Well I used your videos to kick my ass into dressing better and just overall making me feel better about myself. Now I have so much fun experimenting with different clothing items.
Ladies and gentlemen...showing of and recommending other people in your line of work is a true sign of professionalism...it shows that not only do you value your clients and competition, you're really in it to help the person you're working with achieve his goal, rather than working for him to profit of them...thanks again, Antonio, it's always a pleasure to watch
I think that the best option for those with budget issues is sites like this and Alpha M. The volume and quality of information for those willing to research and take action is incredible. Thanks for sharing.
+Jim D Exactly! There are plenty of resources for men to improve their style and not all of them are going to cost you money. A motivated individual doesn’t have to look far to find sources of inspiration.
Great video Anonio, I agree fully. A lot of my clients find it to be a very fulfilling and valuable use of their money, but for those whom can't afford it you offer some great alternatives. It can be like going to a doctor or relying on Web MD.
+New England Style Consulting You're very welcome sir! There are plenty of resources for men to improve their style and not all of them are going to cost you money. A motivated individual doesn’t have to look far to find sources of inspiration.
I think watching youtube videos is more than enough to significantly improve your style. You might need an image consultant if you are extremely busy, if you can afford it and if you do not have much knowledge about style, all together. That`s my opinion on it.
Antonio, I appreciate the content you produce and the value that it has! Following your style advice has made me a more confident person! Your commitment to helping men become more style educated is unmatched! You always have my sub.
Due to your advice I not only got a job, they made me a supervisor the first day. I then switched to driving a truck over the road. I then got a job in the corporate office. The job is in Iowa. I am sure nobody here watches your channel.
I think it would be amazing if more men worked with consultants and I am planning on working with one myself at some point this year. I don't think you need to spend a lot of money on a consultant, but the thing that I LOVE about paying for a consultant is that you are helping a small business, your money is going straight to the person you are talking to. That is such a satisfying thing for me.
When I'm passionate about something, I can quickly learn about it, so a lot of the free info I find (such as your articles, Antonio) I store and apply based around my personal style. Speaking of the best dressed man in my life, my dad dresses very well. He has some of the best suits and sport jackets I've ever seem in life. But when I ask him for advice, he says I don't need to dress so sharp.
I think the best way to look better is to find someone who is real and unfiltered with you. By that I mean doesn't hold back. If u look bad or it needs changing someone needs to tell you. For me that is my wife and I. When she tries something on i tell her flat out if its right or not and she does the same. Our rule is that we'd rather hear it from someone who genuinely cares rather than not hearing it from a stranger.
+troutbum86 That's actually a good way to get an opinion if an outfit looks good or doesn't. I would say try reading from fashion bloggers to learn more about finding out what works for your body type and color: www.realmenrealstyle.com/style-consultation/
Great tips! I've been lucky to find great style channels on UA-cam and have a fashion savvy coworker who's willing to see me outside of work and help me dress sharp and avoid styles that aren't right for me. Free advice is great! BTW, nailed my first job interview in 9 years. Woot! I'm finally moving into my choice job field.
I think some men definitely need to use a style/image consultant, especially if they have no idea where to start. However, I think a lot of men can get away without any sort of style consultant. I don't image I would ever use a style consultant, mainly because of the free online resources like your website that are at my disposal. However, I have learned a lot about timeless style from my father, so I suppose I started with a leg up in the game. In short, I think it's a highly individualistic thing.
+Andrew Koontz And it really depends on you - A motivated individual doesn’t have to look far to find sources of inspiration. Here are other options: www.realmenrealstyle.com/style-consultation/
Yes, yes and again I say definitely yes! Just briefly I was recently with a friend of mine and while shopping I purchase a pair of wooden shoe trees he confessed he did know what they were or used for and even thought they were what the Dutch wore also he admitted he has no clue what sizes he wears here a man in his sixties with a lack of knowledge yes definitely "consultants" can be beneficial.
It depends on the guy. Some people just want to understand why certain things "fit" together and resemble their personality. These people do need a buddy/sound board to educate them. That can be paid but also be a good salesperson.Other (and most) people just follow what is said to them, they are better helped by following their wife.
+Real Men Real Style I like you and alpha M but please do consider doing a video on high end leather alternatives for Ethicaly minded men like for instance I heard of Willis shoes
Can I ask you a question? Why do videos about style always imply a suit, or other upperclass clothing? ofcourse, they give a certain positive signal, but on the other hand every stereotype has a negative side. I know that most people think that suit=class, but does that make that you need a suit to have style? Everybody has a clothing style, a suit is not the only 'style'. At your site you have a section called 'casual' but I don't see casual clothing there. Yes, there are casual shirts for everyday use, but why not talk about V-neck T-shirts and other casual stuff? Style is more than shirts and suits. For me, shirts and suits are more for special occasions. A casual shirt is something I would wear for a special family dinner (such as christmas dinner and such, because most of my family will wear a casual shirt than and not such high end formal shirts), a suit I would wear for anniverseries and such kind of formal parties, and for oral examination, or job interview... My taste is simple: plain t-shirts, plain denim and cotton trousers, plain cardigans, plain jackets... I also like cargo trousers, but the problem is that I had only found 1 cargo trouser that fit my taste, which is damaged fter an accident so I only use it to work in the garden. When entering a shop, I directly sort the clothes in 3 categories: the ones that are not my colour nor my taste, the ones that are my colors and are my taste and the ones that are my taste but on the edge of being my colour. The last 2 categories are the one that I will try out. as I said, my taste is plain stuff because I like to blend in. I don't need to stand out of the crowd by wearing a suit. I know that a suit would give people the idea that 'you made it in life' and 'that you're wealthy' (can be both positive and negative), but I prefer to stay modest. I don't want to impress people by my clothing, I want to impress them with who I am, I prefer them saying 'I did underestimate you the first time that I saw you' over 'your suit gave me high expectations' (which can also be something negative). And I know that maybe I miss chances because I didn't wear a suit, but would I care about those chances if they were just centered about the expecations created by me wearing a suit, if it would mean that I would need to feel uncomfortable (because for me a suit is uncomfortable, even the high end ones, just nothing for me being obstructed in my movements). Yes I would wear a suit for important situations, but even than I would think about modesty, so no eye catching colours, no eyecatching tie an stuff, no, I would prefer working with subtility. You can upgrade a plain style by adding some accents, it is like wearing a shirt and suit with or without tie. Accents can be easy, such as a tie-pin or the chain of a pocket watch or other accessoires. That is one of the reasons why I like my clothing plain colored, it can be very modest but it can also be easely upgraded by small accents. If you have for example a shirt with checkered print/pattern, it will make that your tie can not have whatever pattern. It also make that even a small amount of accesoires can give a to busy impression. And also, your clothes can accentuate something of your body. It can show your fitness-body, it can show your fat, and it can even accentuate your eyes (I have a aqua blue shirt which accentuate my blue eyes)... Even though my style is very basic, I am actively thinking about it. I prefer to wear warm colors, but for example my aqua blue shirt is not a warm colour but accentuate my blue eyes so I use that as an advantage. I also think about functionality, I want to be able to do what I want to do. Is that moving around a lot, I would definitely not wear a shirt nor a suit (that's why I only wear them if there is formality involved). I prefer blending in over standing out, because than I can impress people more with who I am, it will give a signal of modesty which is positive in my eyes (it can be negative and I'm aware of that). It is not that I would go underdressed, I just don't want to go overdressed (I hate it when I have to). Going underdressed I would only do to make a statement (which gives positive and negative reactions and I'm aware of that, so I won't do that often). I like your videos, I take them as advice for formal dressing, but I lack the real everyday side of the story. A casual shirt with a pull can be fashonable, but I don't feel comfortable in them, and it kind of blocks my movements. If I had to reanimate someone (as a medicin student I will have to when such a moment arrives), I would be better of with my style of comfortable casual clothing than being in a suit of shirt that impacts my movements.
Antonio, In reality depending on if the Average Joe is really average? Myself a gentleman who lives in a rural small town who is (respectfully) light years ahead of the rest of the male population in style. I honestly say no need for a paid consultant beyond your/others videos, thank-you.
I am thinking I want to hire one as 30 and finally having money to play I want to find some long term outfits that will give me a good ten years of wear and I want them to look good on me.
I would guess an image consultant is the absolutely fastest way to learn about style, furthermore I predict that it's also a safe bet. But if you have time, I really think you don't need one. You can learn more than enough by reading, watching and listening to great videos, articles, and friends!
