I've owned SARX035 and SARB033, and the black dial SUR311 gives those two a run for their money, albeit comparing a quartz to auto's. The brushed+polished case and dials on the SUR's are just about as nice as the aforementioned automatic baby GS's, you get Sapphire not Hardlex, applied indices and logo, and the 8.3mm width is awesome. The SUR's lack a signed crown, and the bracelets are stamped not solid (wins points for being super easy to size tho), but all the same, for $150, you can't go wrong here.
I bought the titanium version of this at around the same price range. It is extremely light. I love it! The lume is pretty much worthless after a short amount of darkness. Extremely good value on a handsome watch.
So Seiko will put sapphire on these watches but not watches that cost three to four times as much? I honestly have no idea how they get away with stuff like this.
Agreed it really does boggle the mind when they will put sapphire and use titanium in these $150 watches but you get hardlex in $500+ watches it's a true WTF moment

@@icalexander watchfinder compared omega moonwatch with sapphire and hardlex, and plastic one makes better visibility. Also I have Junghans max bill and the dial wouldnt be that clear with a sapphire i guess
Bought the Gold one yesterday. Reminds me of a Rolex Oyster Perpetual. Good daily watch, ruggish, clean, kinda dressy, water resistant. What more do you want?
I just ordered the Blue titanium version. I think these are all gorgeous and I am kind of a watch snob. But I do like quartz also even though the great majority of my collection mechanical. I think these are junior Grand Seikos ! I just checked off my titanium watch off my bucket list! But these stainless are so blingy! Awesome!
I'm sorry I didn't notice these until now; the SUR317 is damn near impossible to find in 2023. The 40mm version is nice, but the 317 has one of the most beautiful blue dials I've seen. Reminds me of what the blue Grand Seiko Peacock uses.
Just bought the smaller one today, it looks crazy blue on this video but it's not that light in real life. For the money very nice watch and perfect for smaller wrists it looks like a 40mm on my tiny wrists

Do you know if there are any 3rd party (i.e. Strapcode, Uncle Seiko, Watch Gecko, etc) steel bracelet options for the SUR309 (40mm)? The stock bracelet is okay, but I think it would look pretty sweet on an Oyster bracelet. If so, I'm all in.
Damn you Avg Bro! I have a bunch of tool-ish watches and something about this classic dressy timeless look just got me. Really helpful size comparisons between the two. It looks like they don't really offer the SUR319 anymore so that made the decision to go SUR375 easy.
Would prefer them on leather rather than on the cheap bracelet. I purchased a SUR344P1 on a nice leather strap. Very nice watches. 100m WR and Sapphire, nice specs.
Could Seiko just add solar for a home run? Withdraw the 40 ( perhaps both ?) & replace with a 38 with both options of dial, or just the blue of the 36...not asking for much but they'd obsolete some of their current models which have split the features of these but not hitting the target , for me.
Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGA105 has a blue dial that seems like a blend of both these dials. I LOVE the dial on this little 36‼️ 😳Maybe more than the GS (in close up videos at least)🤔😉 Evokes a color/feel like the Rolex Deepsea dial IF IT COULD SHIFT AND CHANGE- which it CAN’T!🤯 A magical little watch for the masses👍👌. I’m starting to feel lucky to have a 2” wide wrist😄 Thanks for the great review

I’m looking at a Seiko SUR145 on eBay and looks like the SuR 309, but instead of 49mm, it’s a 44mm. Also says 100 on the bottom center. Strange I can’t find a video on UA-cam and why I’m looking at this one.

I really like both of that sapphire crystal Seiko quartz watches. Eversince, I love and used Seiko brand watches. Gold plated automatic, Seiko diver's automatic and now I am using Seiko quartz sapphire crystal 36mm. I discovered and proof that Seiko watches are very good quality and durability wise. . . I prefer to use Seiko quartz movement, because it's more accurate. And one more thing I like is the battery life will last for 3 years.
Heh. As you say the list price is mid to high 200s, but Jomashop always does better. I don't mind them either and have purchased three Seikos from them. Only thing is they do take ages to deliver overseas. The blue dial 36mm 317 is already out of stock :(. Silver versions look good too. I particularly like the fact the minute and seconds hands reach the peripheries of the dial. Thumbs up from me, and a real competitor to the SNXS77/SNK Seiko 5 ranges.

Great looking everyday watch. I don’t get what’s so hard about throwing a NH35 movement in these and giving them a proper bracelet? Tons of microbrands and aliexpress brands offer those specs for under $250. I love Seiko/Orient and even own them, but they’re always cutting corners on specs one way or another and it really makes no sense. How much more is a decent bracelet to manufacture, $10? Just throw it on there and charge $50 more for the watch. The market isn’t so price sensitive to where they won’t pay a litte more for a bit of quality. Seiko doesn’t seem to grasp that.
@@miliusrex11 That's all good. But there's a huge segment of the market that wants Automatic. Hence why we follow channels like this (most of the reviews being on automatic watches). Perhaps Seiko could give people an option of getting it in either and capture both markets, however that's probably unlikely.

Once again they have ruined the smaller (women’s) watch. That horrid bright blue is really off putting. Why can’t they just do smaller versions of the men’s watches. Women are not emotionally or intellectually stunted. We don’t need everything over bright and shiny as for a toddler. A real woman would however require a total absence of pink.

sne039 is 37.5 mm. No sapphire.

I think they came out with the 36mm with the darker blue dial and quartz movement, sapphire glass. Search SUR317P1.

I think a Presage/Prospex quality solid bracelet would cost a lot more than $10 to manufacture, would probably add $100 to the msrp at least.
