Thanks for the vid don. For years, I have been thinking that the saw frame was not rigid. I never did like the open frame (cheap) design. The original was far better

Hey Lyle, you said it best.. The Delta 14" needs more mass. They're good saws if you don't have space for a DoAll or Powermatic, but like anything else that is built on a budget and a compromise, they're always going to do better with a few mods. You were dead right about that frame being too spindly as well. Funny, my Craftsman saw didn't have a lot of mass, but that large clamshell design really made it quit stable. Too bad it doesn't swallow up larger pieces. Anyway, glad you caught this. Be seein you soon. Don

Drinking my coffee and watching somebody else work. I almost feel like I'm back in the Navy. Good to see you posting. Could you tell us what brand, type, tpi and size blade you are using to cut metal?

Thanks Bruce, Its an ongoing obsession with me to get this saw to work better than the factory designed it for. Don

The old cast iron design for band saws are known for flexing. In woodworking, it's more difficult to do serious resawing of wide boards, which is why the better bandsaws are the European style. Looks like you now have a hybrid saw. Great job!

Hi Don, nice job. Gotta be stoked with those results. Sure like seeing you use that plasma welder again and how it handled that cast iron. Glad you put the name of it in the description. Want to check it out. Thanks

Ya, I was really happy to see it tighten up so well. It really cuts like a champ now. All that added mass made a real difference.

Excellent job, Don. It runs smooth as butter. I would have filled it with black epoxy. But there are many ways to solve the problem. Came out great in the end. TOP.👍

Thanks I've really come to appreciate having a heavier arm up there. Its really cuts nicer than I expected it could.
