2016 was the year for the ages, especially when it came to sports across the nation. Baseball is included in that conscription, as October baseball never disappoints...but this one was for the ages. Starting small in this postseason (not really), is the National League Division Series matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals.
The Dodgers won their division convincingly, showing to be an unstoppable force across America. With as many weapons as they have, it's a no-brainer that this is a championship team. Dare I say, as dangerous as their 1955 Brooklyn Dodger days. A starting rotation with Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill, and Kenta Maeda. A bullpen with Pedro Baez, Joe Blanton, and Kenley Jansen. An offense with A-Gon, Justin Turner, and Yasiel Puig. Young players like Corey Seager, Yasmani Grandal, and Joc Pederson. Veterans like Howie Kendrick and Chase Utley leading the team. A well-put roster for LA to make it to the World Series for the first time since 1988.
As for the Nationals, they're looking to fight their demons. Lately, they've either missed the playoffs entirely or somehow gotten eliminated in the first round regardless of who their opponent is. Although without Stephen Strasburg and the career year of Wilson Ramos, the team is already against the wall. Even then, the team is still very good. With an offense loaded with Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman, Jayson Werth, Daniel Murphy, and rookie Trea Turner, this team is nothing to scoff at. The pitching rotation is still sustainable, with Max Scherzer, Gio Gonzalez, and Tanner Roark. But the bullpen was great, unlike most years. They had Blake Treinen, Shawn Kelley, Oliver Perez, and Mark Melancon. The team was ready to prove their doubters wrong. But will it happen? Check it out in the video.
