As a Brazilian English teacher I can tell you how hard it is sometimes to make the students even aware of the existance of these sounds. Most Brazilians see absolutely no difference between the unstressed "th" sound and a simple "d" sound. I was one of them years ago...
Thanks for sharing!
I COULDN'T HEAR A DIFFERENCE EITHER EVEN THOUGH ENGLISH IS MY MAIN LANGUAGE.
😭😭😭
@@acutechicken5798 Native speakers don't really have to think about these subtleties since we just memorize them when we're little, so don't feel bad.
@@acutechicken5798Yes, it's true that native speakers of any language often don't pay much attention to slight differences in sounds because they can still understand the words based on context, even if someone mispronounces a sound.
With me from Vietnam, we have many kinds of pronunciation that differ from place to place.
"So what is the right pronunciation?"
I've never watched a video as explained as Rachel's. Congrats, Rachel. You're amazing. Great. 🇧🇷🌎🇱🇷
Brilliantly explained. this is so subtle but really makes a lot of difference given how I normally pronounce this sound in my native language
The best pronunciation videos I've ever seen! It's really helpful for me! I appreciate the efforts you made, Rachel!
You're very much welcome!

Thanks a lot!
I'm a native english speaker but recently got into learning middle and old english, I'm getting fairly proficient at reading + translating middle english, but I've been having trouble with the pronunciation of some words when it comes to letters we no longer use.
This video was very helpful and your voice is super soothing, especially since I've always had pronunciation problems (prob should've had a bit more vocal therapy as a kid haha)
