I’m glad it doesn’t look cheesy like the older aftermarket units looked
Just for the record; the bootup is quick because it doesn't switch off. it's always on half asleep and that's why it's ready when you turn the key. I believe after 2 or three days of the car not starting then it will switch itself off and you'll see the bootup logo etc.

I have an Xtrons unit which uses the exact same hardware and interface as the Avin unit.

How is the radio reception been told on the Android radios the reception not good esp on German cars, I will also request you review the I-bus app in depth otherwise great review and good job.. Keep them rolling
Radio reception has been just fine since installing the Avin. Uses the factory antenna connection so that’s kind of expected. I’ll be sure to post an ibus video when I can finally get one.
Hey how did you keep your illumination on because I already adjusted mine and it doesn’t stay on for a long time it turns off that’s one of the reason I bought this unit because of the cool lights you change too. Any help I would really appreciate it because Avin customer support can takes forever

Hi Brian! It does still effect the sound just as stock. So it’s a clean install all around! :)

Hi. How works at your radio fader on front and back and balans left/right. You only hear 1 speaker if you wont hear only 1, if set just only one?

I have the exact same unit. Mine is producing an audible hiss from right side speakers when the volume is not muted, but the unit does not play anything. And the hiss goes away when you press the volume knob to mute it fully. I can hear it very clearly coming from right side speakers. Did you notice that on yours?

Got an M3 with one of these already installed recently, trying to figure out how to get Apple Carplay setup... I don't have the Autoplay app installed, nor do I see it on the app store. Does it still exist? Is wired carplay available on this or just wireless with the dongle?
Do the unit's button backlights and screen dim when the car's headlights are on?
What’s the real life difference between the four different CPU options? There are PX4, PX6 and two different Qualcomm options.
I’d like to use fluent apple car play navigation. Will be the PX4 configuration sufficient enough?
Also: The base configuration does already include wired apple car play right? I only need to purchase the separate adapter if I need wireless CarPlay. Is that correct?
I can’t speak to the newer CPU options but the PX6 has been great and runs smooth with CarPlay. At the time I got mine, there were two adapter options that needed to be purchased for Apple CarPlay (wired or wireless dongle).
Thanks for making this video, I'm about to pull the trigger on a loaded one. Do I have to order either the black or white dongle to be able to connect the phone to the hu for Android?
They both will work. One is just wireless which in my opinion is worth it. As soon as I get in the car, the phone connects and CarPlay (in my case) opens right away.
does this have the option to turn on/off daylight driving lights?
buttons color are red or like factory orange?
They can be adjusted to match factory color using the color sliders.
Is it possible to match the color and brightness of the buttons exactly with the other bottoms like the climate control? Thanks :)
Yes it is - by default it is more red than the BMW orange, but you can manage to set to color correctly. You can't set the brightness though. Brightness almost completely matches the car's buttons' brightness when it is set to max.
hey RJ, looks good! question about the IBus app. From your install video, i noticed that you didnt install the IBUS USB adapter.. does that mean the IBUS app you mention here doesnt actually work on your head unit at the moment? I noticed that they are currently out of stock on the Avin website. Will you be doing another install video of how to do this in the future?
Hey Marcus! So AVIN doesn’t have the ibus adapters at the moment. There is a new adapter that was just released with more features. Those should be arriving shortly. I will try to get an adapter and maybe make a quick walk through video of the install and use process!
@@m3an467 One more question RJ - since the backup camera replaces one of the license plate lights, does that mean when your car is not in reverse, you only have only light shining on your plate at night? Assuming the 4 leds are only on when you put your car in reverse. Also, do you know the brightness of the backup LEDs (4000k?). Are you able to match it with your license plate LEDs?
When wiring the reverse camera in there are two separate sources of power. When the reverse lights come on, the camera and surrounding LEDs light up. The license plate LEDs work as normal. I installed an LED license plate light to match. Not sure of the hue.
@@m3an467 okay i have mine all setup and works great! ... except I cant get my front DVR camera to display any video. its very frustrating. Ive followed AVIN support, telling me to uninstall the HD DVR app that came with the head unit, ensure i have a microsd FAT32 card inside the DVR, and install the new HD DVR app via apk file they provided. but still no video... any tips at all??
Looks like you replaced the business cd with hk system. I have the same setup. Are you getting any speaker hiss like I am? I heard sending speaker level outputs from the avin unit to the stock hk amp may cause issues. Thoughts?
If I have no audio playing I do hear a hissing. But that is the same behavior with event the stock business unit using an AUX port. I don’t hear any sort of distortion when I play audio. One thing I want to adjust is audio levels between sources. Sometime one source is louder than another (Bluetooth vs CarPlay) which can cause distortion (again the same as any unit).
Ive had the same issue. Funny things is if i turn the radio on and then turn it off (essentially the audio source has to be directed to the radio) then the hissing is gone. But if Im playing music from the saved files in the AVIN unit or the usb stick, then it hisses when i turn it off. I wonder if anyone knows a fix for this?

Hey man, im in need of serious assistance. I need help trying to figure out my Avant 4 unit. All of the videos that i found reguarding this unit are all running the older version of android. I paid a large amount of money to get this unit installed.
1. I need a better instruction of how to install the autoplay carplay application
- I have the wireless carplay optiion and im unable to figure out how to use it because the app is not installed
? Do i connect the unit to wifi and install the app directly from the store?
? Do i have to copy the download from the website
THIS THING IS SADLY NOT USER FRIENDLY AT ALL
- I am also unhappy that i need to use the A2dp app for bluetooth music instead of running it through the head unit "music" section.
you say its easy to use, im having such a hard time. I also have the better version the px6 i believe.
I also need help editing my screen configuration, all of these apps are present that i dont really need.
Please, im honestly in a panic, i have so much money into this system and im unhappy.

Hey! No worries. So the wireless CarPlay app was preinstalled for me. If you still need it, I would reach out to AVIN or check their support page on the website to get the app. It’s called AutoPlay. You will need to connect to WiFi and install it directly through the head unit as any other application. All you should have to do after that is plug the CarPlay adapter in the USB port and you should be set. As far as homescreen configuration, I’m not entirely sure as there are some apps you can not remove yourself. That would be a question for AVIN if that’s possible. I’m sure it is but it’s probably a more involved process.
Did u say this unit can get rid of that ugly orange backlight for the buttons?
You can adjust the color to nearly any color you want.
@@m3an467 ...just watched an install video..will it change the tachometer, speedometer and steering wheel color as well or just the head unit?
