    Great daily driver which can be regulated to good accuracy. Mine was quite magnetised when it arrived from Amazon by post and running at +20spd. After demagnetising it now runs at +- 2 to 4spd worn which is amazing for a low cost automatic so worth checking yours with a compass.

      Seems possible. I had my 1962 Omega Seamster Deville returned by post after a full service in 2018 but it was running faster than when shown on the watchmakers completed service timgrapher picture. Again a quick Wiz over the demagnitiser & watch accuracy came back to +/- 2 sec per day. Excellent for a 60 year old automatic watch.

I am saving it for a dress watch, so it is actually good that is an auto and not a quartz. No battery to die between uses and it only needs to be accurate for a few hours at a time. What a good looking watch.

I did see one going for around $188. and it was modified with a bubble Safire crystal and the jagged Rolex bezel or the edge thing around the crystal and a jubilee band. Looked really like a Rolex and nice. Didn’t know they had those parts to mod or maybe this watch fits the after market Rolex Oyster parts.

    I always thought a dress watch should hide under the sleeve so in this case it will be hard to call it that way. On the other hand everyone has a different wrist, I e. g. have it more sunken so the watch does not stand out so much (I have Citizen Promaster and Seiko 5KX which case is similar and it sits quite right). You can reduce the thickness by about 0.9mm if you replace the glass caseback with a solid metal one from
      the 7s26-0060(o/dia 32mm x 29.9mm screw dia).According to my research online you can also adapt most of the
      solid casebacks from Seiko 7009 series with a 29.9mm case screw without interfering with the selfwinding rotor movement. I am expecting delivery of an extra 2 different, lower solid metal casebacks which will hopefully skim
      off a little more. If you are not concerned about losing the glass caseback(the 7s26 is a workhorse and not exactly
      decorative),or not having matching model/case numbers,I personally think,every effort made in reducing the overall
      height of this watch will lower the lugs to the wrist and increase the aesthetic appeal of this timepiece, whether you change the strap or not.

    I bought a SNXS79J on the back of all the hype. There are reviews from about it from big UA-cam channels like Watchfinder & Co., Adrian Barket etc with a similar title to Jenn's. I can't believe the hype train around this watch. How can anyone compare it to a Rolex Oyster Perpetual? I absolutely hate it. I own 10 Seikos including SKX007J, SARB033 and a Sumo. The SKXS79J is the worst Seiko I've come across. The main issue is the tiny case. It looks like a toy. At best it looks like a women's watch. It might be fine for "men" with women's sized wrists. The bracelet must be one of the worst I've seen. The recessed crown. The list goes on...
    It seems I'm the only person who doesn't like this watch. I just don't get it! I'm planning on returning it.

  • @UFCPR

    I do not recommend SNXS79K. Save $300 more and buy the SARB035, which is a real affordable luxury timepiece. The SARB035 has a better bracelet, better finish, sapphire crystal, 100 meters water-resistant. Yes, it cost $425.00 (Amazon/Sep2020) which is 3.2 times the cost of the SNXS79K and is worth it. The SARB035 will last you years if not decades, while the SNXS79K is going to be trash in a few years maybe months.

      Yeah, it appears that I forgot about the lume too 😅 and yes, it's crazy bright, very impressive for the price. This thing * is * a miracle. @tskwared667 6 років тому

      This is one of my first watches so I don't have any other experience with lume to compare to, but on my snxs the lume starts out very bright and then dims pretty fast to the point where I can only see it in pitch black within 10-20 minutes. It does last all night, but is extremely dim, is this how it's supposed to be?

    • @grindererrofficial3755
      @grindererrofficial3755 6 років тому

      @@tskwared667 its very hard to compare or claim like this, coz everyone has different eye "abilities", somebody has glasses or some problems. Even same type of watch can be different in many ways depends at age, air humidity in area where are watches mostly situated, depends even at mood of worker who assembled it or who aplied lume layers.
      I had several watches (automatic) in price range 60-2000 dolls and skx has very good lume and is in my TOP 5 lumed watches. My snx has realy good lume, as i said in my opinion same LUMIBRITE compound like in skx where it performs very very good.
      Lume at watches are not supossed to extremly shine whole night, its normal its dimming thru time, all compounds do same, important is that "residual light performance".
      Advice - to charge lume use UV flash light at for example 12oclock at night, you should be able to read time in 5oclock morning. Dont forget - night vision or night mode for human eyes needs to be switched on cca 10mins in dark. So let your eyes adapt to dark and you should be able to read the time.

Ironically the unbranded versions of the mechanisms sold to other manufacturers, watchmakers and hobbyists differ by having those features added back in so a decent clone might actually have those missing features.
    Note that the day (day of week) setting on a Seiko 5 is not adjusted by pulling the crown out but by pushing it in like a push button which can lead to accidental adjustment when you push the crown in after adjusting the time or date (day of month).
    Also, as with all mechanical watches, if it is running fast, have it demagnetized (degaussed) not adjusted. Most jewelers will degauss it for free and a degausser only costs $15. After being demagnetized, it will intentionally run slow but will speed up over time as magnetization is picked up and adjusting the time forward is less likely to wear out the gears then adjusting the time backwards.
    I really miss the stainless steel case backs. The modern glass backs just feels gimmicky to me. Besides, a lot of information are stamped on the case backs both inside and out.

    Good review, positive and enthustiastic style. No doubt that you love what you do. Beautiful watch; that dial is amazing. The bracelet looks like a Seiko SQ bracelet from the 80's or 90's - I remember buying one in '94 from new which had, if I remember correct, exactly the same bracelet and clasp. Maybe they wanted to give it a neo-vintage trait? Or a was it surplus of bracelets from then ;) Anyway your leather straps color looks nice with that dial and the polished case.
    So now we have a Submariner alternative in the Orient and a Daydate alternative in the SNX - to complete the trilogy we need a budget, quality mechanical chronograph. If it must be automatic, there are 2 options, the Valjoux 7750. The cheapest watch with this movement will probably be at least $750. Then there are the Chinese copies. Or should we go for a manual winder? One with the russian Poljot 3133, or a Chinese alternative. For example, the Alpha SG2903, which should be around $150 and looks like a lot of watch for the money.

    • @TimedSquare
      @TimedSquare  6 років тому

      Thank you so much for your message and support! I will explore some chronographs in the future but currently I'm more leaning towards G-Shocks which I find a lot of fun, too. Funny for a small-wristed guy, I know ;) I gifted an Alpha to my brother and the winding stem gave way just after a few months - weird since it is supposed to be a Miyota movement in there but now I'm not quite sure. A Poljot might do the trick because there are a lot of them, and fun too. Did I say that I want my collection to be fun? Thanks again and see you real soon! Cheers

    More like a Rolex OP alternative.... I REALLY wish Seiko would offer a no day/date option. I would go as far as getting an aftermarket no day/date dial for this. However, the cost of a $60-$80 dial from a Seiko mod shop and installation fee, is almost the cost of a perfectly functioning great looking watch.

    What's the difference between SNXS73K and SNXS79K (besides the color of course :-))? Because I just find the SNXS73K in my country (Brazil). Hello.
    I purchased the watch last week. In blue sphere. I changed the metal strap for a leather one like you.
    I don't know if it's my case, but the dial on the side, at 6 o'clock on the dial. It presents some marks or scratches caused by the fastening of the original metal strap. Specifically for the two metal extensions at twelve and six, which makes the strap fit perfectly to the spherical shape of the dial.
    Can someone confirm that this is so, that the original strap scratches the side itself. Observing these scratches if we opt for a leather strap.
    Thank you very much

For now though, I like the way these cheap, rattly stock bracelets feel unintrusive and feathery.
