Here's another Cleveland and New York matchup. This will be the last of these two for a bit...I hope. The dilemma is they're more common to be in the playoffs than anyone else and why shouldn't they be. They've proven their spots every time they make it there. But this time, the matchups are the opposite.
New York was the underdog team (sadly) in 2017 as this was their first ALDS appearance since 2012. This team was anchored by ROY winner Aaron Judge, shortstop Didi Gregorius, veterans C.C. Sabathia and Brett Gardner, power-hitting catcher Gary Sanchez, and of course, their flamethrowing closer Aroldis Chapman in his prime in his return to New York.
For the Indians, they just came off a World Series appearance and geared up for that same spot again. They acquired power hitter Jay Bruce at the deadline, along with signing Edwin Encarnacion in free agency and moving Jason Kipnis to center field for the playoffs, and bringing up young guys like Erik Gonzalez and Giovanny Urshela to be key infield depth players to All-Stars Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez. Their pitching was the same as in 2016, with Corey Kluber as their ace and Andrew Miller as their All-Star reliever with Cody Allen taking the reigns as their closer. With the well-needed return of Michael Brantley, this team is determined to make a second-consecutive World Series appearance. But how will they do it? Check this video out to see the results.
