When the warning light bings at you saying the side light is blown you think it's an easy repair, but on these models a bit more work is needed to repair the light.
BMW will only sell you the complete side light lamp for around £50, But it is possible to strip down the lamp to find a small 10 watt halogen bulb that can be replaced.

You sir are an absolute star. Thank goodness for people like you putting in the effort to help others out and with such detail in your video.
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Came here to say exactly the same. Thank you
So much easier than other taking the wheel and inner wing off. Did exactly as your video and perfect job done.
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I dont know how many sites I searched online and on youtube to find someone that has this same bulb as mine. Everyone else had a small, all glass bulb for 2008 3 series. Thank you Thank you Thank you for sharing this video and the bulb replacement. Same 10w bulb in US for mine. The noise the car makes when this bulb is out gets super annoying. There were parts I had to remove to get to this bulb including the tire, the original tire cover under the car, the housing over all the bulbs and then a housing over this particular bulb. Thanks again for sharing the details and bulb part number!
It’s a pleasure Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
What I like about this video is the honesty and learning on the job and also the drive to get the job done safely.
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
THIS IS THE FIRST INTSTALL IVE EVER DONE THATS EASIER IN REAL LIFE THAN IT LOOKS ON YOU TUBE,so happy
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi mate I'd like to thank you for this video. Took my car to Halford and a garage to get this sorted and both said I need a whole new light unit which was 300 quid. Watched your video and got a bulb for 4 quid and now its sorted so thank you very much.
Great to hear! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Brilliant video. Helped me swap out the driver side angel eye bulb with ease. Just one thing to note - the original Osram bulb has no lip on the metal casing at the base of the bulb, but my replacement did (Lumro). This stopped the bulb going far enough in. I gently pressed the lip all the way around with pliers until it fitted. Once in, it worked fine.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great step by step guide, so easy to follow. Literally just went outside in the dark with my phone light and removed everything to get to it in 15 mins.
However I can't get to the tiny T15 bolt on the white bulb housing to unscrew it since I haven't got a really short stubby driver handle. I'm going to try getting a small ratchet set from work tomorrow, hopefully it will have a 4 or 6mm socket so I can put that over the T15 bolt to undo it👌 I can just about undo the bolt closest to the engine but there's no way I could get the one nearest the wheel.
Oh well, at least I know how to take everything apart to get to it👍
One of the problems of having a 1 bed 1st floor flat, there's no room for tools! I guess I took for granted all my dads tools I had access to when I lived with my parents years ago
A workman is nothing without his tools, amazon prime here we come lol, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great explanation. I replaced mine today. The one improvement I would suggest is to use a 12v 5w mcc ba9s bulb Ring part no RINR469. This has opposing pins and fits easily into the holder. No filing required! Cost about £7 each from mill autoquip. Took me just over an hour to do, thanks to your great guide. 😊👍👍👍
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Awesome, thank you. Just failed my MOT due to angel eye bulb. Struggled to find a replacement and all I could find was upgrades. Even garage wanted £90 for replacement.
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Followed your instructions step by step and managed to do both lights in 40 minutes and saved me about 90 pounds..so thank you very much mate👍👍
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great informative video - my wife was quoted £750 by two garages to fix one lamp blown for the halo light telling her the entire light had to be replaced - after watching your video it took me a couple of hours and £15 - had to take wheel off - but its done - I take my hat off to you my man - keep the vide's coming.
Nice work! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Much appreciated mate fantastic info I did exactly what you did I done it all in 20 minutes I took it apart and added a new bulb instead of ordering the whole unit saved a lot of money thank you very much 🙏
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for taking the time to produce and post this vid. I couldn't get the bulb out of the front of the bulb unit so had to job the back bit and get it out that way. Couldn't have done it without watching this vid though, so my compliments to you brother, this was invaluable info and very well demonstrated.
You're welcome! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
holy crap ! Thank You !!! ive been trying to find out what ligjt this was for 3 days. also how to get it outbof its its socket ( wondering if it was even removable ) .
Awesome video and explanations thanks again 👏👏 bravo good sir ... bravo.
Glad I could help Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
A big thank you for this. I have a 2010 320D and both of mine went within 3 months of each other. I have saved over £100 but following your instructions.
Great to hear! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video, many thanks! My original bulbs were Philips 12024CP (BA9S H10W) and are now Osram 64113. Instead of disassembling the lens and taking the bulbs out the front, I took them out of the back and then modified the holder slightly to put it back together. If a bulb ever goes again, it will take two minutes to change, requiring only a new bulb, snips and a small Ty-Wrap. No more messing with T15 screws etc!
My modification is as follows: file/cut off the excess melted plastic of the two tabs of the core bulb holder to allow it to be pulled out easily. About 5mm from the back face of the metal portion, file/saw a couple of approx 3mm groves in the metal 'wings' of the holder where the melted tabs were, with the plastic core holder in place. This allows the holder to be reassembled using a small Ty-Rap, or similar, sat in the groves.
magic 👍🏻 Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Can you access this bulb from inside the wheel arch? Seems easier to just jack up and remove the wheel.
Not its all from the top on this one, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Much appreciated. I just bought the whole part but wanted to make sure I was buying the right one without taking everything apart twice haha. ❤
Glad I could help Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Legend. I had identical problem with taking it out 😅 but you found the solution that I couldn't with fitting them back in.
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I changed one myself but the only thing I did differently was remove the silver surround to just show the bulb, it’s plastic welded but with a bit of bastard they come off. I think you made the same mistake I did by buying a bulb at too low wattage. It works but really dim. I’ve got new bulbs for both sides now so I’ll let you know how I get on :)
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thank you so much pal for all the help. Wouldn't go anywhere without it. Cheers
No problem 👍 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
The bulb type must be H10W, BA9S this type has pins that will align exactly in the slots without the need to file one of them.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Just wanted to say a big thank you to ya. You saved me at least 90 pounds for this light fixture just by replacing the bulb alone. Even though I found the correct bulb I still had to file down, just a bit, one side of the holding terminals. Booom! Its all good now. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
Glad I could help, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi great video. I followed what you doing and I managed to change the bulb , and I purchased the one on your description but only about a month late it stopped working, looks like the bulb has gone again. Do you recommend a a better bulb would appreciate your help. Thank you
Just make sure the bulb has not dropped out, I did one and thought it was the bulb it turned out I hadn't clipped it in correctly as they are fiddly, A Branded Hella Bulb £15 amzn.to/3Tbz9Ai Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 thanks I will order a new bulb the £15 quids one and then check it if it’s just loose or burned out. But thanks for your message and support.
Correct bulb is 233 or T4W, same bulb with two straight pins at 12/6 o'clock. I recommend connect light, turn on checking bulb working, before attaching everything bcak together. Still fab vid :)
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Grand job, just replaced it on a 318i e91, airbox is on the otherside so half the job done before started, thanks
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video. Thanks. It will work for both sides or its different on the other side
Same, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Those little halogen bulbs last for ages. I had mine replaced by a local garage (£35 each) a year ago and one of them has gone again.
Yes. Ages.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
really useful video. many thanks
If I can add some value, in my experience most of these angel eye bulbs (without xenon) are 10 watts.

Thanks Gaz for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I have a side parking light error (and lamp is off one side) on the side that is difficult to access in E90. (it is not the Angel eyes, as I have already got it changed to LED and it works).
Q1: Can I access those small bulb H6W without going through the whole disassembly? How, and where is this bulb located?
Q2: There is a small horizontal cylinder above the light box, with a white plastic hex screw, which is easily accessible. You can see it in the video too. What is this? Could it be the access to the side parking light??
Thanks.
This one only has the angel eye as a side light, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 Thanks!!
Excellent video! But the lamp should be Philips 12082 12v10w. Osram 64113 could replace it
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Spot on couldn't of gone better took me 10mins 👍
Great news well Done Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

@@aaanton11 thanks! My drivers side is out and annoying the hell out of me. I don't own the tools to go in from the wheel well. So glad i found your video. Either way my chubby hands are gonna take a beating.

Do you want to put a led bulb instead of normal one or do you have led as standard Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
what a genius you are!
Thanks a million
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I'd have checked that the light worked as soon as I had the bulb in by clipping in the connector block and putting on the ignition, rather than reassemble the whole job then check it at the end
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
can i do same thing for my E87 ?
I have lens in both low and high beam (xenon headlights)

@@aaanton11 wood auto part no for 10w bulb is blb433b
@@aaanton11 He's got a point -- they're 10W. Osram #64113, vs #64132 you got. The way you can tell -- and the nice thing about getting the right bulb, other than the higher brightness -- is that the pips on the bayonet are at 180deg, like the original, so you don't have to file anything down. The 10W bulbs are a little harder to find on Amazon, but online bulb shops have them available for super cheap. Hope that helps if you have to do one of these again!
Oh, one more tip: once I finally yanked the old bulb out, I filed a small notch into the inner lip of the reflector where one pin would go in, so I could slide and twist the new one in much easier (and take it out if I ever have to redo the job.)
Thank you. I bought a two pack of "H10W 10W BA9S 433B Angel Eyes Parking Light Halo Rings Halogen Bulbs" for £5.95 which fit exactly (with the 180 lugs) and the correct brightness. Only issue was trying to fit the bulb and getting it to click into place and stay secure. After several attempts I got it though.
Help me . Thanks
How can I help you? Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
1st of all, fuck BMW for not using LEDs for the angel eyes on this one. Also, the halogen headlights on the E90/E91 are just awful. I've had better lights on a Corsa.
