Great video! Very much needed for understanding why things happen. Being an old man who is not a pro fisherman only for fun, I would never make a run across the lake and beat myself up. I put in at the closes ram where I want to fish. Be safe and have fun. Thanks.
Very interesting, I love these videos regarding navigation as much as your awesome fish catch videos, thank you for both. I think it's a product of too many boats (people) in Florida that don't respect the nature difference's of given lakes, the difference's are huge from lake to lake. You HAVE to educate yourself on any body of water that you plan to navigate.
Thank you so much for telling those people to get out of the boat trails. It's a pain in the ass to slow and hit..... I run Way North on the the of clewiston. Hate when you see them right in the middle of the boat trails I fly right by then....... The same at headwaters..... Thanks for telling them that I am a recreational fisherman try to get out there every Saturday and you start to see how's our there every weekend. The greenhorns are out there so fly by them.......🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Great video Sir 🤠
On the south end of the lake, I forget which cut into the rim canal it was but there was a big boulder right in the cut. I had run through there so many times with no problems but one day I fished my way out and saw it. I was thinking how lucky I was to never set down there going into or out of lake. The Big O can be quite treacherous especially when it’s low.
I was thinking about coming down for the month of June . My boat will get up in 2’ feet of water would I have any trouble getting around, I also have hydraulic plate so I can jack it up.
I love your videos. Not sure if I agree with ya on this one. If you have a jackplate, trim tabs and trim on your motor you surely (especially in your boat) can come off pad in a foot and a half of water and not damage props etc. sounds more like people don’t want the hassle of doing the right thing. Coming off plane to idle by or for that matter get out of the running lanes when they see a heavy footed boat driver coming. That’s obviously my opinion but won’t make me stop watching your good vids. 👊🏼👊🏼
@@tightsplicecharters9976 yeah I get it. We get ran over all the time where I live in Charlotte Harbor. Sometimes I run over people when there’s no other option. My point was that when we’re on plane running it’s our responsibility as drivers to do whatever we can to not run someone over. Getting towed in is definitely no bueno. We’ve all been there I am sure. 😞
This video was great. I’m coming down next week and I’m still nervous anywhere on the lake. My visits aren’t long enough to have my rig laid up in a shop, so I’ll probably be trolling everywhere. Thanks for the info.
Bro you've been putting out some content love it. Finally the lake coming down we noticed last weekend for sure. Keep up the good content awesome job bro
This is good to know I have a new Bass boat and get mad whenever someone is fishing in boat lane and I slow down and then have to get back on plan. No more slowing down. Thank for the information.
well said Cody. These out of town guys do not troll away from the boat trail when I run by and as you said I am not coming off plane for them since they don't understand the lake. I hope they watch this. Last week no less than 10 boats were in the boat trail. Ugh
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!! I was down there this week and got confronted for this exact thing!! I told him "Dude, I cannot come off plane there!!". Guy didn't get it, but if you're fishing the boat lanes ya gotta deal with boats!
Used to be, a boat owner knew how to "drive" a boat other than just nailing the throttle and getting up on plane then balls out and whomever or whatever was in the way just had to deal with it. If your generation spent the time learning "how" to navigate water and selectively tailor your driving to the conditions and obstacles that come about as you do on electronics and bashing real fishermen, you'd be might be considered a person who comprehended things when you were growing up. Funny you use the analogy of traffic because in this case, courtesy goes to the "fisherman" trying to "fish", more time than often the objective when folks are on the water.
I am willing to bet you have never even been on Lake Okeechobee. Also, i do not have a SINGLE graph on my boat. So don’t talk to me about spending time learning electronics.
Never realized the lake is like this.....thank you for the info....very useful

Thanks again...I have watched the first map tour video several times...can never be safe enough. Tightlines!

Awesome video. Where would you suggest to launch with a fishing kayak? Thanks.

Even with all of that, if you come around a corner, sometimes you don't have time. Example, me today, having to get towed in lol. No bueno

Great job. Is the safest way around traveling the rim.
A boat trail is NOT a marked navigation lane. So it is their right too fish there as much as you running there.

Do you do guides on this lake? I’m from NY and my Dad and I might come down In the summer to fish it but want to do a guide first, let me know thanks!
I am!
Gr8t vid brother, this is the info everyone needs to hear!! I love your stuff because it's straight up, no BS, keep them coming!
I launched my kayak from South Bay and the boats were zipping !
Thanks for the info Cody I will keep that advice burned into my brain

Thank you so much for this info. I am moving to Okeechobee and will heed this info.
This video should be required viewing for anyone with a boat visiting the lake or they should have bulletin boards at the ramps with this info!

Common sense is hard to come by these days...a lot of times...coming off of plane makes more wake than going by fast on plane.
Thank you for the info captain

The lake has been maintained at too high a level for too long. Native vegetation has struggled to come back. It's too bad
I'm mooning you next time you run by me lmao #mooncody
Thanks Cody! For the info.. It just happened at the kotg round 2. Where they just sit there like their bobber smh 🤦
I can sell you a great priced microphone to punch up the audio quality of the videos
