Ah. Stryper. The first Christian Metal Band. They hail from Riverside, CA. My favorite song by them is the title track of their debut album. Soldiers Under Command. Awesome guitars, vocals, and drums. They had absolutely beautiful ballad on their EP released before their first album. It's called First Love. They were HUGE in Japan, but didn't have the success they deserved in the U.S. imo. And yes they do hit those harmonies live. Fun side note. They did release an album that was entirely cover songs. They did some Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, Kansas. Lots of great stuff. Heck, they even managed to rock out the Christmas Carol, Walking In A Winter Wonderland. One of my favorite drummers...Robert Sweet. Nicknamed The VISUAL time keeper.
Seen a documentary, where Stryper played alot of the same places as other hair metal bands back in the 80's, and befriended alot of those bands, even though they were Christian rock, the other bands respected them for standing up for what they believe in, and their message. They would throw Bibles out to the crowd, instead of albums. They actually got along with most of their peers in the 80's.
Great reaction! This song was on Dial MTV daily most requested songs for months. It was very popular in early '87. This one with other hits kept them on the most requested list on MTV for over a year.
This song is from the same album as "To Hell With The Devil", which you've already listened to. If you'd like to hear a ballad from Stryper, check out "Honestly". Some other rocking songs from them include "Soldiers Under Command", "The Way", "Free", "Sing-Along Song", "Rockin' the World", "In God We Trust", and "Always There for You".
Stryper! The ONLY 'religious' music I ever listened to and FULLY enjoyed! I actually bought the cassette and wore it out. The 80s were the best! You should do 'Honestly' by them! We would blast this on MTV after school!
They have a few awesome rock ballads! ‘Honestly’, ‘ l’ll Be There For You’, and ‘I Believe in You’ my favorite songs by them!!❤❤❤ Love your guys’ reactions!❤❤
I am an Old School Stryper fan. I am the son of a Baptist minister here in Oklahoma and he limited the kind of music I could listen to and he allowed me to listen to Stryper. They were literally the first concert I ever went to. I saw them in Tulsa for the In God We Trust Tour. They were my first concert T-shirt too. I just watched a video series of Stryper less than 6 months ago and they still have the chops. Michael Sweet can still hit the high notes! But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:3.

Of all the 80´s hard rock bands, Stryper is the one that is actually in best form. Michael sings even better these days, and they are still regularly releasing new albums that are as good or better than their 80´s material. I think they are currently recording another new album. If you want a great Stryper ballad, try with "First love". If you want a banger of their newer material try " Yahweh", one of their best songs.

He’s the real deal and great guy. You should review To Hell With The Devil. Great song and a bit heavier with great vocals. Thank you for this!!
Michael Sweet was once on the Eddie trunk show. In the interview, Eddie trunk talked about how someone gave him a Stryper album. he and his friends used to cut and snort lines off of it with a razor blade. One day they decided to give it a listen while they were high. They liked it so much they went and bought another one to listen to, and then also continue to cut and snort lines off the other one. 😂

I was already a fan but this song really made me dig them back in the day! I still see them in concert often.
Saw these guys a couple times and was able to get one of their “Stryper” bibles the first time I saw them.
So many good songs… quality musicians and Michael Sweet’s vocal range is CRAZY!
Next one you should do is their cover of Earth Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star”. Sweet’s vocals in that are insane!
My favorite band when I was in high school. My car was even yellow and black and I would blast striper all the time.💛🖤💛🖤💛
Ah.
I used to play guitar to this album end to end. Saw them in concert front row at Radio City music hall! It was an amazing show
Stryper is amazing!
Robert Sweet (Drummer and Singer's Brother) was among the first to insist on having his kit sideways on stage so the audience can see him.
Great reaction! This song was on Dial MTV daily most requested songs for months. It was very popular in early '87. This one with other hits kept them on the most requested list on MTV for over a year.
We had a pianist play "Honestly" at our wedding with my sister and maid of honor doing the vocals. Great band!
Always there for you is my favorite Stryper songs ✝️🤟
Stryper just rocks!!!!saw them live a few years back & they blew me away at how heavy & anthemic they are 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Grew up as a kid with them. Saw them 13 times live. Sound awesome and still rocking.
With the exception of Amy Grant and Petra, I'd agree with this.
They have a few awesome rock ballads! ‘Honestly’, ‘ l’ll Be There For You’, and ‘I Believe in You’ my favorite songs by them!!❤❤❤
Love your guys’ reactions!❤❤
I first heard this song on Dial MTV, when they played videos.... Always there for you was a great Stryper song.. 🤘
Always there for You by Stryper is a must!!
What town in Oklahoma are you from? I'm from ok too. Saw Stryper on their last show in Tulsa at IDL Ballroom in 2018. Killer show. They're one of the few bands from that era that still got it.
@@tambor76 I live outside of Bristow but I’m originally from Sand Springs it’s been a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time since that show I saw. They played the Tulsa State fair way back in the 80s. I listened to Stryper, Novella, Deliverance, Seventh Angel. It’s been so long ago when I see videos of them it takes me back.
@@seandobson6221 - Have you listened to any of their newer music? They're still excellent.
@@tambor76 nah it’s been a long time. I watched that video of them recently and was impressed Michael was still able to hit those high notes.
Isaiah 53:5 not verse 3
Christian rock, yes, and also just one of the best Rock bands from the 80s, love their music.
Michael Sweet's vocals are so darn great!
YES! Great choice! I saw Stryper on this tour in early 1987 and their harmony vocals sound just like the studio version. Absolutely amazing in concert. Rob Squad, Stryper has a big catalog of hits. Lots more to go. And yes, Stryper is Christian band
Michael Sweet has one the best rock voices period and the man can still belt out the notes he did when this song came out.
Now you guys are really taking me back in time! Love Stryper! Played their song Honestly at our wedding back in 1990! Yes,they can rick out,and shred on their instruments, and yes they were boldly proclaiming their trust and belief in God! If you want to dip into some really cool Contemporary Christian music, may I suggest Crowder! The song and video called,Run devil,Run! is super cool!
Stryper, christian, metal band! Michael, sweet, and his brother Robert sweet( drums, ), learned to sing in church! Their vocal melodies, are incomparable, no one does them like stryper! Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson, Anne Wilson, Rob Halford, Karen Carpenter, pat benatar, CJ Snare, and possibly the most underrated , of these 😍 amazing vocalist,: Michael sweet! More styper! What a treat, first slaughter, now stryper! I love my 80s. Rock and metal! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The first time I saw Stryper live was back in 85 at Knott's Berry Farm in SoCal.
They took off a year later
Seen them in concert a few times, awesome show they put on, Rock the house, good review from you guys 👌😎🤘🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁
Metal Gospel, there concerts rocked in the 80's. 🤘🤘
Stryper the only 80s metal band that still is putting out great music today. Check out the FINAL BATTLE album
Growing up in the 80's to now..Stryper has always and will be my number one band!! Michael Sweet (lead singer) is like no other!!.. keep up the great reactions 👍
Divider by Stryper is one of their current songs and worth a reaction! love you guys and the pureness of your hearts! Keep going….
Just saw Stryper at the M3 festival. We go every year. You should look into it, a great weekend of hairbands!
Stryper is a great band that does Christian metal still to this day. I was fortunate enough to have the singer, Michael Sweet produce an album of my old band Savannah.
