Arizona, not expected to be a team that would go ANYWHERE near playoff contention during their rebuild, had made it all the way to the World Series. At that point, they were just happy to be there. A well-rounded team with youngsters like Alek Thomas, Corbin Carroll, Guillermo Perdomo, Brandon Pfaadt, and Gabriel Moreno, they made an immediate impact as soon as they were called up to the show. Mixed with more experienced players like Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Merrell Kelly, and Paul Sewald, they performed clutch when needed. The youth learned from veterans like Evan Longoria and Tommy Pham as they also had their key moments in the postseason.
Taking down the same LA Dodgers team that overcame them in the division standings in a clean NLDS sweep and finding miracle magic to beat the Philadelphia Phillies in seven games were enough to clinch the World Series. Imagine that. Imagine a team like Arizona, who had been on a 24-game consecutive road losing streak in 2021 and had one of the worst records in all of baseball, would make the World Series just two years later? I mean you can't write this stuff...
