, nickel, copper, iron, titanium and other really dense metals. It's ridiculous what we've found already with today's technology. Or I guess a decade's old tech at this point.

I wish we could get a Halo game where we play as Spartan IIIs in SPI armor.
It is though highly unlikely that any surviving forerunners not in stasis still live on the shield world as it has already been explained in lore that all forerunners had been withdrawn to the ark in the last days of the war, likely only a small contingency of forerunners was as well stationed on the lesser, more secret ark, those were the last forerunners that then left the galaxy, even though they would likely have numbered in the hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of forerunners, only a fraction of a percentage of how many forerunners seems to have been alive before the second outbreak of the flood. (that is, after the genocide on ancient humanity)

I wonder how much the UNSC would have faired against the Covenant if the Assembly would have allowed humanity to fully discover Onyx’s secrets. Would they have been able to reverse engineer the technology found with the discovery of the Hurogoks. Or would they have not made it too far without Halsey and the Spartans help given the push back they were getting from the sentinels?
Also I’m almost done with New Blood and I’m wondering if the Onyx Hurogok will have anything to do with Mjolnir Gen 3? The Hurogok seem to be their best technological defense against the Created. Especially the Hurogok of Onyx.

I know it's long after but I've been reading all the books, what happened to the sanghelli on onyx way back.

Do I need to read anything before I read ghosts of onyx? I’ve read the forerunner trilogy.
It's been awhile since I've read them, but I think you Ghosts of Onyx is fairly self contained and you wouldn't be lost really if you read it on its own, but there's stuff about the Spartan-IIs/Halsey/CPO Mendez and the origins of the Spartan-III program in The Fall of Reach and First Strike that add to Ghosts of Onyx a bit from what I remember.
The flood, fall of reach, and first strike all lead into ghosts of onyx, but i think the only plot points important to onyx outside of its book is how halsey and kelly get to onyx(end of first strike) and that Chief destroys installation-04 in halo 2. Other than that its a self contained and an awesome read.

I don't think that ancient humanity ever involved with the Sangheili or Jiralhanae directly. In Halo Origins when they show the firing of the Array, the Elites are shown in a city that personally reminds me of the Early Roman civilization and the Brutes appear as clans dwelling in the trees. So i doubt there was true interaction among the species

Are their any forerunners cities still alive anywhere? They seeded everything after the halos so I dont see why they wouldn't save themselves
If I remember correctly, it has to do with the mantle of responsibility. After their (essentially culling) of the human race, they were really hard on themselves with the whole "are we right for the mantle?" Bit. Forerunner-flood war happens and they create the halos. I figure this is when they decided they aren't worthy to live as a species (keep in mind there was only a handful of people left).
If you're entire existence is based on helping maintain life, but you decide you have to kill everything before that, would you really be worthy to keep the title?
Culturally & socially, they felt guilt for what they did. Many left the Milky Way to either Andromeda or further away to live a non-technological life as farmers or hunter & gatherers after the war.
It's not to say some would come back in future titles.
